She plays it so effortlessly! She nailed some of the most difficult pieces ever written for the violin, like that Bruch Scottish Fantasy! She doesn’t look like she's in agony, unlike Leila Josefowicz.
She is a pleasure to listen to and to watch…I love the fact that she is always smiling and it appears she is enjoying her performance.. If it isn’t fun it not worth doing…

I think Sarah and VM are in the same category in technique. They are both very very good. but Sarah likes to over vibrate whereas VM likes smoother vibrations. I personally like to listen VM more. and her stage presence is so strong even without being sexy and all. Her face is sexy enough. Also I respect VM for being different and always tries something new with violin.

Guadagnini, made in 1761. I believe her parents bought it an auction when Vanessa-Mae was about 10 years old after the decision of going professional. Would you believe me if I told you she fell off the stage accidentally and the violin was broken into many pieces? Whoever repaired did an A+ job to say the least! The last appraisal of this violin says that it's worth somewhere around 250,000 Euros, but that was a long while ago. I agree about the lovely tone!
Herman Muda Yep, I read on wiki about that happening to David's Guadagnini, but believe it or not, it happened to Vanessa-Mae too. She recounted during an interview a long time ago and how much of a panic she was because she had no violin to play on and she had a concert in just a few hours. P.S. I did not know Hailey's violin was a Guadagnini. Good to know!
Yes, she wore a microphone & transmitter except when she was wearing the yellow dress. Definitely had issues with the microphone during Toccata & Fugue, but they fixed it for the remainder of the concert.
Maybe with the classical pieces, but her original pieces who are you going to compare it She´s not just classical maybe that´s problem for the purists.
The most gorgeous violinist - breathtaking. A mediocre professional performer of the violin though. (But looks are what matter most today, no matter the industry)

Because she simply profits from less educated audiences. And I'm really not jealous of her playing, and neither nobody of my fellow violinists is.

And she was the youngest person ever to perform with that orchestra. I also like how she combines elements of classical and pop music.

You imply you have not listened to the Carmen Fantasies of Shaham or Chang - among several others which are quite superior to Mae. You probably not heard others play the Scottish Fantasy or the Beethoven Romance. Dozens of more talented violinists deserve to play at the Berlin Philharmonie. = Mediocre (she is red hot though in boots)

Wow, I’m amazed that she also composed an entire orchestral arrangement for Red Hot! She had the whole orchestra jamming out with her!
