My sons and I love your videos. My just turned 4 year old is a real metal head. He asks for your music all the time, and thinks you are also known as "Heavy Metal". When he says he wants to hear heavy metal, it is you he wants to hear.
Truly one of the most talented and likable people I've run across on UA-cam. He can take a truly crappy song(not talking about this one specifically) and give it the life and power it needs. I was a young Canadian when this song came out. At the time I didn't care for Alanis. Being over 20-25 years later since this song was released by her I've grown to like her and this album. I want to thank you for doing a remake of it, it's really good. Much Music did a Pop Up video of this song and a lot of people didn't know that the car she was in was on the flat bed for the video. It was assumed that she was driving during the video. But I bet if they did that same video now people would be freaking out saying, "it's unsafe, it should't have been done etc." How times have changed.

The one song about coincidence and the real irony is Leo going full metal on it...!!! Awesome job !!
Meter Pappas most of them aren't even up to the level of coincidences. You generally call something a coincidence when there is seemingly meaning behind what has happened. That isn't even implied here... These are just shit things that sometimes happen.
Take the rain on a wedding day line, for example. There is no reason to expect that on a day someone gets married the weather would be good and if the weather doesn't have anything to do with the event in question you wouldn't expect it to mean something so it's not a coincidence.
Technically they are coincidences in that they are events that simultaneously happen and have no relation to one another but that's not the general usage of the word.
A clearer example would be if I'm typing this comment while you're combing your hair.
They're both technically happening at the same time and have no relation to one another but you wouldn't expect that they would so coincidence is never going to be a term that happens when talking about them.
"What a coincidence that you were combing your hair while I was typing this comment." Is not a sentence that would ever happen.
Well, unless you actually were combing your hair in which case you could say it's a coincidence that I made that example in my comment while you were combing your hair.
It's really weird that she couldn't come up with something that wasn't ironic when I can come up with a bunch of things off the top of my head that would be both ironic and actual coincidences.
I go to a book burning and come home to find out that someone has lit my house on fire using a book, for example.
Not because I went to the book burning but just because they hate me and that's what they had on them as a fire starter. That makes it a coincidence but it's also ironic because you wouldn't expect your house to burn down via book burning while you were at a book burning somewhere else.
The song really should have been called "Suck Balls When They Happen".

I've recently wondered if the title of the song being "ironic" is just a big meta comment on the fact that nothing in the song is actually a case of irony it's simply bad luck or coincidence, so the only thing ironic about the song is that the title is "Ironic" but there isnt a single instance of irony played out in the song. Maybe I'm overthinking this I dont know.

Well arent you the funniest guy in the room. First off yes we've all known nothing in the song is irony since it came out. That wasnt the point of my comment, I was asking did she intentionally name the song ironic as a joke, now I may have missed something in the last 20 odd years since the song was released but I've never heard anyone, not saying I'm the first just that I haven't seen or heard, someone question whether or not it was done intentionally. Most people just make fun of how stupid it is that she called a song ironic and then didnt out a single example of irony in it.
