So, I was pretty young when I first saw Three Missing Links, and I watched it quite often in my early childhood due to it being one of the few Three Stooges shorts I had access to. I often had trouble understanding exactly what was going on in many pieces of entertainment, especially with dialogue. Interesting, I used to think that the stooges knew that the lion was tickling them, as for example, when Moe said "Stop tickling my feet", kid me thought he said "The lion's tickling my feet." I also didn't understand that just because someone is laughing when tickled, it doesn't mean they're enjoying it. I only thought they got freaked out by the lion when it roared. Eventually later in my childhood, I was able to fully understand the actual dialogue, and the scene made sense then.
You have some real "classic gems here"! You might want to look for a couple of other clips: One involves Curley going "wild" over the smell of a perfume called "Wild Hyacint" and Moe had to tickle his foot to "calm him down". Another involves Moe, Larry and Joe having their feet tickled by "outer space women". That one is also a rare scene because it involves Larry having his feet tickled! Moe seemed to love having his feet tickled the most. I guess because he came across so "tough". That was his "weakness" as it were.
That took some real nerves of steel to let the lion lick their feet. I don't think I could do it and remember my dialogue! The question shouldn't be "What's the big idea?" It should be "Who came up with this idea anyway?"

3:17 Dont forget the best foot ticking episode, Self Made Maids!! The 3 stooges play 3 girls who are going to marry the 3 stooges as the 3 stooges. The female 3 stooges are wearing dresses, nylon stockings and high heels. They have to get the fathers consent who is also played by Moe. After a physical confrontation with the father the father finds out the guys who want to marry his daughters are the guys who roughed him up earlier so he winds up chasing them through the house trying to attack them but instead the 3 stooges keep knocking him around and getting him even more pissed off. At the end the 3 stooges wrap the father up in curtains (cocooning him) so only his head and feet are sticking out and drag him to a chair where the daughter's are standing and watching as the stooges ask the father if he'll consent to the daughters marriage to which the father is really pissed off and shouts out, NEVER, ILL NEVER CONSENT!! So Shemp says, "Do your stuff Moe"!! Moe then removes his shoe and starts tickling the hell out of the fathers foot while the other stooges watch and hold the father down! It's great, Moe is laughing hysterically while his socked foot is aggressively being tickled! They give the father a rest and ask again if he'll consent and he gets angrier and says NEVER NEVER So moe more aggressively tickles his foot while the father is laughing hysterically!! Then the father finally says,, I CONSENT,, I CONSENT!! Wouldve been even better if Moe took both his shoes and both socks Off, then tickled the hell out of the fathers bare feet with a feather!! Or if the daughters helped to tickle his feet! And its always better with tickle talk like Cootchi, Coochie Cooo, tickle tickle tickle,,,Heh!! Shemp has a part at the beginning where he puts his nylon stocking leg up on the bed and complains about having a run in his stockings while rubbing his hand down his leg! He actually had nice legs in nylons,, whoa! Yea I agree with the other comment here, the director must've had a serious foot and feet tickling fetish! At an early age watching these, it was pretty funny, but stimulating at same time,, WEIRD!
