      I love the original story. It's just so stupid that it's brilliant. NES games were severely limited in graphics so anything serious would just look corny and silly so they just kind of went with that. The story is super corny and silly so it matches the graphics perfectly.

      It's one of my top nes games that I still play till this day, but it gets it's respect especially by the true hardcore gamers, why u think they made blaster master zero? Now here's hoping they make another game but with a more mature, gritty darker game instead of the 8 bit graphics.

    AWESOME video! Thanks for doing this purely with voice over instead of the awkward staring at the camera for 30% of the vid! :) Most others probably don't care but I find this format a lot more interesting, looking at the visuals of the game and research a lot better!

    Blaster Master: Blasting Again is definitely my favorite entry in the franchise (blasphemous I know).

    Weird I am just now seeing this as I've been subbed to DF for a while. This was a great video! You should do more of these!
    I teared up when I heard about BMZ - the switch was, and still is my favorite nintendo system ever and as a handheld fanatic it was the best of everything - and now my favorite NES game, one of my top games ever is getting a sequel that finally looks like it'll do the original justice? was just one of those "best timeline" moments.
    And now, years later we got a crazy amazing trilogy out of it. It'd be fun to see you guys revisit this now that the trilogy is complete.

    I was really impressed, not to mention surprised at how great Blaster Master Zero was.
    I also kinda like that you actually get a whole damn extra chapter with all new content for collecting all upgrades.
    Usually today, developers would never dare to lock that much content away from casuals.

    One of the best of the NES era. I think a lot of people who didn't grow up with NES games can't appreciate how ahead of its time this was in many ways.
    Also, that overhead Sophia gameplay looks like it has great potential. I hope they try that again in a future game, because with better controls and level design I could see that being really fun.

    Overdrive looks like a new grounds flash game...

    • @justanotheryoutubechannel
      @justanotheryoutubechannel 5 років тому +2

      You know why? Because it’s a 2D game without pixel art graphics or 2.5/3D models and environments. Think about it, Newgrounds and Flash games don’t rely on pixel art, but also aren’t 3D in any way. Instead, they use graphics like Overdrive. Therefore, Overdrive looks like a flash game because it tried to do the 2D style with higher resolution graphics.
      While it’s still not a good game, it doesn’t look like a flash game because it’s bad, it looks like one due to graphical style.

    • @justanotheryoutubechannel
      @justanotheryoutubechannel 4 роки тому +1

      Brian Donegan I never said they couldn’t, I just said they’re rare and the main examples of games using that style I could think of were flash games. I actually don’t even really like the 3D Models in 2.5D environments look that much.
      The Wonder Boy remakes are amazing too by the way, I love the artwork.

    The people behind Sunsoft games in the NES days were outright masters of the hardware. It is a shame that Sunsoft isn't still making games today, Blaster Master Zero is a game they contracted out. I will be buying Zero on my Switch as soon as eShop goes back up. Also Blaster Master Blasting Again is imo an underrated game, I had a lot of fun with it and though it had some quirky issues, I felt was a pretty good 3D game for the series.

I have the Genesis version and I have to agree with what you said. I later found out about the PS1 version and play it on my PS3. I also have the Wii War version and you nailed it also about the poor style of the visuals. I will be picking up Zero for my 3DS.

It is defiantly my favorite game for the NES next to the original LoZ. I did not care for the Sega,Game Boy Color and Wii interpretations. Blaster Master Blasting Again is actually a decent game. I loved it. Blaster Master Zero is fantastic! It was the second game I bought for the Switch next to LoZ Breath of The WIld. I would indeed like to see a modern 3D take on Blaster Master. We need a DF Retro about Mega Drive's addons 32X and Sega CD... maybe even about the Mega CDX... I know so little about them... but I'm so curious about them either...

      @vitaobatera 7 років тому +1

      only onteresting thing I know is that the 32X is like an "overlay" where a cable is used to put images generated by the 32X and the Mega drive together.... without it the game "works" but just barely.... if so
      ...

    It took me a while to place that VRC6-ized version of that UN Squadron (arcade) Stage 2 theme.

    One mistake...Ninja Gaiden released in 1989 shortly before the Sega Genesis. I was just really starting to get into gaming back then. By that time I had an Nes and Sega Master System. While I enjoyed gaming, I was very casual (arcades was a different story). I used to hate hearing "Just like the arcade game!" It wasn't until I got Ninja Gaiden and brought it to my then best friends house that I saw something truly revolutionary.
    His parents bought him a Sega Genesis and I never looked at gaming the same again. Here, right before my eyes- "Just like the arcade" had new meaning to it and it was dead on accurate. I got my Sega Genesis that Christmas and almost entirely dropped the 8-bit stuff completely. Minus of course Ninja Gaiden and Super Mario Brothers 3. Back on subject...
    I received Blaster Master...I don't know for a birthday or Christmas...maybe I traded someone for another game. That's right, I traded Punch Out for it and was very happy with the trade. I loved Punch Out but there is only so many times you can beat it and it's very limited after three or four playthroughs. Blaster Master on the other hand was fantastic and hard as nails. It took me months to complete it without any Nintendo Power guides. I wound up getting the Nintendo Power guide a few months after beating it and played through it again...what a revelation that was! What a time to be alive and young!

    I had never played blaster master until the switch, but the minute I turned it on, I realized I already know the 1st level song and can hum along. I must have heard it alot in the past, Im assuming people use it as backround music in videos I watch.

    The video quality of these old games looks a lot better than anything I've seen before. Is the NES footage being captured from the Analogue NT mini? Why does this look sooo much better than any other HD video of NES games?

      EJ Crough Yep, it's from an Analogue Nt via HDMI. The other consoles were captured using the Framemeister as usual.
