A rather long and unusual route to Edinburgh international airport aka Turnhouse. You could tell that it was just starting to get dark as we got nearer the airport from The Gyle Centre. Cold winter's afternoon, motorists were just beginning to put their headlights on. Thanks again for taking the time to film another interesting bus journey in Scotland.
I'm surprised an Airport bus goes through Niddrie, Craigmiller not exactly areas of Edinburgh I would ever have expected a bus going to the Airport to frequent, has the service now been reduced to simply a common passenger service.🤔
This is a very interesting trip through a real variety of neighbourhoods. Is this actually a bus that people take to the airport or is it intended more to provide local service between areas of the city? I find the streets and roads to be very pedestrian-friendly as there are nearly always paths on at least one side, no matter how remote they seem to be from houses or stores. This is so unlike most of urban road design in North America.
This is one of my local routes, and tbh I have to say I rarely see people using it to go to the airport, rather people using it as a local bus. This may be to do with the fact that charge more money to go to the airport
Hi there. Apologies for a late reply. The 400 used to be a standard bus route between the Royal Infirmary (around the 10 minute mark) and the Gyle Shopping Centre (hour and 12), but around 2018 or so, the route was reworked so there were more buses going to the airport, this one included. There are 4 bus services that link to the airport, the 100, 200, 300 and 400, each one servicing major landmarks in Edinburgh, the 400's being the Infirmary, the Gyle and Fort Kinnaird.
Interesting ride, although sad to see so many of Edinburgh's suburbs so litter strewn. Good therefore to see one member of the public having pride in his area at 40:26.
