Thanks for sharing this review! I've been looking for a decent turntable and this seems like a great option. Appreciate the detailed pros and cons. Keep up the good work!
Appreciate this review. I just bought one and have been setting up but had issues with balancing the tone arm (same as you, its way to tight so its impossible to balance well) and noticed the same anti skate issue. Thanks
It could be that the set screw on the tonearm pivot is too tight. Try loosening the set screw (on the ball pivot) and then re-securing with a little less force to see if it improves the mobility of the arm. You might need to try different settings until you get it to float freely. This YT video shows the screw - ua-cam.com/video/QqAtIXxMMF8/v-deo.html
@@danpatrick2175 yeah it definitely was too tight, I did try adjusting it as you suggested and it seemed to work. Actually my biggest issue with this turntable was the stylus not being great quality and too mush distortion. I recently swapped it for a AT-VM95E and it's greatly improved, that swap also seemed to help loosen the tone arm a bit as well.
The antiskate value should match the tracking weight. In other words, if the tracking weight is say 1.5 Grams, the antiskate control should be set to 1.5, and not some random value.
Yep it should, but that doesn't work for this TT. I've seen comments from other people reviewing this TT saying similar. Hence why I stated the antiskate is rubbish on this.
Thanks for the review. Mine is only playing LH track. Tried new cables, headphones etc. Was working intermitantly. Anyone else had this issue ?. Also turn to zero (off) after use. It has a standby function that powers the unit down if left idle. Will not turn on again if left (have seen this on another video)
Bought this T-table as a Christmas present for my daughter and had the same (anti-skate) issue. I purchased from Crutchfield and they have excellent tech support. I called and spoke to them and they advised setting the anti-skate on this unit to "zero" based on their testing and increasing, only if needed. The most common recommendation is to set anti-skate to the same value as the tracking force, but this is not always the case. Some manufacturers suggest setting anti-skate to half the tracking force. A simple test is to simply watch the stylus on the record. If you lower the stylus onto the lead-in groove (first track) of the record and it jumps too far forward into the grooves (or skips forward), the anti-skate is too low. If the stylus doesn't engage the lead-in groove, or falls off the outside of the record, the anti-skate is too high. Basically, you want the stylus to catch the lead groove and follow moothly into the first song. One other note is that 2.5 grams is the typical tracking force listed for this turntable. However, Audio Technica (manufacturer of the included cartridge) lists the tracking force as 2.5 ~ 3.5 grams, so 3.0 grams is closer to target. I found that 3 grams provided superior performance and sound quality with this turntable.
Hi, I have this Marley Turntable and a Marshall Stanmore II. Up to last week it was working perfectly fine with the RCA output on the turntable and the jack output on the speaker. Since I moved (and pack it all up nice and cosy in boxes of origin...) it does not work anymore. I have tried everything, new "head" for the turtable, new RCA/Jack cable and even tried double RCA cables. Nothing seems to work. Is it possible that the RCA Output on the turntable is damaged? I do not undertand what is going on and it is slowly driving me nuts ... Can someone help please? Thank you :)
Not to sound silly, but did you make sure the internal phono-amp is turned on? There should be a small black switch on the back which you may have knocked. Also make sure the volume knob by the 'Off/33/45' rotary switch is turned right up..
@@chrisnewson2351 yes, pre-amp ON and the knob is correctly placed. Tried the Turntable on another speaker and it did not work either. So the Marshall speaker disfunction has been ruled out. Might reach out to the reseller for them to have a look into it, because I am out of options here. Thanks for taking the time to get back to me, I appreciate it.
Thanks for the review. I decided to go with this turntable based partly on your recommendation. Another video review I watched might be helpful to you, although it's hard to tell for sure. He mentioned that the counter-weight on his tone arm had not been pushed all the way in and was causing issues with the anti-skate: ua-cam.com/video/GBAuF-UtPos/v-deo.html
Hey mate, thanks for the link. I had a watch, and yes while that would solve the anti-skate issue, I would not recommend it. The reason it solves the anti-skate skipping is because by turning the counterweight all the way to the stop, he's setting the weight of the stylus to over 6 grams. That's way beyond the recommended tracking force of 3.5g ± 1g that the ATN3600L stylus recommends, and will lead to premature wear and damage to your records. I've recently set mine to 3g and it sounds great, I still run the anti-skate on 0.5 for most things. It seems a lot of people also run with 3.5g of weight but I haven't tried that much yet. Hope that helps, thanks for the comment and the link 👍

You're welcome bud, hope you enjoy it
Nice review. I wouldn't worry about the slight platter issue as I've had LPs that were much worse than that.

Are you using the internal phono amp? Could be something to do with that perhaps?
I have the same problem with the antiskate, will it damage anything by turning it off? Thank you.
I shouldn't think so, having it so it skips back on itself definitely will though.

I'm going to try 3.0 tracking force now and see how it goes. Thanks!

Your counterweight should have a clicking regulator element in it.
Maybe they added one in later models, but mine doesn't seem to.
@@chrisnewson2351 That is possible.
mine muffles at higher frequency? it’s not the speakers problem. i don’t know what the issue would be
Like, with a certain record or all records? Not sure, maybe try an external phono amp?
Thank you
Mine always skips in the inner track, anyone else have this problem?
Yep mine did that too until I turned the anti-skate completely off
@@chrisnewson2351 thank you very much! I will try this tomorrow and see if it works out 😊
