As a side note, at the time of this performance, he was still learning English and sang the song phonetically. These competitors were all professional singers/groups and were required to perform cover songs only. I believe they were given a week between performances to pick the song, learn it, practice, and have it ready for performance. Also, Dimash was a last minute addition as a wildcard singer. Most of the others had never heard of him prior and his participation in this made him famous in China overnight.
I listened to Dimash for the very first time only two days ago after refusing to do so for months. The very first song I heard him sing was S.O.S. and it blew.. me.. away! I'm so glad I gave him a chance and I'm happy that you did the same!
I appreciate your honesty. I'm truly interested why some people drag their feet when it comes to that "first-time listen". I've heard others say that and I want to understand that better. Maybe you're a very independent person who doesn't like following the crowd?

All of a sudden there were sooo many reaction videos here on UA-cam and everyone was talking about him and saying "You need to check him out!" and that made me think "No, I don't" (that's also the reason why I still haven't watched Disney's "Frozen" btw lol). The second reason was the fact that I could've sworn I've read somewhere that he's a K-Pop singer and K-Pop isn't my thing at all.

Dimash wash the first non-Chinese’s competitor and the youngest in the history of the Singer at 22. They actually placed him as a wild card, figuring he wouldn’t make it past the first or second show. So he was more of a guest. Brian May called to congratulate Dimash after his cover. I would have HATED to go after THAT in the show. Not only would I be demoralized I know for a fact the judges and audience will be comparing my performance to his.

Dimash is amazing both inside and out. Very humble, educated, respectful, charitable , sings in 12 languages, plays seven instruments patriotic, loves his family, his music and his fans called dears. He composes, directs, models, dances..... he’s 27, 6’3. He appeared in the Worlds Best comp in America and was down to the last three and then found the other two were children.so withdrew as he doesn’t think adults should compete with children, the prize was $1,000,000. He wasn’t told kids would be there.He has such integrity.
Why Dimash was the second one in this competition has a very simple explanation. This is a Chinese show and Dimash was the only foreigner (Kazakhstan). So the winner has to be Chinese. And the fact that he got second place among professional and very well-known singers participating says for itself how good he was. And after this show, Dimash became a #1 singer in China.

As a life long Queen Fan myself I loved your reaction. Just like there is no one like Freddie there is no one on the planet today like Dimash,. Sit back buckle up you haven’t seen anything yet. He can sing any genre and his vocal range that we know of is 6+ octaves. We don’t know for sure because he won’t say and everything he does is something new and you never know what to expect.

He is changing the world of music as we know it, his magnificent voice will steal your heart and soul with every song he sings. He can’t be classified, his songs are arranged in such a manner that you will hear, classical, pop, jazz, folk,opera, and even rap. 👉 In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese in this show. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after his first song "SOS d'un terrien en détresse " Dimash captured the hearts of millions of viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood at his door. Dimash sang the song: The Show Must Go On here, in the competition. The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to UA-cam... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears. The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. I told you you never heard a voice like this before! :-) Welcome to the rabbit hole called Dimash. And it is not just his voice - he is an incredibly thoughtful, kind and always respectful young man, dedicated to his art, deeply routed in his family and adorably proud of his homeland and culture. Someone you could be actually proud to be a fan of. By the way your knees will hurt a lot in the future, Dimash dropping to his knees happens quite a lot - he is a very physical singer, throwing his whole body into a performance. His co-competitors actually bought him knee pads as a gift after watching him drop like this a couple of times.

Thank you for your genuine first-time reaction to Dimash cover of this iconic song from Freddie, whom Dimash truly admires. Brian May saw the video of this performance, and posted about it on his personal blog. He loved it, and was amazed by Dimash's singing. Brian learned that Dimash was giving a concert in London the following year, and expressed his disappointment that he was unable to attend. I look forward to more Dimash reactions from you. His first performance on "I Am Singer" (S.O.S.) is widely considered to be his signature song. He's performed it in many different countries for many events, including for the 2020 Presidential inauguration. It would be a great starting point for future reactions.
DIMASH was the only non-Chinese contestant and they have a rule that foreigner cannot win. He was originally scheduled to sing two songs as a wildcard but the people like him a lot. He stayed through the competition until finals. The next year, they changed the rule cuz Jesse J won 2018 competition.
I grew up with Queen and Freddie. Loved all your comments and for me wherever Freddie is he sure smile each time anyone reacts to Dimash singing The Show Must Go On. Yes Dimash didn't win and was 2nd, but for me he really is the big winner, in the end 4 years later people are still discovering Dimash due to The Singer. Hi there... Brian May was impressed he said basically "I didn't know who DIMASH is, but I know about him now".. DIMASH is incredible whatever he sings. He finished second place in "I Am Singer" is because rules were that a Chinese person must win. DIMASH is from Kazakhstan. The following year, rules were changed and British star Jesse J. won. Also, please do not give views to performances from American TV show "The Worlds Best" .. they cut up his performance with out his permission, also tricked him into competing with children and treat him terrible when he quit. @@DanFromHali Please do take it into consideration. All of the songs he performed on that show were edited, cut, and destroyed. You can find all of them without editing etc. Dears won't support those videos either. Nope, not at all. You'll get a lot of comments, but not many views.😅
Great start to the Dimash journey and what happened to you during that song is lovingly referred to as getting Dimashed! Although Dimash did not win (he was a last minute choice being a Kazakh singer in a Chinese singing competition) he won the hearts of the Chinese audience and now he is adored worldwide and considered by many of us Dears (that’s how he refers to his fans) to be THE BEST vocalist on the planet! I was born in the UK and was a little kid during Glam Rock. Then I became a fan of Queen and a huge Kenny Everett Video Show fan (Freddie and Kenny were both close friends and both died of AIDS). Both were my icons as a young British girl. I can’t watch either without crying like a baby and refuse to listen to covers of Queen until this cover by Dimash. He is unapologetically brilliant, unabashed and passionate with the technical skills so innate he can sell the song with abandon. Yes, I cry like a baby during this performance. Thanks Dimash. Freddie would love you and probably adopt you if he could. Mad respect.

Absolutely loved this reaction! ❤️ I’ve only read a few of the comments below, but I’m sure you’ve been told more than once that this is only the tip of the Dimash iceberg. He is possibly the most amazing singer around. Chris Rupp, formerly of the a capella group Home Free, called him a “generational talent” in one of his reaction videos (the first one, I think). One word of caution: Dimash appeared in 2019 on the American talent show The World’s Best, where he gave three performances before leaving the show because he found out quite by accident that, contrary to what he had been assured, there were children in the competition. (In fact, one was Daneliya Tuleshova (sp?), a Kazakhi girl he actually knew.) In the Kazakh culture, adults simply do not compete against children, so he walked away from a substantial amount of prize money and maintained his integrity. The verbal abuse he endured from one of the American judges when he announced his intention to leave the show generated a storm of outrage from his Dears (fans). Anyway, all this is to suggest that you may not want to react to any of those performances - they’re not nearly as good to watch anyway because of the way they were butchered in the editing process. Wow, I didn’t intend to go into all that detail! Anyway, thank you for this reaction. You may be interested in watching the Forever Queen medley from the 2019 Singer program, performed by Dimash and the Super Vocal boys as a guest performance. It’s pretty fantastic. Dimash was the first non-Chinese person in this competition ever. So the winner may have been a sentimental favorite. Who knows. Keep going, you ain't seen nothing yet!
That’s not true, it has some foreign singers joined this show before Dimash, but no one won this competition . Some people said because this show doesn’t allow foreigners to win , may be 🤔, other competitors are famous singers in China for long time, they all have their own fan base
@@mayz2543 From what I read, I don't think the competition ever had an official rule stating only a Chinese singer could win. But as it's Chinese, there may be a cultural bias towards judging... which I think is only normal. Its also a competition for well established and award winning artists, which Dimash wasn't. So I think there were a few things that added up. But I mean, I grew up watching American Idol... and the best singer was never the winner. The one who came in second place was usually the person that went on to do the most.

To him, it was more important that people should like his songs. Since you like Queen, you should react to Dimash and the Super Vocal Boys singing a Queen medley, “Forever Queen”!
Queen is one of Dimash’s favorite bands.... anyway, welcome to Dimash. I’m a lifelong music Fanatic, and have a special appreciation for voice as instrument. Nearing 60 years of age, I have never heard a better Vocalist in my lifetime. Dimash is absolutely fantastic. Dimash was the first foreigner allowed to compete, he was also the youngest competitor at 22, on the Singer competition, ever. He was only supposed to perform for two shows. After the fan reaction, it was decided that Dimash would go on. Dimash figured he would end up in the middle . He was going up against China’s most experienced and professional performers. He won performances 1, 2, and 8. This show went on for 4 months. Placing second I would think would be great to Dimash or anyone else! He was invited back to perform as a guest, the next year. He performed in China for 2 years after that show. 😁

He appeared in the Worlds Best comp in America and was down to the last three and then found the other two were children.so withdrew as he doesn’t think adults should compete with children, the prize was $1,000,000. Why Dimash was the second one in this competition has a very simple explanation. This is a Chinese show and Dimash was the only foreigner (Kazakhstan). So the winner has to be Chinese. And the fact that he got second place among professional and very well-known singers participating says for itself how good he was. And after this show, Dimash became a #1 singer in China.

As a life long Queen Fan myself I loved your reaction. Just like there is no one like Freddie there is no one on the planet today like Dimash,. Sit back buckle up you haven’t seen anything yet. He can sing any genre and his vocal range that we know of is 6+ octaves. We don’t know for sure because he won’t say and everything he does is something new and you never know what to expect.

👉 In 2017 Dimash received a wild-card for the competition “The Singer” in China. He was the youngest participant of all time (22 years) and the first non-Chinese in this show. Only professional, award-winning singers take part. Nobody knew or hear Dimash before and he also had to start first... and after his first song "SOS d'un terrien en détresse " Dimash captured the hearts of millions of viewers overnight. The next day, bodyguards stood at his door.
Dimash sang the song: The Show Must Go On here, in the competition.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds, over 4 months. The jury consists of 500 spectators. With up to 1 billion people see this tv-program, that's generated international interest. The performances were uploaded to UA-cam... and so, we became Dimash’s Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned that Dimash would survive two episodes of the competition and go home again. They didn't really believe in him. But Dimash came, sang and stayed... for the next 3 years in China... but he only finished second in the competition because he's not Chinese (conditions have changed: The next year, Jessie J. won).🌼🇩🇪

Thank you for your genuine first-time reaction to Dimash cover of this iconic song from Freddie, whom Dimash truly admires. Brian May saw the video of this performance, and posted about it on his personal blog. He loved it, and was amazed by Dimash's singing. Brian learned that Dimash was giving a concert in London the following year, and expressed his disappointment that he was unable to attend. I look forward to more Dimash reactions from you. His first performance on "I Am Singer" (S.O.S.) is widely considered to be his signature song. He's performed it in many different countries for many events, including for the 2020 Presidential inauguration. It would be a great starting point for future reactions.
DIMASH was the only non-Chinese contestant and they have a rule that foreigner cannot win. He was originally scheduled to sing two songs as a wildcard but the people like him a lot. He stayed through the competition until finals. The next year, they changed the rule cuz Jesse J won 2018 competition.

Hi there... Brian May was impressed he said basically "I didn't know who DIMASH is, but I know about him now".. DIMASH is incredible whatever he sings. He finished second place in "I Am Singer" is because rules were that a Chinese person must win. DIMASH is from Kazakhstan. The following year, rules were changed and British star Jesse J. won. Also, please do not give views to performances from American TV show "The Worlds Best" .. they cut up his performance with out his permission, also tricked him into competing with children and treat him terrible when he quit. I was born in the UK and was a little kid during Glam Rock. Then I became a fan of Queen and a huge Kenny Everett Video Show fan (Freddie and Kenny were both close friends and both died of AIDS). Both were my icons as a young British girl. I can’t watch either without crying like a baby and refuse to listen to covers of Queen until this cover by Dimash. He is unapologetically brilliant, unabashed and passionate with the technical skills so innate he can sell the song with abandon. Yes, I cry like a baby during this performance. Thanks Dimash. Freddie would love you and probably adopt you if he could. Mad respect.

Absolutely loved this reaction! ❤️ I’ve only read a few of the comments below, but I’m sure you’ve been told more than once that this is only the tip of the Dimash iceberg. He is possibly the most amazing singer around. Chris Rupp, formerly of the a capella group Home Free, called him a “generational talent” in one of his reaction videos (the first one, I think).
One word of caution: Dimash appeared in 2019 on the American talent show The World’s Best, where he gave three performances before leaving the show because he found out quite by accident that, contrary to what he had been assured, there were children in the competition. (In fact, one was Daneliya Tuleshova (sp?), a Kazakhi girl he actually knew.) In the Kazakh culture, adults simply do not compete against children, so he walked away from a substantial amount of prize money and maintained his integrity. The verbal abuse he endured from one of the American judges when he announced his intention to leave the show generated a storm of outrage from his Dears (fans). Anyway, all this is to suggest that you may not want to react to any of those performances - they’re not nearly as good to watch anyway because of the way they were butchered in the editing process.

That’s not true, it has some foreign singers joined this show before Dimash, but no one won this competition . Some people said because this show doesn’t allow foreigners to win , may be 🤔, other competitors are famous singers in China for long time, they all have their own fan base
@@mayz2543 From what I read, I don't think the competition ever had an official rule stating only a Chinese singer could win. But as it's Chinese, there may be a cultural bias towards judging... which I think is only normal. Its also a competition for well established and award winning artists, which Dimash wasn't. So I think there were a few things that added up. But I mean, I grew up watching American Idol... and the best singer was never the winner. The one who came in second place was usually the person that went on to do the most.

He came in ‘second’ because he is not Chinese--the rules of the contest prohibited a Non-Chinese Vocalist from winning. HOWEVER: it was accepted that he was the Winner-and that rule has been rescinded because of him. Just an FYI.

Dimash was the first foreigner allowed to compete, he was also the youngest competitor at 22, on the Singer competition, ever. He was only supposed to perform for two shows. After the fan reaction, it was decided that Dimash would go on. Dimash figured he would end up in the middle . He was going up against China’s most experienced and professional performers. He won performances 1, 2, and 8. This show went on for 4 months. Placing second I would think would be great to Dimash or anyone else! He was invited back to perform as a guest, the next year. He performed in China for 2 years after that show. 😁
