Dr. Janet Rubin, distinguished professor of medicine at University of North Carolina, leading endocrinologist and expert in the treatment and management of osteoporosis, describes bone remodelling in the context of osteoporosis.
Dr Rubin says that @1:49 at young age in our teens our osteoblasts make bone and osteoclasts which break bone down and once we attain full skeletal maturity then we are remodelling and do not make new bone, only remodelling... BUT why do other people including professionals say that every 7 years or 10 (I can't remember the exact figure) we get a totally new skeleton? What she says is completely different from what I have been hearing. Can you please clarify? Thanks.
Hmmm, with all the info coming out around osteoporosis, I am surprised with the choice to dismiss supplementation as a viable part of bone health. This is the second video from this YT channel I have watched recently where your guests have put down supplementation. It seems this is becoming a channel for prescriptions for osteoporosis. These prescriptions come with an array of side effects as well as significant challenges when you have to take them for decades. Please create some videos on this aspect and potential options.
Hi - I recently watched the video on prunes for bone health. Would you happen to have any updated data? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Recently diagnosed with Osteopenia and now educating myself. Thank you - you are amazing on every level.
@@margaretmartinpt Thank you! I'm off to buy prunes. Another question, I cannot take calcium supplements. Is drinking 3 glasses of almond milk at about 390mg per 8 oz and having 1 cup of coconut milk yogurt at about 400 mg enough in your opinion. I also am eating broccoli and other veggies that contain calcium.
Dr. Rubin will address pharmaceuticals in an upcoming release. If you subscribe to my channel (or come back in a few weeks) you will find the video. Thank you.
Ovolactovegetarian means that person is getting all the calcium (1200mg daily recommended) from milk products. No idea how this Dr can hve missed this. The rest is excellent, thank you Margaret.
Dear Margret...my weight is 41 am 54 in menopause ,exercise regularly and have osteopenia...i have ulcerative colitis and high cholesterol..so i cant put on weight ...i do lots of weight training for bone strength..could i still loose bone mass?
No mention of K2 .... or use of K2 MK4 high dose for osteoporosis in women in Japan. Confused why US is not offering high dose MK4 given the studies? People only turn to supplements because they've had bad experiences with medications and the medications don't look like a good long term strategy/scary side effects for osteoporosis. Some of us seem to always suffer from these "rare" side effect on other medications/are sensitive.
Excellent information Margaret. I live in South Florida. I am looking for an Endocrinologist- Do you think I could contact Dr. Rubin and ask if she could recommend someone ? I have her contact number. Thanks.
I am not in a position to state whether she is open to people contacting her directly or even able to recommend someone near you. I know that she is busy and was generous with her time for me; however, she felt it gave her the opportunity to reach a wide audience and share her message.

If you are post menopausal and use a Marodyne, which I understand turns on stem cells, would HTR therapy work addressing osteoporosis?
Does the treatment with forteo safe, and when it is necessary. ?

You should consult with a nutritionist for this question. In the meantime here is my deep dive on calcium supplements.

Hi Antonella. Thank you for your question. I suggest you discuss this with your physician to make sure you are getting the attention you deserve.
Concider fermented vegetables and dairy, I think they will help.

Hi Judy. I covered that topic here: ua-cam.com/video/a974_VxC07o/v-deo.html
