Why though? Cricket, for me, is best viewed in a more intimate and personal space and is markedly different in tone and feel from football and other sports where a bigger crowd is better suited as the fan base is more tribalist and the action is more instantaneous. Australia's stadiums are multi-sport facilities for just this reason, as I understand it, to cater for other sports like Aussie Rules etc.
@user-zx9cg9zb5r ... please see my previous reply. Intimacy and village green feel lost for what? Loads of extra dosh. Atmosphere can be generated with 25 to 30k people. Bigger isn't always better and, if anything, it can dilute it. Are you British? If not then this might be why you don't get my way of thinking ...
Apart from Lords, there is no reason,or demand for that size ofcapacity. If they charged UK prices in India, their cricket grounds would be half empty as well.
The demand outside of Ashes Test matches is simply not there. I like UK grounds as they are tbh. Cricket unfortunately will never be as popular as it is in India, and as someone else mentioned unlike in Australia, our grounds aren’t multi purpose (aside from gigs).
UK need at least five 40k +capacity Cricket stadiums ..
nice but they should follow optus stadium of perth.
Hi emirates old Trafford this is one of the the person who came to old Trafford school Alexandre Park junior school
How about filling in the empty gap at the western side of the ground? It looks really odd when the temporary stand is not there.
I think they use that for staging when they host gigs.
There is no big cricket stadium in England.Badly need a stadium having a capacity more than 70K plus
