Cod 2 was incredibly active back in the day very balanced. Rifles were almost always a 1-2 hit kill. Each faction had their own specific weapons and while they acted similarly to each other they presented enough visual differences that they stood out. And the maps were amazing.
Cod 3 didn’t get the same level of polish because of their unusually short development time however, when you got games going, that were organized, it was a lot of fun. The weapon handling wasn’t always the greatest, but the class variety and the open Maps for the vehicles made it unique in its own battlefield, lite kind of way There were definitely some games that felt like the final battle of saving private Ryan and that’s about as good you can give a World War II shooter in my opinion.
COD3 was some of the best Xbox Live memories I ever had and I was playing it long after the Modern Warfare trilogy ended. Community was always small but there were usually at least a couple populated matches going on and since there was actually a server browser on the 360 version, you didn't have to wait 50 years to find the active matches. An almost insultingly underrated game.
Loved COD 3! I was 13-15 years old when playing it online. It was my first online game and played it nonstop. My brother and I got to be ranked top 1,000 in the world. I rocked the M1 Garand while in the Allies and the MP44 while on the Axis. Sometimes I’d snipe. Capture the flag was my go-to game mode. I think War was a popular one too. So many glitches in every map. It was perfect for an early teen.
I'm 20 rn and have played cod consistently every year since the release of MW3 however my first ever CoD was CoD 3 on the PS3. my dad brought me the console for Christmas and picked up the cheapest shooting game he could find. now although this wasn't the prime years of the game, lobbies used to be full and I remember having a blast for hours on end playing it. felt like a genuine war game, very similar to medal of honour
Dude this game was so glitched lmao. I remember playing capture the flag and when I had the flag occasionally when I struck people with the flag I would go flying across the map 😭😭
Great video ! I’ve been playing OG MW2 on the 360 since the servers opened. What you said about time of day is very accurate. I find that 11am-11pm is the best for finding consistent matches. You will run into some of the same players , so much to where they even know your playstyle already. But overall I see a lot of new players everyday under level 30 no prestige still grinding. The hacked lobbies are SUPER fun too ! I love those lobbies on Rust with the neon lights flashing and Super Jump mods.
Cod ww2 was highly underrated. Ardennes forest was top 5 cod maps of all time imo. I get why you didn’t like it, it wasn’t my cuppa tea for the longest time but now it’s growing on me. Especially being the 2nd last “old school” cod before the engine overhaul
@@SantanaBanana47 agreed! I still hate paratroopers and the paratrooping in after a tac insert 😂 game could have went without that but overall it went crazy
COD WW2 was terrible at launch which is a major reason why people hated it. What really helped this game was the amount of work Sledgehammer did with the game which meant if you didn't give up on the game immediately, you really were rewarded.
I absolutely loved it it was actually the COD i had the best stats in any game i dont remember excatly but i had avg 2,96 kd or something like that i used to play it day n nite
I've been playing BO1 consistently for the past 2 weeks and been finding games okay. Every little while though it has bad connection issues and disconnects and reconnects for about 5 minutes straight but other than that it's alright to find TDM FFA or Domination on in my experience. I haven't tried zombies yet so I'll have to see what happens with that. I also have MW3 but I've had no such luck with it. I just get put into the same hacked lobby every time I hop on it so I dunno if that's just crap luck or if it's actually dead. I'm getting MW2 again to try and get back onto it for that nostalgia binge but I'm hoping that it's okay to play
CoD3 old player here. Haven’t played it since 2013 as it was still possible to play back then but it was only at certain times and usually with the same players over and over again but it had about 30-70 players per week. Playing in the morning was impossible but during my time (uk time) around 4pm you’ll find these players during that time. Now the game is heavily criticised but that’s only because it don’t have what every call of duty has too date. No perks, no kill streaks, vehicles was in this game, if I remember (we are talking 10 years ago) I don’t think you could prone unless you had the LMG class which dropshotting with that class was OP, but I could be wrong about if you could prone or not. The hit registration wasn’t bad but wasn’t great either. Too say I played it a lot it was quite rare to find a laggy lobby, I don’t know why but the game felt lag free. And the game had classes but more of a squad mechanic (bit like battlefield) which I actually was a fan off as you didn’t have everyone running the same weapon over and over again and every class had it usefulness and negatives. Medic had the shotguns which if I remember it had stupid ranges especially it’s 1 hit kill. Overall I loved the game even if it wasn’t perfect it was just unique compared to the same CoDs we get every year. Met a bunch of awesome gamers from that game over the years, even tho I haven’t spoken to any of them in over a decade I still have my memories with them. It got harshly reviewed because it wasn’t like CoD4 but like you said in the video and I agree majority of CoD players first game is most likely CoD4 and if anyone would play CoD3 after playing CoD4 then of course it’ll be judged as they’re two separate unique games and I was a fan of them both just more of a fan of CoD3 and WaW (must be a WW2 thing as I grew up on those type of shooters).
I played COD2 when it was first released and the first game I’d stay up till like 3-4am in the morning. At that time everyone spoke on their mics, it was also very common to add lots of random friends requests and play again every night. Nowadays no one speaks and everyone stays off chat, it’s turned the game upside down in my opinion :(
It's because nobody wants to walk on eggs shells while playing a game, so nobody talks anymore. You can thank the woke and liberals for that one. Everything is a "safe space" now. In a private match with your friends and you trash talk like the old days or curse and you get communication banned, there's an AI that monitors all voice communication now. People don't like being spied on either.
Oh man… I was 16 when I started playing Call of Duty 2. It was my first game with my Xbox 360, and also the first time I played online multiplayer, and I gotta tell you man, it was glorious. Very simple. No kill streaks, no perks, no progression. Just basic gun fights, and screaming obscenely at people for using the trench shotgun, or camping with the Springfield. Good times.
I used to play COD finest hour on PS2 . The online multiplayer was fun as hell. It holds a special place in my heart. COD 2 I didn't play much as I don't have an Xbox. I remember when COD 3 came out it was cool for a few weeks, but then my clan went back to Finest Hour.
Just so everybody knows, COD4, CoD MW2, Black Ops 1, and ghosts are all active on PS3. I’m not talking about Black Ops 2 and MW3, because BO2 crashes and MW3 boots me out when I try to get into a game. Edit: I used my brother’s old account to play MW3, and it works. MW3 is still active.
@Steeezzzzz There is a glitch on bo2 for the ps3 were the screen freezes while loading into the menu. I looked it up and it seems that this is a big problem, and obviously it won't be fixed because treyarch is no longer updating the game
Started on mw3 on 360, bought and played every cod after with the only exception of vanguard, haven’t played it. A lot of good memories throughout the years.
The main issue about call of duty is people are losing interest because of Activision, the new call of duty games doesn’t feel the same anymore, and there neglecting their player base in favor of new players!
I have 30k kills on BO1 and 15 days played for the PS3 version over the last 3 years. It's active and I get into search & destroy games every day. Sometimes there'll be a sabotage lobby or even a headquarters game running. There is even a small community that run private party games with 18 players and they play sniping only s&d, one in the chamber, gun game, sticks and stones, dodgeball etc. As far as PS3 cod's the only cod's ones that aren't dead are BO1 and Ghosts. As far as cod Ghosts is on PS3 I usually can get into a gun game or infection lobby most of the time, sometimes a drop zone game, but all the other game modes including s&d are dead which is sad. When I checked out the the other cods on PS3 this is what I found. WaW is holding on by a thread but is playable BO2 is hacked beyond repair MW2 Hacked to shit MW3 is bugged COD4 is holding on by a thread but is playable
WaW will always be my favorite cod of all time…. That’s my 1st cod I started with and that’s when the zombies era was born! Glad I was apart of it ! Bout to hop on it now lol ya bo2, mw classics were a,ways bugged/hacked and never played those in a long time.bo2 I didn’t like since the zombie rounds were tough af lol
BO4 has some of my favourite maps, weapons, and overall gameplay of all time. The whole specialist thing sucked but it only became unplayable when they added a specialist who could hijack the other team's equipment and streaks.
Played CoD 1 only on single player because I didn't have internet back then. Played CoD2 intensively in 2008-2010. Was a great experience with interesting maps (thinking about Toujane, Sainte-Mère-Eglise, Burgundy ..) Thinking about it, I loved nearly all of them :). The biggest problem I remember was the grenade spamming.
Sorry to burst your bubble bud but me and 4 friends play Cod4 the original version every night and always get lobbies, granted it's only team death match and it's usually a lot of the same names but it has a solid community on Xbox and i'd encourage people to play, we also play cod3 and it's a lot harder to find games but If you start one after a while that lobby will fill up :)
cod really did go down hill after the black ops days . the thing that stands out most to me is how in all the older cods . it was easy to see your enemy but in all the newest ones half the time if somones standing still right in front of you. you can hardly see them untill they move . match making and sbmm is the worst thing in cod though
Yeah man I had some personal stuff going on but I should hopefully be back to my schedule now 1-2 videos a week. How have you been ? Glad you’re still around , appreciate that
Ive been replaying them all recently on playstation consoles. So far; Cod 3: Unplayable CoD 4: Unplayable CoD WaW: About 250 players. Most of them were in zombies with one guy waiting to play co-op campaign. MW2: Glitched player count. Very hard to find a lobby. BO1: Actually surprisingly active. Mainly TDM and search but very hacked. MW3: Easily found TDM matches. Has been my least hacked experience. BO2: A few hundred playing but very hacked. Ghosts: Only got ps4 version but its pretty dead. Theres about 110 players on average and its all TDM.
The remastered version of CoD 4 is still very much alive and active for anyone wondering. You can only find TDM though, but still active. So if you wanna play CoD 4 then you gotta play the remastered version.
I got banned for the majority of lobbies in call of duty 4 on computer just for using heavy guns and getting kill streak it's incredibly hard to find a server now and a cheater banned me from MW2
both the original COD (not Finest Hour, the actual original COD) and COD2 both do have active servers on PC and even have competitive scenes. They are harder to navigate but neither game is dead.
CoD 1 actually had a pretty good MP back in the day on PC. It was essentially the first WWII game that had aim down sight mechanics and there was a competitive scene with it in 2003 and 2004. All of the best clans knew each other and we would customize our tags with custom colors doing the (^#) trick. CoD United Offensive added vehicles to the mix and had some great MP maps as well and was like a hybrid between BF 1942 and CoD 1. The Devs that made CoD 1 also made MoH: AA which had my favorite mp in a WWII game. MoH: AA maps were so good and the music was the GOAT.
I played CoD 2 a ton on PC back in the day. I was in a clan too and there even was like a little ESL scene where clans would play in 5v5 matchups against one another which we too did for a good amount of time. The best part honestly were some of the custom multiplayer servers and maps though. Those dedicated servers were a thing of beauty and the communities that formed in them and what they managed to do with all those custom maps and map events. Logging in every day and meeting the same people to have fun with in that one server that you found your home on was just hitting different back then man :D
For those who play in PC, MW3 has available servers and are people still playing and you find games at any hour. For BO2 is the same and for BO1, there is no servers avialable, but comunity servers are available and there are still people playing with almost every type of games (TDE,SD,FFA,etc)
And BO3 is the game with most players in all 4 cod games. And about the cheaters, are the most in bo2 and bo3, but there aren't many hackers and is comfortable to play (some times if you tell them to stop cheating, the leave the game, not joking)
The sever fix only really got players to come back for a few weeks. Most of the games are still struggling with a few hundred players daily. It was just hyped for a couple weeks so everyone was on them again
@About36Greeks I need to check again. The Titanfall 2 servers are fixed, so that's where I've been. I have played MW2 this week, and immediately got matches
I can find matches on WAW rarely but BO1, BO2, and MW2 pretty often on Xbox, after a couple days tho you start to see the same names and realize you're just switching between the same group of people who are still playing or started again cause they still love these games so it's not really active but the group of people who still love these games are keeping the game alive enough to be able to play with full lobbies. Mainly around 6pm onwards is when they're most active in my experience. It may not be as active as at their prime obviously but it's still worth it to play, and way better than the newer cods
The original black ops tried to kill quick scoping, that’s why the sniping feels off…mw2/3 was the prime quick scoping era and a portion of the community was crying because the quick scopers were absolutely cracked and it made for what some people considered an “unfair” gameplay loop where everyone was just getting one shotted across the map or what ever. Trey arch tried to balance this by offsetting sniper ads
Booted up cod4 and WaW on the 360 this past weekend. Found a couple matches immediately for both games. Didn't run across any hackers either (thankfully). But yeah, the entire weekend I was able to easily play both games on xbox live on my 360. It was amazing and super nostalgic lol.
i played alot of call of duty 2. the sniper maps will always carry a spot in my heart. the server based call of dutys will always be a time of greatness
Playing on PC and black ops 1 is very well alive here, we can access servers through a server browser which shows the alive servers. Zombies also has players, so wouldn't say it is dead.
Around the release of Xbox one and ps4, I made it a goal of beating every call of duty, since in 2013 the old games were getting really cheap, but ever since WW2 and beyond, I stopped caring about playing the new ones. I eventually will, but I haven’t even beat Infinite Warfare yet
I was lucky enough to play CoD 3 a little over 10 years ago, but I always had a team member that would team kill friendly fire and try to report me. Still, with vehicles it was great.
I think the problem you say on BO1 and MW3 it's only on NA, cause on Europe servers it finds match on both games in less than 5 seconds, ive playin both for 5+hours with full lobbies and not on weekend
I think the older 360 era games have much higher player bases on Xbox than PlayStation because of backwards compatibility on Xbox and being able to still play all those old games on any Xbox released currently and on PlayStation for those older games you need to have a ps3 still to play those older games…
Don’t message hackers ever. Don’t talk shit to them either. It’s annoying but the ones with actual JTAGs on Bo2 can derank you and break your game, making it so you can’t even load into matches anymore. It’s not worth it. Luckily I found a way to fix your account but it’s still a horrible thing to do to people and it literally hurts the community and makes it smaller. Hackers are just total scumbags.

Community was always small but there were usually at least a couple populated matches going on and since there was actually a server browser on the 360 version, you didn't have to wait 50 years to find the active matches. An almost insultingly underrated game.
Bro COD3 was so amazing. Back then cod was all about having fun and not sweating like it is now. Truly great memories
I remember cod 2 and 3 being counterstrike clones played by people that couldn't play counterstrike
Precious game
That BAR was a monster in COD3
He is bad at call of duty
Cod 3 was also my first.
Such an underrated game.
Dude this game was so glitched lmao. I remember playing capture the flag and when I had the flag occasionally when I struck people with the flag I would go flying across the map 😭😭
@GoldenStateOfMind831 I've heard the ps3 and wii versions are all messed up. The 360 port(which I played) is relatively polished though.
mine was ww2
Fr dude. It’s kinda a throw back to og cod. It was just a simple game and was pretty good imo
The class building system after all the updates is really fun and allows a lot of freedom. You get really good perks when you prestige.
I low key loved advance warfare, it's underrated and underappreciated
I loved the online and the zombies but for me the campaign wasn't very good, same with infinite warfare.
@@roccojames4703infinite warfare imo is just a more flesh out out aw with bo3ish movement
Both advanced warfare and infinite warfare were garbage including bo3.
@@carymnuhgibrilsamadalnasud1222 story, yes. Online not so much
I've been playing BO1 consistently for the past 2 weeks and been finding games okay.
Cod ww2 isn’t dead on ps4
Or on Xbox, it usually seems fine to me
CoD3 old player here.
You forgot call of duty black ops declassified 😡😭😭
OG MW3 felt like OG MW2, and now the new MW3 feels like an expansion of MW22. Crazy how history repeats itself.
Good times.
cod ghost is sure as hell definitely living up to its name nowadays that’s for sure
I used to play COD finest hour on PS2 . The online multiplayer was fun as hell. It holds a special place in my heart. COD 2 I didn't play much as I don't have an Xbox. I remember when COD 3 came out it was cool for a few weeks, but then my clan went back to Finest Hour.
they need to remaster finest hour.
Big red one was cool too
@@joeystrait7987 100% agree
Fun fact, Call of Duty 3 was rated Mature on Xbox 360 and Teen on PlayStation 3, I have no clue why though 😂
Is it still active? I might need to get a p3 again omg
@@Steeezzzzz Yes
@Steeezzzzz There is a glitch on bo2 for the ps3 were the screen freezes while loading into the menu. I looked it up and it seems that this is a big problem, and obviously it won't be fixed because treyarch is no longer updating the game
@wholelottagangshid For me, it crashed repeatedly on the first mission of the game
Cold War was so underrated, I loved that game
WaW is holding on by a thread but is playable
BO2 is hacked beyond repair
MW2 Hacked to shit
MW3 is bugged
COD4 is holding on by a thread but is playable
WaW will always be my favorite cod of all time…. That’s my 1st cod I started with and that’s when the zombies era was born! Glad I was apart of it ! Bout to hop on it now lol ya bo2, mw classics were a,ways bugged/hacked and never played those in a long time.bo2 I didn’t like since the zombie rounds were tough af lol
When it comes to PS3 versions, BO1 is extremely active, when I load in, i get full lobbies of no hackers
BO4 on PS feels like it's more popular than MW2022. I'm finding games alot faster and also Blackout servers lol
Bo4 is even rocking on xbox, ive been playing so much rebirth in blackout its amazing
bo4 last cod where you can stay in the same lobby 🤯
BO4 has some of my favourite maps, weapons, and overall gameplay of all time. The whole specialist thing sucked but it only became unplayable when they added a specialist who could hijack the other team's equipment and streaks.
Hackers are an issue in older cod games, it does suck that those losers think its cool to cheat on a game
Lifeless people
Tbh there's more hackers on modern CoD 💀
just get a mod menu so modders cant join you since your forced host
MW:2019 to this date is still my #1 modern COD game, especially the campaign
MW3:2023 is such a massive bummer
Played CoD 1 only on single player because I didn't have internet back then. Played CoD2 intensively in 2008-2010. Was a great experience with interesting maps (thinking about Toujane, Sainte-Mère-Eglise, Burgundy ..) Thinking about it, I loved nearly all of them :). The biggest problem I remember was the grenade spamming.
MW3 still has lobbies on Xbox. Found a lobby instantly on a Wednesday at around 6:30 PM CST.
CoD 3 was amazing in my opinion. RIP... so many fond memories
i used play cod3 on my slim ps2 back in the day i kinda cried when they killed frank
If they were to remaster another CoD storyline, B-Ops is one that would be awesome to see them do.
cod really did go down hill after the black ops days . the thing that stands out most to me is how in all the older cods . it was easy to see your enemy but in all the newest ones half the time if somones standing still right in front of you. you can hardly see them untill they move . match making and sbmm is the worst thing in cod though
Which multiplayer should I start playing right now? I have a ps5
Modern warfare 2019. Best cod before current gen

@@About36GreeksI’ve been good 👍
Even the hackers have left WaW, which is a good thing. I may try again after 6 years or so
the server issue on black ops 1 is now fixed and so many people play. i usually get a full game in zombies and 8-10 players in multi player
Yo I still run WW2 on Xbox one
Yep same here mainly on war mode
Bo1 cant hold a candle to Bo2, they feel like they're generations apart.
na fr
There would be gameplay on all the games if they got rid of SBMM.
Ive been replaying them all recently on playstation consoles. So far;
Cod 3: Unplayable
CoD 4: Unplayable
CoD WaW: About 250 players.
Yeah ghost is most famous for the extinction mode.
The remastered version of CoD 4 is still very much alive and active for anyone wondering. You can only find TDM though, but still active. So if you wanna play CoD 4 then you gotta play the remastered version.
COD 3 was awesome back in the day, WAW was one of my favorites too.
I got banned for the majority of lobbies in call of duty 4 on computer just for using heavy guns and getting kill streak it's incredibly hard to find a server now and a cheater banned me from MW2
uninstall your map packs for mw2/3, iirc you can only queue with people with the same map packs
both the original COD (not Finest Hour, the actual original COD) and COD2 both do have active servers on PC and even have competitive scenes.
Tbh I agree on ur take on Cold War, I recently got back after like 4 years of not playing COD and Cold War felt cool and nostalgic
Cold War is still very active on all game modes
Since Bo4, Cold War has been my favorite. Sledgehammer fucked up on Cold War & Treyarch had to step up and fixed SHG mistake and during covid too
Cold war is so good man
Rising tides lobby music and the old bo2 maps damn man
COD MW 2019 was my peak COD, It was my quarantine game and I'm so happy it was.
Call of Duty 2 on PC was revolutionary ❤
Bro went missing for months then came back and dropped 3 bangers in 1 day
Hahaha 🤣
Cod3 still has players, it’s strange
For those who play in PC, MW3 has available servers and are people still playing and you find games at any hour. For BO2 is the same and for BO1, there is no servers avialable, but comunity servers are available and there are still people playing with almost every type of games (TDE,SD,FFA,etc)
And BO3 is the game with most players in all 4 cod games. And about the cheaters, are the most in bo2 and bo3, but there aren't many hackers and is comfortable to play (some times if you tell them to stop cheating, the leave the game, not joking)
Now that the servers are mostly fixed, its Ghost that is finally dead.
The servers are not fixed for the ps3 version’s of the classic cod games:(
Man BO1 for zombies but Im taking BO2 for 6v6. BO1 anti sniping agenda pissed me off at lauch haha
BO1 sniping was really rewarding tho. It felt like slow Mo sniping! It was only reliable when you were host tho :P
Anyone remember MEDAL OF HONOR?
I played the original MOH on the PS1 a ton back in the day.
I remember when they slightly nerfed the ADS speed on the DSR-50 and they were sent a bunch of death threats by really mad quickscopers.
Sniping was way better in bo1 imo it had a learning curve
MW3 tried to kill trickshooting by removing the Y Y
Booted up cod4 and WaW on the 360 this past weekend. Found a couple matches immediately for both games. Didn't run across any hackers either (thankfully). But yeah, the entire weekend I was able to easily play both games on xbox live on my 360. It was amazing and super nostalgic lol.
beginning with MW1 2019 all CODs are very active. I think u have a connection problem with Cold War because i find matches instantly
Same I could barely find any Black Ops 3 multiplayer lobby’s
I have to say, my favorite online COD experience was AW. Really underrated multiplayer imo
For BO(2010) you can definitely find lobbies on PC, from capture and flag to team death match mostly.
i played alot of call of duty 2. the sniper maps will always carry a spot in my heart. the server based call of dutys will always be a time of greatness
Really want to buy cold war but living in Australia means even less player base so I'm scared to waste money
Thinking same it cant be that bad can it thinking either getting thay or modern warfare 2019
Im surprised Vanguard still get matches
Considering most people disliked it but Black Ops 4 and Ghosts you can find lobbies
I was lucky enough to play CoD 3 a little over 10 years ago, but I always had a team member that would team kill friendly fire and try to report me. Still, with vehicles it was great.
On zombies on bo3 pc it’s still filled with people, almost everyone actually knows what they’re doing too.
Bo3 was still really full until about 2 years ago. Once again it’s the hacks that ruined it so sad these older titles just get no support whatsoever
I think the problem you say on BO1 and MW3 it's only on NA, cause on Europe servers it finds match on both games in less than 5 seconds, ive playin both for 5+hours with full lobbies and not on weekend
Yeah that part of the video was before the servers were fixed. It’s better now for sure. People on both games
I play Xbox and I find matches quick and easy especially tdm. Also matchmaking is different if you have dlc installed
Black ops 1 being better than black ops 2 is one of the hottest tales I've ever heard
I think the older 360 era games have much higher player bases on Xbox than PlayStation because of backwards compatibility on Xbox and being able to still play all those old games on any Xbox released currently and on PlayStation for those older games you need to have a ps3 still to play those older games…
CoD 2 was an absolute nightmare on Veteran. Multiplayer was a blast while it lasted. Cool video, man - gonna go watch your Battlefield one next.
The sniping being bad on BO1 was the best part, no one did it and matches weren't slowed down by people chilling in the back.
Everyone wants Jet Packs to return because we didn’t understand the memories we took for granted from those games
i actually really enjoyed the commentary on your opinion of the games
9:25 very ironic to how it is now
Seriously a game with under 5k players is considered a dead game. with based skill matchmaking and other modes and ranks it's gonna be long to queue.
For BO1 on xbox in EU servers, i play nearly daily, finding full lobbies of tdm most of the time. Not sure whats up with NA servers
Ghosts,WW2,and IW are all underrated extremely
Black Ops is full of people today on XBOX One, its hard to find an empty lobby
Don’t message hackers ever. Don’t talk shit to them either. It’s annoying but the ones with actual JTAGs on Bo2 can derank you and break your game, making it so you can’t even load into matches anymore. It’s not worth it. Luckily I found a way to fix your account but it’s still a horrible thing to do to people and it literally hurts the community and makes it smaller. Hackers are just total scumbags.
ive never heard anyone ever refer to mw3 as an expansion or dlc to mw2 or called it mw2.5. There's so much to set it apart from mw2
