I believe this case is akin to liking apples or oranges. Both performed well but personally, Jaymee's first notes captured my immediate attention. There's a 'magical' feel to her vocals that carries so much emotions. It's vibrant and colorful that has an added dimension. I think Coach Kate hears it too, hence her decision.

jaymee has a more unique voice in my opinion. She can be a big star with some help. Liz is a great singer but the voice isnt that unique

Liz is slick but just another ordinary 'very good voice'. Glad she picked Jaymee - beautiful and interesting voice...

Liz sounded like every Disney princess with a good solid voice and traditional training. Jaymee, on the other hand, has an incredibly unique voice that deserves the attention and coaching Kate can provide. When I hear Jaymee sing I am mesmerized. When I hear Liz sing I am bored. She's technically sound, but boring.

I thought Liz had a cleaner performance but there isn’t any vocal quality that stands out. Whereas Jaymee has some uniqueness and interesting character to her voice. Liz probably won the battle but it is understandable why a coach would roll with Jaymee for that higher ceiling and growth potential.

They choose not just based on the performance, but how good their voice is, how much better they think it can be and whether they think that person can win the show. And perhaps saying Liz was "on her way" to being an artist was a kind way of saying she isn't quite there yet, where she feels Jaymee is.

who is surprised that Kate sabotaged the more hard working and seasoned singer who also performed better on the night?
I cannot stand when coaches use the logic of 'someone is really good so I will kick them off the show in order to mentor someone who is less good but who has more room for improvement because this is really about me and showing what a good coach I am'. ugh.
