Love the Cortina. I had a matchbox or should I say still have the Cortina toy but that thing is wild. Its so funny the old fireball v-8 was dropped by GM but Rangerover used it for decades. I am glad he chose that unusual platform to modify it to insane. Love his collection.
That pic at 9:21 and Rich's story about going to the drags with his dad really says it all to me...the sheer worldwide universality of car culture along with the pride, sense of self-expression and communal spirit that accompany it. Kids in England and Europe, Australia and New Zealand, had their own versions of the same thing that we were doing--and are still doing--in the States and Canada. Hanging in the garage (or "gah-raj" as Brits might pronounce it ; )) on a weekend or after school, no doubt with some good rock on the radio, bonding with buddies ("mates") or family, laughing, joking, talking about anything and everything. Maybe a couple of beers, or a smoke break now and then if one was so inclined. Me, I never smoked, but not averse to a nice brew now and then. I knew plenty of such times, and so many of the people we shared them with are gone now. Some have moved on or moved away, some are gone from us too soon. One photo, within one very cool and exciting video, evoked all of that for me.
Love the Mk 1 Cortina, I had one of those in the 70's obviously it never looked that good. Great job and it sounds awsome, your a very clever guy. (UK)
I just read something recently about the establishment of a British Drag Racing Hall of Fame in the UK. It's great that the drags command a loyal following and that there are strips in so many nations--from England to Malta to Finland to the Netherlands and beyond.
Used to cruise together going from Luton to Watford rods meets late 90’s, me in RV8 candy apple red glass Pop with jacked jag 2 back axle you in the Cortie, what became of the Pilot?. Great to see you’ve survived and adapted. Ron
Got a new Cortina GT 1600 in 1976......£827,.00 GBP on the road, including the optional seat belts! My God what a flying machine it was......0-60 in a blistering, tyre shredding 12.1 seconds.....lol
I want it! $100! I had a '66 Cortina GT when I was a kid. Wish I had it now. Paid $150 for it back in 1972. 2 door, bucket seats, 4 on the floor, factory headers, Weber 2 barrel. A blast to drive.
First time I saw a car ( the cortina ) with a solid fr. axle gasser style , and independent rear suspension , have to assume a solid hi-power rear axle is more rare in england than a Jag set-up ...
Sounds like he may have spent some time in Perth, but not the east coast of Oz; there's definitely pommy cues in his accent, but also something else other than Seppo.
Leonard Carr i get thats the look but its a streetcar not a dedicated racer otherwise he would be using a solid rear axle its basically a t bucket under a cortina body
Leonard Carr brits make me laugh i agree work with what ya got but yall do have solid axles available there and imagine how sketchy a wheelstand would feel in that thing whith all the rear sqaut toe changes
The Cortina is not a dragster. In drag racing it would be a gasser or in some places it would be an altered. Not every car that goes down a dragstrip is a dragster. Don Garlits drove a dragster, John Force drives funny cars. One of Force's daughters drives a dragster.
Hey Dennis, a long time ago you looked at a 1975 Bricklin SV1, but never drove it. Let me know if you want to drive one (a nice one, it's a blast to drive!) Bucket list car! ua-cam.com/video/8q86f5KES9Q/v-deo.html
Really cool car's......but a little too far from original for me.....I couldn't cut up an original car to do something like this unless it was too rusted to do anything else with
I've just seen the most fantastic 63 Cortina. It's just perfect ❤. The other two are awesome but the Cortina blew me away. Thanks for your show
What a life to get to choose from those 3 SUPER unique rides, what you’re gonna drive each day!! Those are 3 very special cars.
Dude, you have an official pardon from the UK for the Cortina! Awesome.

Love the Mk 1 Cortina, I had one of those in the 70's obviously it never looked that good.

I had the pleasure of meeting Rich, he`s a very cool down to earth bloke.
I just read something recently about the establishment of a British Drag Racing Hall of Fame in the UK. It's great that the drags command a loyal following and that there are strips in so many nations--from England to Malta to Finland to the Netherlands and beyond.
Love the Cortina. My dad owned a '68 Cortina in Karachi Pakistan.
so glad i found you again. i've been watching for years and then lost ya cable somewhere. away, glad i'm watching again
Stunning Collection, unusual to see the Mk1 Tina set up like that, here in the UK they get built for Rally or Track Racing, but all beautiful
Ok, the Cortina GT is a very rare car, but i think its been a wreck in the scrapyard if you not had saved it in your own way. good work man.

so thats where all the super rare GTs ended up then , havent seen one here in england for donkeys years.
Bob England no that is where one of them ended up.
Rich sounds more antipodean than English. i think we should be told ; ))
Sounds like he may have spent some time in Perth, but not the east coast of Oz; there's definitely pommy cues in his accent, but also something else other than Seppo.

Yeah! your right good catch !

Interesting ! Hmmm!
Cortina looks kinda like a valiant or amc american or maybe certain falcon years but i bet it drives funny with straight front axle and jag irs
Leonard Carr what corners?
Leonard Carr i get thats the look but its a streetcar not a dedicated racer otherwise he would be using a solid rear axle its basically a t bucket under a cortina body

Okay, is it just me or does that '32 kinda look like Dennis?
You know....I can see that!
Must be too much rare stuff on the pagan gold beast to let him drive.
East Coast bEast Coast
I would say drop the front of the cortina giving it a sleck look dat would be cool to look at ,but nice cars though

I can tell these are the same engines as monster trucks.
not even close
