My experience with Musicians Institute was pretty much the exact opposite of most reviews from students/alumni.
I struggled heavily when it came to my studies, and found that most teachers and students wanted nothing to do with you if you weren't already at a certain level on your instrument. The people there really know how to make someone feel stupid when someone is trying to learn something new. I felt very discouraged being there, and found it to be a very cliquish and cold environment. Impossible to make friends or any type of connections. I'm currently stuck in non-music related day job and have struggled to get gigs from the lack of help or guidance I needed. It seems like administrators only want to hear positive stories about graduates who succeed after MI, and have no concern with those who are struggling. Forget about any type of career assistance or job placement; anyone who receives that is someone who can make the school look good and attract new students.

I am so sorry to hear about your experiences there at M.I. .....I had a wonderful year and made tons of friends....a lot of the time I struggled too...I didn't "get it" because the lessons were overwhelming and I was like "huh?"....some of teachers were kind of mean but most were kind and always willing to listen and help....I wish you good luck and KEEP PLAYING!!!

How long are the classes or semesters or whatever? I wanna go for guitar that’s what it says in their website but I’m trying to figure out how long everythnig is

@@metallicafamily001 ...when I attended the quarter sessions were 3 months each... with a week or 2 break....for a total of 1 year...each quarter was equivalent to a year of college music lessons....

Its so funny how this is nine years old but i pretty much have the same experience now. Lots of practice, asking lots of questions, and lots of fist bumbs.
I love coming back and watching this video often because MI was my dream for so long

cant tell if youre serious or not haha.. you dont want to go to a music college just to learn one song.. get guitar lessons, or learn it by ear, slow it down and tab it out yourself. and practice to a metronome.

Our performance programs (Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keyboard Technology, and Vocals) are all performanced based. So to answer your question, yes.
Musicians Institute would you recommend studying at this school to become a better musician even if later on you want to be a rockstar? Or is this school not for rockstars?

I graduated from GIT in 1983 and was wondering if anyone knows where Kimbro Smith is or where I can listen to some of his recordings? He was an amazing blues player.
Hey...I graduated in 81 and have visited a number of times through the years...I'm sorry to say that Kimbo is no longer with us on earth....but is having a great jam in blues heaven....
