John Young is a f- gem in the CrossFit space. This man knows his history, he’s open minded & always offer a beautiful perspective. John if you read this, I admire you man. I hope you stick around & be part of innovating the CF space.

I don’t dislike James because of his faith. I dislike James because of him shoving his faith down everyone’s throats every time he got a chance to speak.

JY’s point about Sprague being the 2007 NY Giants is a great analogy IMO. 👏

Yeah kinda but James didn't take down an undefeated Patriots equivalent like a Mat, Rich or Tia.

My sister-in-law is a devout Christian. Her father was killed in a horrific car accident. On the day of the funeral, whilst we were all sobbing even though we did not know him that well - death and funerals are hard. She and the rest of the family didnt shed a tear. I thought it was very strange as they are a very tight knit family. When I asked her why, she said it's tragic, but her faith is so strong, she knows where he is and she knows she will see him again one day. It's hard to understand if you don't share these beliefs but in my experience, this is honestly what I have seen myself. It's not that they don't care or don't feel, devout Christians are just so strong in their faith, they believe there is something better waiting and therefore don't grieve in the same way. Personally, it annoys me when he answered every question like that, but I have seen responses like this before.

I get the argument that mental toughness is a part of competition. But it shouldn't be the main factor, this year it was. And also it wasn't general mental toughness, but a very particular emotional challenge and that's putting it very lightly in terms I don't even like using. To me at times watching such a “test of fitness“ looked cruel. So I'd trash this year completely, but keep it in the records, although in John's catch phrases "it doesn't matter".

Athletes dropped out, including top contenders like the two reigning Fittest on Earth. Two of the events straight up didn’t happen. Oh, and also, they let someone die in the first fucking event and everyone else was supposed to just continue on like nothing happened? Of course it had an affect, even on the athletes who didn’t drop out.

      @@BArREASS I don’t think that’s how we presented it.
We presented as with all things coming together the test is the test and winner prevailed. Thus they are crowned fittest and we don’t believe there is an asterisk.
Everything plays a roll in deciding the winner.

Mental fitness including fortitude and resiliency is part of the game. Remember TDC is a prior SEALS, 90% mental.

There can never be an asterisk next to Tia's name. It does not matter what the programming is or who else is competing, Tia will always win. She is the fittest human being on the planet!

Is not people hating James because of his faith. It’s because he was celebrating in the middle of every body else’s pain.
It’s true that God gives us peace that nobody can’t understand; that doesn’t give us the right to celebrate while others are grieving.
Winning the games was a great time to preach but with facts not words.

Of course it does! Not taking away from anyone, but some top athletes dropped out which would have changed up the points. I would still consider them the fittest on earth. Also, the quantity of event matters.

I’m so sick and tired of John’s back and forth contradicting stance. As a suppose ‘expert’ he hand the whole ranking completely off. I agree the mental prowess should be part of it and John tends to leave this part out. James proved to have the best mental strength and physical readiness. Plain and simple! James is 2024 fittest

Of course this year's games had an asterisk! A man died, and they had to restructure the entire event. The majority of the athletes weren’t mentally there to compete, nor did they care where they placed. Tia would have won regardless with or without this tragedy, so she clearly is the fittest woman on earth. It's not the same case for the men. A lot of the heavy-hitter athletes withdrew, so I don't think James is the fittest man on earth.

“Every year presents its own differences in programming. Unkown and unknowable. This year’s unknown difference was someone dying and you just had to figure out how to push through that and win.” Are you listening to yourself? Killing an athlete isn’t one of the variables that other athletes are just supposed to overcome as part of finding the fittest. Give me a break.

@@johnyoung7791 then it’s a battle of how people deal with grief not fitness. Athletes were traumatized. It made zero sense to have a competition. I don’t understand why people are talking of the games and performance at all. Fikowski was showing signs of trauma seeing him on the floor. Vellner was there to show his name. One person said they asked for Lazar jerseys on Thursday, and CrossFit inc said no so vellner put tape on his uniform. Then they got jerseys. Multiple athletes in tears. Many unable to sleep. This wasn’t a test of fitness. It was a test of fitness where some hadn’t sleep. And others were exhausted from emotions. Perhaps the winner had his faith, but strength of Christian faith is not indicative of stronger mental health or fitness.
