I think a black lamp base would match better with the moody, dramatic floral shade. Especially since you put a black trim on the lamp shade. Love your videos!
Thrift Diving this is gorgeous and your so gracious to be kind to people making suggestions. Some are not nice when you try to offer up a twist on their ideas- I think black would be nice as well, but I love it either way❣️
Thank you for emphasizing masks! It drives me crazy when people on TV shows aren’t wearing masks, my grandpa was a voluntary test subject for Agent Orange when he was in the army, so I’m very conscious of airborne hazards! Thank you for being a health and common sense advocate!!
I'll admit that I sometimes still skimp on the mask when it comes to spray paint, but after seeing those particles like that, never again will I be so lax about it. We have to protect our lungs so we can keep going for years to come!:)
Fubs_the_queen 1996 Omgggggg, who cares about emphasizing on the topic of masks, it’s common sense to wear a mask when spray painting or anything with chemicals involved. That shouldn’t even be a topic. If your ignorant don’t wear a mask, if you have a brain in your head then the emphasis shouldn’t be an issue!
@@kelleymariejones6388 Don't be rude about this. Many people DON'T wear a mask when spray painting outside because you're assuming since there is ventilation, then it's all good. If you're going to be rude, please go elsewhere. I don't do that here.
It turned out beautiful. A littlt tip.......If you need to release the glue use a heat gun aimed on the paper and it softens the glue enough for you to remove it without tearing it.
Your videos are unique and not a copy of anyone else. When I am re-doing things I use any materials, do dads, metal or whatever I can find that fits my vision. I love your lampshade. I have different styles too but his is almost Boho and I like the bright colors. It could cheer up any room or highlight a wall paint color. Thanks!!
So cute! I also have a little TNR (trap, neuter, release) neighborhood cat that decided he loves us. I creatively named him “Fuzzy Cat” because he’s well, he’s fuzzy 🤣. After over a year I can now pet and hold him. He’s turned into one of the best little outside cats ever. ❤️
This was such a fun project and most rewarding. It looked so nice with the indoor plant, maybe change the cover for the winter season making it more cosy. I enjoyed the video.
This was wonderful because for someone like me who loves things on the more “ creepy “ side of decor 😄 I pretty much have to make my own curtains and stuff so finding lamps has been really fun in my small town so I’m really looking forward to trying this THANK YOU and you really explained everything in a nice easy understanding way .
Quick note for a sensitive material you take the shirt you are wearing and stick the tape to it. It makes the tape just a little less tacky! Do it on car stuff all the time.
Just a couple of tips. Fabric works much easier, it is more forgiving as you work with it. Second, cutting lots of little slits as you wrap the top and bottom over really helps it lay closer as it goes over the edge. About 1/4 inch since your overlap is a half of an inch. This prevents the buckling or pulling tight on the other side.
This was so much fun to watch and good tips for me on using spray paint. I've been sloppy with it before and now I think I'm going to be patient enough to do, two thin coats. Takes patience but is worth it. Many is the project I have cringed over to later see that big fat run I created being in a hurry. I looked at Skillshare and was amazed at how helpful this can be, will sign up. Thanks as always for being the strong teacher that you are, and we all appreciate your humor.
Aww, Joan, than you for the wonderful comment! Thank you for noticing how much work the videos require, but more importantly, thank you for watching!!!
So pretty 😍 I already have this paper too, but with a navy blue background. It looks gorgeous as my bookshelf's background. Coordinating lampshade, here I come! Great share, as always 🤗
I like the end result. That remand me to a lamp that I found in the thrift store few monts ago. I converted to a beautiful lamp that now I have it on top of my night stand.
💕🌸Omg!!! That lamp was such a steal!!! I have a floor lamp from Target and on sale it was over $50! Well done!! I love this one. And with spray paint, the color options are endless!!!👍🏾❤️😊
Great job! I would have drawn a line on the outside of the lampshade to line it up with ease. I did the same thing and it was helpful. Thanks for your videos. I love them.
That is one serious glue gun!!! I never saw one like that. I've only seen the ones in the craft stores. I Love your channel so far. I have old/ugly furniture in my house that has good bones but needs some TLC. Love your channel!!!
Subscribed! I love your videos---you explain everything so well and even explain mistakes. You do real projects that aren't super expensive and show how we can do them too. Your lamp turned out wonderful and unique!
Thanks! I was complaining at first because it had gotten dark outside and I was worried about taking pics and video inside where it would be darker. But then I realized, "ooh, this turquoise wall would look FAB!"
I have been in search of a lamp that goes better in my home in this one particular spot. I have been considering refinishing one I definitely think this is the way to go👍
Thanks!! I love it, too! I was surprised they called it "wrapping paper." It really feels as thick as scrapbook paper but bigger, so you CAN wrap with it. I am thinking of buying more. I wanted to use it to cover the desk area in the closet makeover I am working on! Or use it to line some of the shelving! Glad you like it!
Great tip! I always say, "Practice, practice, practice" before starting any step in a project that you're not sure will turn out! I know it takes longer, and you just want to JUMP IN, but that extra practicing helps a LOT! :) Thanks for recently subscribing, too, by the way! :)
The shelter she used created a windless environment hence why the particles lingered. Using it open air without the shelter will not allow the particles to linger. This advice also applies to silica particles by OSHA standard. Indoors requires masks. Outdoors you don't need a mask due to the open air lessening the PPM of the particulate. If you're using the paint shelter then yes wear a mask but open air requires no mask.
Wait... what?? Girl, I was so tired when I watched this I just couldn't follow, at least not to the point of watching then going to take on a similar project myself. LOL Still in all, I LOVE the lamp! TYFS. Withe love from the Southern California desert, MK
Really cute. That lampshade would look nice if you put a light on a cord and hung it from the ceiling ( like the Japanese lantern look) so Anthropologie :)
OMG! I bought the same lamp at Alabama thrift store yesterday, $4.99, no lamp shade. I want to paint it and add strings of beads/crystals. 🤔 Great job on your lamp.

Ooh, good idea! I may have done that if I hadn't done the white first and THEN the shade!

I just saw you on the Duluth commercial. I was like OMG that's my thrift diving girl!!!! Congratulations!
Your design style is free spirited and comfortingly homey
The black trim.makes a world of difference . It's so awesome ..you're awesome !!
This is my first time watching your videos and the vibe I’m getting from you is integrity!
It turned out beautiful. A littlt tip.......If you need to release the glue use a heat gun aimed on the paper and it softens the glue enough for you to remove it without tearing it.
Ahhhhhh!!!!! Ammmmazzing tip. Thank you! I will definitely do that if I ever get into that situation again.

Serena, this is probably the best lampshade makeover tutorial I have ever seen. Nice job!
This is exquisite! I love your style. What wonderful ideas. Thanks for sharing. So happy to see you in my feed today. 😊
I had no idea you could use paper to cover a lamp shade! I'm not usually into flowers, but the paint and shade turned out great. Tfs!
Yeah, Darnia, choose any paper you want, and even fabric!!!
I'm so glad I found you. I just did a search... I like thrifting and re-designing for my home.
I love diying thrift store and yard sale finds. your lamp turned out amazing.
Thank you! 😊

I agree that the base would look better black but it still looks much better then it was. Good job.
Glue dots are awesome! And joining paper with clear packing tape can work well when you just need to join paper edge to edge.
Very nice job of demonstrating the process. Thanks.

😲😲😲 Best tip ever!!! Can I reuse that and share with everyone? Brilliant!!!
It looks GREAT! Fantastic instructions!
I love the pattern.
You should also start a mask when using the spray adhesive!
Yes, I agree. That stuff is nasty!
Very cute! The wall color is a great compliment to the pretty floral pattern.
Thanks!! I realized that too at the end, when I was like, Where am I going to put this???
You are sooo good at all ! Thank you for teaching the rest of us.

Thanks so much! Glad to hear you've been getting your lamp makeovers on, too! :)
I think it's super cute.

Lamps are NOT cheap! Definitely stop by the thrift store for your next one and make it unique and your own. You'll have fun! :)

I love how the floral paper looks when your turn the lamp on! I wanna try something like this out
Yeah, that was an unexpected surprise! :) Thanks!!
Love the tutorial! And the wrapping paper!
Looks great, really professional.
Wow!!!!!! This turned out beautifully. Awesome job!!!
Great job! I would have drawn a line on the outside of the lampshade to line it up with ease. I did the same thing and it was helpful. Thanks for your videos. I love them.
You are right about the Black bias tape. I got a little scared for the floral alone. I don't remember the last time I bought a non thrifted lamp.
Yeah, the floral alone wasn't working. I am glad I had the bias tape!!
What a beautiful lamp & shade.
Gurl that’s some pretty work right there!😍 I have some old lamps that are just about gross & you just inspired me.
absolutely great! you did good!
Adorable! You did such a good job!
I love it and the colors in the lamp shade are stunning !!!!

Fabulous video, thank you
I love the pattern! So pretty and festive. ❤️

I love that lamp! what a good job!
Beautiful lamp , good job 😍👍👍
Excellent job!
The white candle tubes should slide right off so all you have to tape is the socket.
Beautifol. 👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️ Slovakia 🇸🇰
Loved this tutorial!! Thank you
Your videos made me take an interest to redoing furniture and reupholstering! 😍
Looks very nice 💡
Subscribed 😊 looks amazing. I might have cut it down and made a table lamp but it's still a fantastic transformation
For the challenged - such as myself - you might want to boost your confidence and comfort level by making a practice run with newspaper first.

Love your makeovers.
This video is definitely one of my favorites of yours! Thank you, this was fantastic.
wow! I spray paint outdoors all the time and had no idea that the particulates linger!!!!!

Wow looks amazing!!
Sabrina that that lamp turned out really nice but could you also spray paint the shade if you wanted to?
Thanks for sharing. Turned out awesome!
Good job, Serena!
Gorgeous Serena x
What a great idea! Just wondering if you could cover the shade with fabric? You may not have a seam if the fabric is wide enough.
Well done! I love the way you finish things so nicely.
Merry Christmas!
Yippee!! I have two of those (lovely) lamps in the garage. I want to bring them into the house, only after a makeover.
Beautiful❣️
Enjoyed your video 🤗
So beautiful I absolutely love that pattern, it matches my office perfectly ♡
Really cute. That lampshade would look nice if you put a light on a cord and hung it from the ceiling ( like the Japanese lantern look) so Anthropologie :)
I think it is gorgeous. You did a great job. I love it❤
Have that design on my phone! Rifle paper co!
Sooo pretty....
This is really beautiful!
