- Tens of thousands of people lined Santa Monica Boulevard in West Hollywood for the 2023 WeHo Pride Parade. The Ally Icons for the parade were RuPaul’s Drag Race, Laith Ashley, Niecy Nash-Betts & Jessica Betts, and Melissa McCarthy.
Why so many posts saying OH,, great coverage KTLA. Looks like it's thier employees trying to make it look like people actually think it was a good thing. I call BS.

As a gay guy…the whole pride has become obnoxious. A month, seriously? Of course they don’t show you what truly happens - meaning the vulgarity and sexualization. I’ve been to few years ago and it’s still seen till this day. We celebrate one day for Memorial Day yet the alphabet community gets a month for being brave, for being comfortable with yourself or blah blah blah. There’s been so much back peddling especially now with the push onto kids. No wonder there are many fighting back. We’ve gotten rights but as the book goes “if you give a mouse a cookie he’ll surely ask for a glass of milk”.
I guess you were too busy being patriotic to notice that the ENTIRE MONTH OF MAY is Military Appreciation Month? What does one have to do with the other anyway? My very first Weho Pride was in 1984 when I "Came Out" and felt comfortable in my own skin and "Proud" who I am. It took a very long time to come to terms with myself. The Weho Pride parade is my SAFE haven to be free who I am!!!!!
WTF. How come the TV station did not interview or talk to any Asian or Chinese? I am little disappointed by this. So many of my Chinese friends were in the parade and there was this big group of people from the Chinese Rainbow Network that participated in the parade but did not get mentioned. Sisters of perpetual indulgence is nothing short of blasphemy and I take great offense as a Catholic. I understand they raise money for charity organizations, that can be done without mocking Catholics and our deep rooted and most sacred beliefs. Years ago, as a youth, I was exposed to the gay community and spent some time in it, as a gay guy was infatuated with me, and tried unsuccessfully to convert me. Based upon my experience, the reason for the pride parades is that in their private lives, many are not fulfilled, and so they need the parades, the facades, and the group gatherings as a way of trying make up for it. One of the long time members of COURAGE, (a Catholic Group whose members acknowledge their attraction, but choose abstinence) went back to briefly visit his old community. A lesbian friend who knew him really well back when he was a gay activist, also knew that he was always deeply unhappy in the lifestyle, in spite of his being a vocal gay activist. She looked at him and noted that he was far more peaceful and happy as an abstaining Catholic than he had ever been in the gay lifestyle. The point is, if you are really happy living the gay lifestyle, do it, but if not, feel free not to. Don't let yourself be trapped in it, just because lots of people show up for a parade.

Pride events haven't been violent since the late 60s. There are hundreds of Pride events all across the country, they've been regular occurrences for decades, but there's never a spike in national violence throughout the month of June.
