Thanks for the video but just can't stop thinking of top fans for intake? Hot air rises so having the top fans for exhaust would get rid of the hot air much faster than pushing it down?
Hot air rises, but that rising force is actually very very weak. When you have fans moving the air around, hot air naturally rising is irrelevant. That rising current is totally overpowered by even a gentle breeze from a fan. Exhaust up or down.... the difference is so marginal....just have the fans however makes sense for your case. Hot air rising is only really relevant in an open space of free air. Edit.... Also having a radiator as intake/exhaust also makes a very marginal difference. Maybe 2 degrees to cpu/case. It's fine as an intake as long you you have a well ventilated case. The gpu produces waaaaaayyy more heat then a radiator. If you put your hand in the air comming off the radiator it barely feels warm. Then do the same around the gpu. So yes the rad could heat the case... but only if there is no exhaust/fresh air in the case. The warmer radiator air will just be exhausted straight out the case with very little impact at all

I thought the same, you don't want INTAKE coming through a radiator in my line of thinking, you'd want that warmed up air to be exhaust.... I have never understood front mounted radiators that are intake... if the radiator isn't significantly warming up the air that goes through it, then it just seems like it isn't actually working as a heat sink... I think I am going to stay away from water cooling entirely for now, and stick with front/bottom intake, top/rear exhaust, and an Arctic Freezer eSports dual fan air cooler for the CPU, maybe put RGB fans on the cooler eventually.... but IF I were to do an AIO cooler, I would think top mounting the radiator as exhaust would be the ticket, and in a case like Corsair 5000 where you can have push amd pull fans exhausting through the radiator.... His fan setup is one of the only ones I have seen like this, but I have seen others with front mount radiators that are intake, amd that just seems like blowing the heat right back into the case....makes me wonder if the radiator actually does its job, or ....? Thoughts?
@@isaiahfurrow7414 @Isaiah Furrow Yeah it does seem odd sending that heat right back into the case. Technically an air cooler is doing the same thing if you think about it. As long as we efficiently remove heat from the chip(s) and somehow eventually get that heat out of the case, apparently it's probably fine. Also, if a radiator has intake air flowing over it, maybe this can be viewed as a good thing as the chip's cooling system will receive cooler air that wasn't already circulating in the case.
So, as I see it on a 680x with horizontal 3080, you could set up the QLs as intake on the bottom to cool the gpu, a 280 Capellix on the top, as intake and the rear as exhaust which would hopefully give good cooling for both a 5900 and the 3080. I could also save on central heating costs. Any thoughts? I do enjoy your videos. At my age it is a joy to sidestep the baseball caps, tattoos and bumfluff. Well done and thank you.
Wouldnt it of been better to intake at the bottom and exhaust out the top with the final config you showed at 5:05 with the QL fans because heat rises? So all the heat is rising and those top fans are blowing that hot air back into the case? I could be wrong and im sure there is alot of different opinions on this but am curious why you did it the way you did is all. Im totally new to PC building so I am trying to learn. Thanks for the video!
Very nice setup, sincerely! I've choosen 6x ML120 (to limit fans noises) but they've only 4 RGB LEDs each, unfortunately. Thumb up, new suscriber. Thanks for this excellent review.
Depends on how you plan to do it. Corsair states that you can't mix these on 1 controller, each controller must have only 1 fan type connected. I don't know, if the new controller Node Core supports the old LL fans but the old node Pro does not support QL fans.
5:20 u got problem with DDR lighting its buggy (left side is flickering) got the same problem sometimes. its because of the voltage in most of the cases.

Not sure if you sold your LL120 fans on eBay recently, but I recently bought some and immediately recognised the silver writing on the connectors in this video!
Can I use an LL140 as the fan on a CPU heatsink? No fancy watercooling here. Was just wondering if it would work. It would be in tandem with 2 other LL140s working as case fans, or will I run into difficulty by not having an independent fan that can be regulated on its own? I've got Noctuas lying about but this would be solely from a looks POV!
Awesome video, just have a few questions. On the LL fans, is the lighting on the intake side or the exhaust side? Also does it make sense to use LL on the top of my case and QL on the front since my top doesn't have any glass (making the QL kinda pointless on the top)? Is it possible to change just the fan of a cpu water cooler e.g. swapping out the corsair hydro 100x fans for rgb fans? And finally can you adjust the lighting of the fans without a node e.g. just using the iCue or motherboard software?
Nice review. Good info. Just very suspect on the fan setup (witch I know has no bearing on the actual review, witch I thought was good). You would do better to reverse your intake and exhaust fans.
Legitimate question… Don’t you want your top fans and back fans to be exhausted? And your front and bottom fans be intake? Since heat rises, wouldn’t you want the cold air coming from the bottom and exhausting to the top?
If you don't mindd me asking, you noted that for the sake of utilizing the RGB, your LL top fans were mounted in exhaust when you wanted them mounted for intake. I see that most people would mount their front fans for intake and the rear and top would be exhaust. Why do you prefer your top fans for intake over exhaust?
Because I like doing things wrong. Plus the radiator was there and pulling warm air over it makes no sense for cooling but then hot air rises, so 🤷♂️🤔🙄
I really don’t understand why they don’t make a 280mm white AIO. I have the black one and I replaced the fans with white and I’m ordering sleeves for the cables
so the only difference is that the QLs have RGB lighting at the back as opposed to only at the front like the LLs and they perform worse than the LLs (and are more expensive) in terms of performance and noise levels
In a perfect world, three triple packs, three lighting node pros, two commander pros and enough USB headers on your motherboard to cope. Though you can do it with system fan headers on your motherboard too. (So just one commander pro)
@@TheProvokedPrawn Oh holy that sounds like spanish to me, im pretty new to this stuff but thank you so much! I will tryna figure out how to do this then with your answer :D
It really depends on the setup of the case and your personal opinion. For example, my case has three intake fans and I also exhaust the bottom. Yes, hot air rises, but there's no way to mount that radiator on my case unless to do what you're suggesting without mounting the rad on the bottom, which I didn't want. I've just switched to a new case, where I've got push/pull on the rad and exhaust on the top. I've actually mounted both intake and exhaust on this style of rad in the past and had no issues either way. Sorry If I seemed snappy, get fed up with people saying the same things sometimes. :)
Do you know anything about the new Corsair iCUE H115i RGB PRO XT. They say it uses the same ML fans as predecessor just without the rgb's. Isn't it meant to be an upgrade. If so do you know what has changed ?
Am I right when I see the description in the pinned comment is incorrect? On all seller websites it states that the QL's RPM is a max of 1500 which is correct however the LL's is a max of 2200
Thanks for the video, I really like the look of the QL fans and think we will get these instead of the LL fans, at least for some of them... BUT, I am trying to understand one part of your setup... would you not want to exhaust at the rear and top, and intake at the front ? I just can't wrap my head around having intake air sucked through a radiator, as that would be pulling in warmed air instead of expelling that heat... I would think that you want fresh intake air, amd the air through the radiators to be exhaust .... or am I just not understanding how this is set up and looking at the fans wrong in your setup?
@@isaiahfurrow7414 I made the two ways here... radiator OUT made better idle temps, but gaming temps are higher 5oC (the GPU starts and it all go super hot). Radiator in, made idle a little higher yet gaming lower, maybe bc the airflow helps the gpu heat out yet still testing, and without all properly set (wainting for the gpu riser cable so I can manage it )

It always prevents shutdown with errors, and often doesn’t find my h100i platinum the OSD doesn’t work and it’s just the most clunky, resource heavy program for something that should be tidy and sleek...
i'll wait till they go on sale, it was a fairly fun review, or just stick with the LL as they are vastly cheaper. If they do the 140s/120s with the magnetic bearings all the way up to 2.3k rpms, then I'll invest I think.
Shame that no one makes either a push or pull fan , that you don't have to "flip " over .. , Or just a fan and ring that just "pushes" onto the center bearing which ever config you require
I have an msi motherboard with jcorsair header to control the rgb hub of my LL fans. So I dont have to use the LL microcontroller and the corsair software. Do the QL fans work with the old rgb hub of the LL fans or do I have to use the iCue software to light them up? I might just want to add one or two QL fans to my LL fans.

Newb question! - If I purchase the Corsair H100i XT Pro RGB (comes with non RGB ML fans) Can I swap the fans out for two of these QL120s? If so, where would I plug their RGB connectors in....would I need the commander pro? / lighting node.
Can I mix LL120 and QL120 fans? I've decided to replace my AIO fans with LL120 as top exhaust and one LL120 at rear as exhaust. If I use 6 QL120s as side and bottom intake, will it look good and can the colours be matched for LL and QL?
Another of this guy's videos answering all my questions about something I am looking at buying 🤣 amazing. Also would you say the QL fans are worth the extra price? Also again your voice is so pleasing. I want you to read an audiobook to me. 😅
ha, I've heard that a few times now :) Maybe I need to start a podcast or OnlyFans =D Anyway, whether they're worth the price depends on whether you want superior aesthetics or airflow. QLs are for looks, LLs for power. But if you want airflow, technically the ML120s are the better option, but they have far less snazzy RGB.
@@TheProvokedPrawn I see. Still trying to see if I care about the RGB as much. I do want high airline but I must say the QLs are very nice indeed showed by the video. Thanks for that info on the different kinds!

Why intake on the top? I never understand that. Heat goes up, why not have the top ones as exhaust?
Thanks for the video but just can't stop thinking of top fans for intake?
Hot air rises so having the top fans for exhaust would get rid of the hot air much faster than pushing it down?
Whatever makes you happy.
I thought the same, and also not having the warmed air coming IN through the radiator.... I would think a radiator should ALWAYS be exhaust....
The warmer radiator air will just be exhausted straight out the case with very little impact at all
I just orderd nine of these QL ones. Only in the front I don't think I can manage to get these in because it's a very huge case

Just buy these and set to solid white.
late reply but hope you got the white fans. I just did an all white build for my daughter with the white QL's and they look amazing.
Wouldn't it normally make more sense to have the top fans acting as exhaust?? 1:18
Thoughts?
It honestly makes very little difference. As long as you have a well ventilated case with plenty of airflow and exhaust
Just bought the ll and now swing this video great
Wouldnt it of been better to intake at the bottom and exhaust out the top with the final config you showed at 5:05 with the QL fans because heat rises? So all the heat is rising and those top fans are blowing that hot air back into the case? I could be wrong and im sure there is alot of different opinions on this but am curious why you did it the way you did is all. Im totally new to PC building so I am trying to learn. Thanks for the video!

Can you mix the ll120s and the ql120s or would this look out of place?
Depends. If you set it to the same color not that much but the outshell is different so it will stick out
Depends on how you plan to do it. Corsair states that you can't mix these on 1 controller, each controller must have only 1 fan type connected. I don't know, if the new controller Node Core supports the old LL fans but the old node Pro does not support QL fans.

Can I use an LL140 as the fan on a CPU heatsink? No fancy watercooling here. Was just wondering if it would work. JB H it’s should I know I am late but I hope this helps
Intake. Sure. See here ua-cam.com/video/-vjewiYfNsQ/v-deo.html and no. You need the nodes.

Sure
@@TheProvokedPrawn I meant that as a legitimate question. It wasn’t to be an ass

God damn, nice, I wanna be at that point in my life where I can have 8 different ram sticks, 2 gpus, and 8 corsair fans in my case.
That's an NVMe drive not a GPU 🧐
If you don't mindd me asking, you noted that for the sake of utilizing the RGB, your LL top fans were mounted in exhaust when you wanted them mounted for intake. I see that most people would mount their front fans for intake and the rear and top would be exhaust. Why do you prefer your top fans for intake over exhaust?
Because I like doing things wrong. Plus the radiator was there and pulling warm air over it makes no sense for cooling but then hot air rises, so 🤷♂️🤔🙄
Case I’m getting comes with LL. If I purchased a few QL to add to the pc would they be able to match or would they look different.
does QL mean Quad LED and LL mean Large LED?, I'm trying to figure out what the letters stand for

Why should top fans be intake. I thought they should be exhaust due to heat rising ?
Corsair recommends intake to cool the rad. The internet tells me I'm wrong whatever I do. You do you.
@@TheProvokedPrawn I'm not saying your wrong man. Was a genuine question as I'm about to build a pc.
@@TheProvokedPrawn Thanks for the answer man and it's all good 😁
Do you know anything about the new Corsair iCUE H115i RGB PRO XT.
You can do that if you want 😃
@@TheProvokedPrawn , watched again and still not 100% sure I am seeing it right.... is the air going IN through your radiator, or OUT?
@@isaiahfurrow7414 I made the two ways here... radiator OUT made better idle temps, but gaming temps are higher 5oC (the GPU starts and it all go super hot). Radiator in, made idle a little higher yet gaming lower, maybe bc the airflow helps the gpu heat out

i'll wait till they go on sale, it was a fairly fun review, or just stick with the LL as they are vastly cheaper. If they do the 140s/120s with the magnetic bearings all the way up to 2.3k rpms, then I'll invest I think.
