What a fascinating and insightful piece. I was quoting this while out (socializing and approaching strangers!). I hadn’t heard of Scott before, but I found his views on relationships to be reassuring and the way he delivers his opinions to be very pleasant, even when I don’t agree with them.
50 y/o here. Dating was not fun when I was doing it. Frankly, I tell any guy: be comfortable with yourself first. It's better to be alone than lonely with someone else. From what I hear from the young guys, the dating scene has not improved, and from what I hear from the young women, the dating scene is even less attractive now as it was then.
You have no idea how bad the dating scene is today than it was 20-25 years ago. Its a total shit show, especially if you are dumb enough to use dating apps, they are totally toxic.
@Rye_equifilm that's what I hear from the younger guys. Dudes are making over 6 figs, decent human beings, not the cheating type. I just shake me head cause they are genuinely the kind of people I would want to date my kid. Don't know what modern girls are looking for but stable, decent, well employed and dependable don't seem to be it.
@@Mongoloid69@Mongoloid69 Actually, not at all. I do want eventually leave corporate but not because I hate my job. The interview wasn't about that actually. They hated their jobs early in career but also spoke about how that allowed them to find their way and how those jobs ultimately helped them in their journey. What he said about diversification, some of the things about men and relationships, education and men, and more are spot on. Even some things I didn't agree with gave insights.
Great dialogue! Thank you for such a broadening discussion. Scott, my husband has a disagreeable personality and negative outlook on life too but as you both demonstrate it can be a gift to the rest of us in that you both see angles the rest of us miss. Glad to hear each day it's getting better for you, as I believe it is for him as well. Thank you, Codie, for starting this podcast. Sharing with others. Love the discussions.
Wow! What a brutal realist, with one hell of a tempered armor. I am more in Scott's generation than yours, Codie, and can appreciate the truth in his words.
My next question, is what if you started learning all of this at 29 and 30. I really don't see anything in the tunnel. There is no light. There is just a big black void.
It's great to see these two talking important shit. Okay Codie and Scott, you've got keys and myself and others are working towards having keys. Finding the path to the 'city'.
Trouble maker. Blaming old people, S.S.? They built this country and paid into Social Security; most of whom live in poverty. The old people voting themselves more money are those in government.
I can't listen to this. Trying to blame seniors that earned their S.S. is disgusting. Government needs to get out of most things. Let education, etc. go back to local communities.
This fear of the deficit has been around sense 1930. People thought we would be debt slaves over the 36 billion dollar debt, Didn't happen. 10 years ago the debt was going turn us into Greece, didn't happen.
Most of the government debt is intra-agency with the federal government or bonds to citizens. Meaning we pay ourselves the interest on the debt. What about foreign debtors? We pay in dollars that means those debtors have to use those dollars either buying our stuff or stuff from our allies. It's a win win for US.
The main difference is that we are now entering a period of aging demographics where the workforces of developed countries are shrinking and there are more and more old people. Debt is a huge burden under such a scenario. Immigration helps but there's enormous populist backlash against that now.

A debt driven society. Nether political parties want to change spending habbits. Both parties screw groups of people over. Trash societies are growing and becoming more entrenched. From birth gap mapping. 9 months after big economic hits the birth rate drops. Also from poling, house and transportation where the top things for people to want to have before starting a family. As much as he has said some good things about males. I have also seen him say some terable things also as advice. Not to get into the bad health care or only for some. Or bad schooling and the imbalance of male to female teachers and counselors. Or the legal system inate biases which he has touched on lightly. Weird he has been talking so many places. Not to say over 50% of the stock market is bots and anyone born after lives to help support those bots. Irony. Class system and control structures. Predatory economics and people. The inshitification of things. Some of that purposely done for profits.
Bro needs to chill, of course old people have the money, that’s how it should be. If I remember correctly my mom and dad went to work everyday to support us. They lived modestly and saved. I’m glad they are enjoying retirement, this is their last chapter. Young people don’t want to work or contribute to society. They collectively make the work environment worse instead of better. It’s growing pains. Eventually they will get with the program. This guy is just another grifter
How sad that he is pandering to the anger that some younger people who feel that we’re all in in gigantic homes raking in the money from Social Security, what a joke. When I got one of my first paychecks at 15 years old, when working in the hot sun at a lumber yard, I couldn’t believe there was something called Social Security. They took my money. Didn’t ask me if you question it they basically say shut up just pay it. Retired at 62, and depend on the Social Security that they robbed from me all those years, I’m just trying to get a small portion of the money that they took from me.
Exactly! Scott is a self entitled asshole who believes SS is a windfall. SS is just another scam to enrich elites. Current recipients got grotesquely ripped off. Thank god I opted out of SS long ago.
