"Discovery" was yet another underrated album from the great Mike Oldfield with astounding rock songs and the ultra beautiful instrumental " The lake".
I'm a singer and songwriter myself and a huge fan of Mike Oldfield. Barry Palmer is absolutely the best singer that has ever sung with Mike Oldfield! Not only Barry's very good voice, but vocally he fitted so well to the sound, harmony and musical style of Mike Oldfield. Just perfect. I don't understand why Mike Oldfield didn't continue making songs with Barry. Barry is the best.
He seemed to fit singers to the songs . Not making singers perform songs that did not suit the lyrics and style . Like Bonnie with Islands . he bypassed Anita for that track

When they were on, during the Crisis and Discovery tours (from what I can see and hear) they were phenomenal. Maggie and Barry, Phil and Simon and the guy on 2nd guitar plus the guys doing Mike's keyboards of course. It was magical. Not all the shows I've seen were that good. But when they were on? Especially Wembley....wow!

Nice seeing the now deceased Phil Spalding though he himself did not contribute to the studio album, Discovery (evidently!).
On a different note, I remember hearing this on the Friday in 2004/2006 before the February Half-Term of each of those years. Once en route to Oxford and the other to someone's 21st Birthday up in Bicester.

No. Listen to the CD, this is no playback. And no, 80 and 90 was not always playback, today it's normal that world stars lip syncing!
This is 100 % playback, I’ve heard this song hundreds of times. Wish it was live though, would have been epic 😊
