When ever there is a Steve Snot and Roger heavy episode I quote my 5th favorite South Park character I am so happy way higher than I rank most episodes of shows because I enjoy all three voices there is a reason why Dan VS. became my favorite animated show to watch on UA-cam
well, what Brian and Stewie started as. It's clear the dynamic was similar in the first few Road to specials to Roger and Steve's, but it eventually devolved along with the rest of the family.@@jat9926
Given how immature Roger is, I think the 1600 is a lot more like 16. So their mental age difference is more like a 16 year old hanging out with a 14 year old, only the 16 year old is like a vampire who's been 16 for 1584 years.
@@Mr.CynicalOh, good point! Maybe that will be its own video because it is weird she didn't bring up one of the biggest Steve and Roger combos from the show in this vid.
The episode “A.T., The Abusive Terrestrial” hit hard with me. I’ve been in a few abusive relationships, but I learned to recognize the signs and to bail ASAP. One of the abusive relationships was like the one from “Irregarding Steve” with Beauregard, I moved out and broke up with him after I got sick of the abuse and I _did_ go back to being homeless rather than live with an abuser (even an emotional abuser).
While that's never mentioned in the episode, that TOTALLY would explain his behavior, especially because when abuse is normalized for a child they tend to become an abuser
Terrestrial or Terrestrian essentially just means someone who lives on the planet. The "Extra" in E.T. is what makes it clear E.T. is an alien, as in he's from an Extra or other planet. So. the Abusive Terrestrial makes sense for Henry, being he's the one from this planet (not from an extra planet) and he's abusive.
My favorite moments between Steve and Roger are the musical numbers. The one i think im thinking about involves his Dad and they both have six packs with white billowing shirts.
Yes, "My Name is Earl" is really good (at least imo). Might even be something if you decide to expand beyond animated shows (if only every now and then, given the show has a good topic)
I’ve been watching a few of your videos recently and: 1) I love your analyses. While you sometimes miss things you really drill down into the topic ^^ 2) Long episodes are ❤ 3) The way you speak, and in particular the fact that you say wid instead of with, is comfy to me. I don’t know why, it’s just nice 😊 Looking forward to more from you ^^ Obligatory you’re definitely a furry here :p
I could be fine with Steve and Roger as brothers if it weren't for the fact that Roger is still a s*xual predator, who creeps on Steve and Hailey on several occasions, including near the end of 'Jenny Fromdabloc' where he sells Steve's underwear to another predator, and then there's 'Love: American Dad Style' where Roger's so obsessed with Hailey that he chains her to a bed, and skins Jeff.
I know this video is a month old now, but labeling the episode the Abusive Terrestrial does end up making sense, because the abusive one is an abusive person from earth, or terrestrial :)
Not gonna lie, you produce some of the best content I've seen reviewing shows, characters and plots, that I've seen in a while. Can't wait to see more content!
I have a horrible brother but chips come down I would seriously injure or worse whoever threatened him my other two brothers we fought like cats and dogs but we fought for each other even if we knew we were wrong this feels exactly like Roger and Steve Smith
Your comment about promising to not talk again and only do it for 5 minutes reminds me of when I was in like 3rd grade and I promised the teacher that I wouldn't talk for the rest of the day because the whole class got in trouble for what a few people did at lunch. I was actually planning on doing it and went for it for a while, the teachers did talk me out of it, but I was fully planning to
'Abusive Terrestrial' is an accurate title. Yes Roger is the one being abused, but Terrestrial refers to something of earth, in this case the shitty kid. So the Terrestrial is the one being abusive.
While Roger and Steve have some fun episodes, there are a lot of... darker things implied that Roger has done to Steve. Many times it's been said he molested Steve in several ways. Roger's rich uncle persona actively does creepy things to Steve. In the episode where we find out every family member is blind to at least one of Roger's persona, Roger mentions a 'girl' Steve had dated ended up being Roger all along (including a few 'dates' that Steve wasn't conscious for). After those episodes, I have a hard time liking them getting along so chummy. As funny as Roger is, he really needs a lot more bad things to happen to him, IMO.
You forgot one episode where is focuses on the Steve and Roger dynamic, Tears of a Clooney. In that episode, Roger buys his own vineyard so he can make his own wine, but he couldn't do it himself so he decides to adopt children so he can use them as labor for his wine making business. Steve objects to this, but Roger bribes him with two of the orphans who are either 14, 15 or 16 to be his "secretaries". For the rest of that part of the episode, both Steve and Roger just sit around during the changing of the seasons while the foster children work themselves to near death for their amusement, like Thanksgiving and Christmas, despite Hayley's protest which fell on deaf ears because she had cancer. At the end of the episode, Hayley called child protective services and told them about the mistreatment, slavery and abuse Roger was showing to the foster children. The children run free from their year of slavery and the two orphan teenagers strangle Steve for treating them as his sex slaves. Roger said, "My babies, my babies, whose going to stomp on my babies?" But then Roger tasted the wine himself and thought it was terrible.
It’s good I just wish we didn’t have the caveat that if Hayley graduates community college (not even regular college) that Stan will kick her out, and nobody really objects.
Also, "terrestrial" refers to Earth, so an extra-terrestrial means someone from a place other than Earth (aka an alien from space). So Abusive Terrestrial is accurate since Henry is from Earth and is abusive.
Missouri. Sidenote: woah 28:31 makes it suddenly make sense in another scenario of how one, potentially could not notice a moth in there closet- well also just like if it was a kind of situation where they do not normally have their closet door open the majority of the time... and thus they may have not seen even a flying insect go in... especially how just like spiders just exist and occasionally house spiders exist...
4:11 is honestly a fair reaction though. You don't just take another persons snacks. 😂😂😂 I actually got to have a Roger adjacent petty revenge moment about 11 years ago... My sister used to be a stoner, and one time she and my cousin helped themselves to my Pringles and Cornflake cakes (we were in a very tight financial situation so i had to save for those and for context i have ADHD and Autism, you never touch our snacks without asking, that is a declaration of war.) Now had they asked i would have shared, but they just dug in and helped their stoned and drunk selves. So one night while we were at my sisters house they were stoned and talking about existential shit and then her house started creaking you know settling for the night and they were convinced it was a ghost. So i rolled with it, told them they probably pissed the old lady who used to live there off. Then got scary noises up on my phone played them loud enough for them to hear but low enough they couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. Then when i went home i rang her off a witheld number and sent her the Mustard Song from Buffy the Vampire Slayer played backwards and sped up and because of how high they were thats all it took to convince them her house was haunted. I forgot about it for like a year until she brought it up to me and then played me the scary voicemail. She was annoyed when i wouldn't stop laughing then i told her to play it backwards and slow it down, she was confused hadn't quite pieced together what was going on yet so i broke the news to her that her house wasn't haunted and walked her through what i did. Then when she finally asked why i did it, i got to have my villain monologue moment and told her its because she ate my snacks...guess what has never happened again in the last 11 years. Lesson learned, and we have something to laugh about now. So long as nobody actually gets hurt you can absolutely have a Petty Roger-style vengance plan. 😂😂😂
The reason why I think American Dad works better than Family Guy, is that, regardless of their fights and how f'd up they can be, they still all care about one another (sometimes taking the saying "you take it out on the one's you love the most" a bit too much at times 😅) where as in Family Guy, both parents have both said at some point that they don't care for the kids, or even each other for that much. American Dad shows how in the end of the day, family (whether blood or choice) is going to be there, Family Guy is just a bunch of people who are related to each other which just hate each other really.
"Terra" means earth. Terrestrial means someone who was born and lives on earth. Extra-terrestrial (ET), means not of earth. Therefore A.T. the abusive terrestrial makes total sense because Henry was born on earth making him a terrestrial and he was abusive towards Roger making him an abusive terrestrial. Roger, the person being abused, is a non-terrestrial because he doesn't come from Earth. He is an extra terrestrial much like E.T.
I actually LOVE the movie “Grease”… but I’m sure the broadway show is probably not as good, but who doesn’t like John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John… plus Barry Gibb’s “Grease” and reprise of the song!
That episode where Roger is in a abusive relationship made me realise something: I have seen this episode and I understood what it was about and I knew that this is how these dynamics work - but it's just like with Cybersecurity: No matter how well you understand these mechanisms, it still only takes being distracted for long enough for one's automatisms to be exploited - and once you're inside the cycle, it takes both external help and either sheer luck or preparation for dealing with this situation done back before it happened. But of course, as probably most people I hadn't expect for it to ever happen to me and instead of preparing for when it would eventually happen, I trusted that it couldn't happen to me. Then sheer luck and my bff saved me after only a month: My abuser was probably just replicating what men had done to her because she tried to be the guy in our relationship somehow and when I reacted probably much quicker than she had expected, giving her retrospectively way too much power over me for someone I had just met but also that same weakness made her lose control because my lack of resistance probably disoriented me. Then, just for one night, my bff slept at my place and her accusations I was sleeping with her went so far off the rails that eventually she started to insult my bff and that again triggered something in me that used to protect my friends before myself apparently - so I mindlessly fought back for not myself but for my friend I felt much more loyalty for still than that woman I had just met. It ended with me cutting her out of my life and she was at that time also weakened, so she cut me out too and only kept the money (not that much) and the book she had borrowed from my same bff she tried to cut out of my life by accusing us of having a secret affair while technically, we were in an open relationship anyways but that was only a minor argument at that point anymore because she had basically changed that definition and made the change a condition of us continuing the relationship and communicated it to me via her accusations. And it somehow went so fast and she also made sure to keep me disoriented. I still wonder if she was trying to lovergirl me or if I was just dating a psycho junkie prostitute (which of course I did not know until weeks into this messl. Weirdest thing: in theory, I got away easy. My friend needed like 5 years to escape from a relationship she wanted to escape already after a month. Still, it's me who is just beginning to conquer this traumatic experiences while she got involved with the first decent guy I had seen within her vicinity and had also told her to check out. No idea if my input helped but they're really happy together and whenever I visit them and their newborn daughter, it feels so wholesome and healthy all around there and it fills me with joy to see how she (their daughter) is being cared for by loving parents who also love each other and who I know will love her unconditionally. Still, I needed 5 years just to get to the point of being able to open up to a guy (which is somehow easier than to another woman because it actually wasn't a guy who did this to me) sexually and romantically but only after setting clear ground rules about it having been supposed to remain within the boundaries of a friendship with benefits but after 5 months, it's now a poly relationship, possibly moving towards becoming an open relationship or alternatively towards ending in favor of me having that with someone else. Still completely mindfucked and confused here. But I can enjoy sex agaij, so that's a start.
I've listen to this a lot my question is. How is Henry learning these things? It sounds like he's herd it before. I know abusive people don't need to learn it from somewhere it just seems word for word from he could've herd
Not to be a a smart aleck, but ATS title actually works perfectly. The terrestrial is the kid abusing Rodger. extraterrestrial refers to someone or something not from Earth. The kid is from Earth ergo he is the terrestrial
I know what it's like to hate something popular. I remember when Paranormal Activity was all the rage and when I watched that movie, I kid you not I struggled to stay away during that boring ass crap. Had I been laid back on a couch and not sat in a chair, I 100% would have fallen asleep during that. It's sooo god damn boring.
Kitty monk are you sure you want to put that as your thumbnail because in all honesty I don't know if you remember the few times that Roger has literally tried to sleep with Steve and his only given up on that conquest because of the fact that basically I don't know if that would upset you know standing Francine anyway as parents to basically you know beat Roger to an inch of his life for what or turn them into the CIA because yes it's funny when it comes to their dynamics sometimes but it's still oddly inappropriated times to so I wouldn't exactly call them the best of brothers lol but you know it's your video
Roger and Steve are such a fun dynamic. I look forward to the day Roger is the best man at Steve and Snot’s wedding

I'm glad that it's Seth and a different actor and not just him voicing characters.
I always think it’s so funny that Steve never just asked Hayley if he was adopted. She’s older, she’d remember 😂
He thought making out with her was a better course of action lol.
I also like Roger’s relationship with Francine
Steve and Roger have the best dymamics since Brain and Steiwe from Family Guy

@FaerieIsland I’m fine now and thanks!
I know that same feeling. Worse when you have someone who has an addiction and blames you for their problems
Never forget, when Steve blew off his thumb with a fire cracker. Roger was the only one who had the decency to drag him to an ambulance.
Ya know I haven’t seen the Henry episode in years and just seeing the clips, he’s clearly acting out his parents relationship pre divorce
While that's never mentioned in the episode, that TOTALLY would explain his behavior, especially because when abuse is normalized for a child they tend to become an abuser
Hopefully we get a video talking about the messy relationship between Roger and Klaus.

I remember when Paranormal Activity was all the rage and when I watched that movie, I kid you not I struggled to stay away during that boring ass crap. Had I been laid back on a couch and not sat in a chair, I 100% would have fallen asleep during that. It's sooo god damn boring.
