I was so sad and sorry to hear about Carla’s passing last year 😢she will be missed. Jovial and Einkorn have so improved my life!
😟 What?! I had no idea she passed away! That makes me so sad.
I really enjoy einkorn. I have the book, and so far my favorite recipe is the Tomato and Rosemary Whole Grain Focaccia Rounds. A very memorable bread! I prefer to mill my grain, and think it’s cheaper than buying the flour.
It’s indeed so inspiring to so many of us to know all this info about einkorn but most especially about this one lady Carla who went out of her comfort zone to get this rolling from being a forgotten grain! What a pioneer and what great work for a woman to get behind! Surely I’ll be thinking of her each time I bake with this flour or even order from Canada where the foods available on the shelves are more poison than food, just dressed in beautiful colours and labels. So after all the eye opening things that happened about our health in these past 2-3 years, this is something many like me will be looking into as a very healthy and happy grain choice. Thank you! And thanks to Carla. May her soul rest in eternal peace. 🙏🏼❣️
Just a wonderful story on how Carla and her family brought back Einkorn to the world. I just ordered the cookbook. Thank you.💕
Great information!! Thank you for the podcast. I have a friend who is doing Einkorn sourdough and I do regular sourdough but have Einkorn grains. I have been using it in cookies and pastries that don't need a rise. Great flavor and you do feel different eating it.
Appreciate mentioning the book. I have been using einkorn for years now but needed some guidance
fantastic one Heather!
I love this!
Let's get baking!
The Keifir Queen Chef Caytlin says Jovial Einkorn was great for her & she uses it exclusively in her restrauant in wilmington no. Carolina she was a celiac sufferer talk to her/ I just made a pizza with the jovial einkorn Fabulus!
I live in West Australia. Where online can I purchase Einkorn flour. I have tried to order from Jovial site with no success. Thanks from SWAustralia ☘️👍
Modern wheat istreated with round up, that is glysophate which is a weed killer that modern wheat has been bred is resist. Einkorn is almost exclusively organic , no glysophate
If this video doesn't tell me WHEN to plant Einkorn, i might lose my mind. I've literally searched for years to figure out the answer to this and no one seems to think it's a relevant question to answer.
Can you make baked treats with einkorn sourdough?
Where is this cookbook?
I don’t see the link for the scale?
Would einkorn be good for someone with a wheat allergy?
No, it is too closely erlated. Do you have wheat allergy or gluten sensitiveity?
I have a wheat allergy and can tolerate it well. Many people can with gluten and wheat allergy.
@25:46, does she not know she’s being filmed and shown on YT?
Can I get einkorn seeds for growing from your farm pls.
Is einkorn low carb ?
Jovial's Einkorn wheat berries have the hull removed so it's taking out the good stuff. I bought a pound of them and tried to sprout and they wouldn't. I called and they said they had removed the hull for shelf life. Makes no sense cuz the berries have a long shelf life.
There might be some confusion about the hull and husk? We remove the husk: see this blog post: jovialfoods.com/blog/how-we-remove-einkorns-husk/ This post also shows photos of the berries with the husk removed, hull intact. The einkorn berries are smaller and softer than modern wheat berries so they will not sprout as well in the regular method. There are sprouting instructions in the cookbook and we are happy to share if you email us! info@jovialfoods.com
@@JovialFoodsInc Yes, I did mistaken the hull for the husk. Then what is the hull that some wheat is sold dehulled and some hulled? I see in your instructions to soak for 12 hours and then rinse/keep moist for another day or so. But that's exactly what i did and they never sprouted. But I figured I would try once again. Knowing that the chromosome count is different in Einkorn as well as gluten/phytic acid, I might not need to sprout them. I do find that sprouting any seed/grain, makes them get bigger and plump so I feel like I am getting more. LOL
@@Godis3inOne sometimes 'hull' and 'husk' are used interchangeably. You can't remove the skin of the seed so perhaps they mean the dehulled means dehusked? The sprouting process can take more than 24 hours if they are not rinsed regularly.
Thanks for your super helpful reply!
@@JovialFoodsInc why are you removing anything??

Never cover your growing starter with a lid. Use a towel or cheesecloth
They say all the yeast and bacteria exists on the flour before you make the starter, so that's why you can cover it with a tight lid. It works.
Of course your kids loved meat and bread.
