What a wonderful world we had, never to be ever again. WE were and still are so lucky to have been part of it.
I was 11 years old and listened to Top of the Pops on a Sunday evening with my friends, I will never forget how wonderful it was.
    Great to listen to again.

Dusty had a phenomenal voice! But she had little self-belief - when she recorded a vocal she had the backing track in her headphones turned up so loud she couldn’t hear what she was singing. My wife helped look after her when she had a breakdown in the sixties… A brilliant talent!!

Searchers from Love Potion #9 to Needles and Pins. Absolute Gold! Dusty Springfield best female singer to come out of The British Invasion. Shame she had such a traumatic childhood. I saw her speak about her Dad and how he used to tell her ugly and worthless she was. It scarred her life. Her lack of self confidence and self worth was palpable. She died of Breast Cancer 13 days before she was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. Such a Heart Breaker. Extroidinary talent!
The Hollies were The best male group to come out of the British Invasion. So underrated and as far as I'm concerned far better than the Beatle. Allen Clarke's voice was untouchable! One of the Best if not the Best male voice of that generation. Allen, Tony and Graham complimented each other like no other group did. Even when Graham left and Terry came in they lost nothing. They were just as good as they'd ever been. I'm Alive, Kerry Ann, On a Carousel, Sorry Suzanne, The Air that I Breath, He ain't Heavy and the list goes on. Outstanding!

People today don't know she was the exception of cliff and the shadows the biggest selling uk singer from 61/62 notching up 2 no.1s and 2 top 10s whilst still at school and having brief appearances in several movies, she did have another top 10 hit and a few minor hits from 63-64 but they dried up and she ended up on the circuit playing on cruise ships and recording standard's.
I think her 2nd no.1 hit came just as she celebrated her 15th birthday

It was one of the first things Brian Epstein changed to get the Beatles noticed and on the TV. Even the Stones first appearances were in suits. Within a very short space of time. around 65, the suits were out.

Helen Shapiro -- the Amy Winehouse (vocally) of her time! IF there had been no THE BEATLES (Ha!) then, THE MOODIES would be second to none as my favorite group of all time! No video available (for posting) of Noel Harrison -- "A Young Girl"? Does anyone know if a ZOMBIE ever practiced, Zumba?! ("What did he say?") 🤪 🤣

Lovely to see Jimmy Page ( probs was 18yrs at the time) playing with The Yardbirds.
I was a big fan of the Yardbirds &
Keith Relf ( or was it Relph??)
The prior Video had the Yardbirds
On but Jimmy wasnt with them then, Just Keith & Jeff Beck!
    ( Brilliant guitarist!) & 2 others i cant remember!
God! Cilla was so cool then but she ended up rather frumpy &
    Posh! Couldnt stand her then.
Ahh lovely Matt Monroe, singing Goodbye My Love, or Walk On? Not my taste really, but he did have a wonderful voice.
Even Frank Sinatra thought he was terrific!
There SO much incredible talent then,
    Peace

Favourites (in descending order): 'I Only Want to Be With You', 'You Don't Know' (which I've barely ever heard before), 'Ride My See Saw', 'I'm Alive', 'Heart Full of Soul', 'Walk Away', 'World Without Love', 'Sugar and Spice', 'You're My World', 'Tell Her No', 'Summer Holiday' (I saw the movie when I was, like, eight)
I will NEVER get tired of Dusty's classic!

You don't know was a massive hit and sold more copies in the UK than anything released by dusty Springfield.
In 1961/62 Helen shapiro was about as famous as any singer could get..
With 2 no.1s and 2 top 10 hits all whilst still in high school, by the age of 16 her career as a major selling pop star was dwindling, the beatles were her opening act

The Hollies' song lyrics is a mix of good n bad songwriting by Clint Ballard, Jr but the classic pop tune saves the number. Although a bit flawed, it's still deserving of its No1 spot.
