    This was hilarious, especially with Gus's "animated annoyance" over that tether! 😆 Also hopefully a good reference for general information about cave diving and a future source for divetalk to send people to watch, as I'm sure the topic will come up again and again as they (and other various style diving focused channels) put out videos... Great work and dive filming of course 😉👍

    Even in a black out/ silt situation, following the line by touch is quite challenging. In my cave class (likely all classes) we had to remove our mask about 500-600 ft into a cave, were given a blacked out mask. Then I had to clear the black mask and find our way out. Frankly, not one diver in our class made it without help from the instructor. Not as easy as it sounds.

    At times we actually almost do tether to the line. There are no rules against running your own line beyond not disturbing other lines nor should it act like a garrote to DPV divers. So if you are in a big room far enough off the line that losing it is a real possibility you can run your own line. I do it all the time when I am in a large room and want to examine the far walls.

    Maybe chem lights can replace a safety measure style for dark under water cave diving.
    Even neonic coal chalk that still haven't found yet.
    Such videos can be very useful for many who might invest in under water cave diving and wonder of a style of safety procedures and or contingital luck to coordinate professionally especially with smaller groups of surrounded supports. Such videos also keep it easier to quality wonderful love with having to minimize cost or potential risk of unconfronted or inquired for,
    so easily by friends across borderline slimits.
    Thank you lovers of such exploratory examples, helping other lovers,
    who might want to owe up to such beauty pending, as unabandoned gratitude saving, and while away -grace exacting❤

    Would it be helpful if you needed to stop and use both hands for something? Edd says don’t do three hands worth of work using two hands.

    • @BlueWorldplus
      @BlueWorldplus  9 місяців тому +2

      You generally don't need to keep a hand on the line--just an eye. If you are in bad visibility and you actually need a hand on the line, the protocol if you need both hands is to loop your arm around the line while you do the task. I like the fact that you are listening to Edd's advice! "Never do something with two hands that requires three hands!"

    What "cookies" were used? Blue clippers of some sort.....

    • @BlueWorldplus
      @BlueWorldplus  9 місяців тому

      Sometimes people use things that are like small clothespins for cookies as they are much easier to put on the line (and remove) with one hand. Very helpful when you have a camera or a spool or something in the other hand.

    Gus is becoming an absolute unit

  • @traciroshitshdownwarddogrising
    @traciroshitshdownwarddogrising 9 місяців тому

    Ease & efficiency of movement is totally removed if you tether to a caveline and in certain situations puts you at greater risk for being entangled with others or with the topography of the cave. Perhaps there's a one in a thousand, hundred thousand or even a million chance that being tethered would save you in a total blackout with flow but watching you guys the risks involved are not worth that one in a million occurrence. So in a nutshell being tethered overall puts you at greater risk and hinders you rather than helping... .Invite Gus back for more questions! I'm entertained by all of this but I'd never cave dive...

    It SEEMS like a good idea, until you realize how lines are ran and think about the arrows and cookies that would also be on the line.
    😂 actually, finished watching the video, I originally commented before watching, and didn't think about someone also being on the line, going past. The first couple were just right off the top of my head.

    Too much stuff to deal with (plus monitoring PO2 when using rebreathers), just to see wet rocks. Most cave divers never cared about dry caves but all of the sudden they are fascinated about caves. I would say that most cave divers are driven by ego "look at me, I am a cave diver, I am badass!".

    • @Teampegleg

      Some people are brought into the fold in different ways. I got into cave diving after doing a cenote tour in Mexico, and then started doing it in Florida and started appreciating the environment that I was seeing.

    • @BlueWorldplus
      @BlueWorldplus  9 місяців тому

      There are certainly some macho types, but overall cave diving is just really fun and it's hard to explain until you have done it.

  • @sputtyduke
    @sputtyduke 9 місяців тому

    Yep. Looks annoying, I wouldn't suggest taking up rock climbing. Way more gear and line to deal with. 20-30 carabiners, pounds of aluminum cams and wedges. Then there's that whole gravity thing. It's like current, only stronger and lethal. LOL I guess it's a matter of perspective. ( for you keyboard warriors, starting to foam at the mouth, this is a joke. just smile)
