I've run 4-5 packs thru mine out front. Power sliding, hard braking, 360's, jumps, tumbles (over the side, and over the top).....Also hit a full trash can at 2/3 power... I've been Pushing it pretty hard..................Zero issues.
mine arrived today...whoa it's massive...not had an 1/8th scale since Hot Bodies Lightning nitro many years ago. swapped in a bluebird brushless 30kg, 0.05s servo, 4s graphene 65c pack, whole roll of cloth duck tape inside the body (no rattles/wobble now), foam washers under clips (now with retainers like yours), set ESC to 7.4V BEC, dumbo gyro receiver and pressed go. it goes. it really goes. next a bit of shock oil weight tuning. I hear 900cst (about 70 weight) oil is a good starting point. I never take my vehicles out in the wet as it takes ages to clean them properly. maybe I need an airline...
I plan to buy the Eztec Rally Legends Lancia Stratos for my 1st rally rc. They are the original best looking rally rc cars. Took forever to find a site that sells to US. Been trying for years but finally found a German site. I will consider this 1 though. Good review.
HPI seems destined to get my money. Either this one or the WR8 flux with the Subaru Impreza rally body. My cousin brought his WR8 over to my house and I spent the afternoon falling madly in love with it. I think I could learn to love this one as well. $200 cheaper sweetens deal..

It definitely has more ground clearance than I thought....In Person it's impressive.... It's size too is surprising..... It's got to be real close to the Slash Ultimate LCG chassis I'd imagine.
The truth is buggy truck style already flooded in the market. And I really hope other manufacturers start making rally car RC. Because if I'm being honest, I'm not a fan of buggy truck style rc.
Tamiya have been making rally cars for decades. Their XV-01 is one of the best rally chassis on the market. HPI came out with a 1/8 scale rally car not too long ago.
I mean there’s trophy trucks?, you can lower the shocks.. slap on roads wheels, with a rally body, If I’m not wrong losi 5T has a VW bug and a rally body.. I own the bug body for my L5T, and I have no reason to lie to you it feels exactly like a rally car! (:

Looks based on the Road Flux R, great cars for the price, love the body, although seems to suffer from the rear breaking away to easily as well, think this is due to the camber and there are some shims on the top rear arms you can remover with improves the camber
@@beyondRC It doesn't even need to do skatepark i used the older flux the shitty truck looknig one it was expensive here in hungary about 12000 HUF (28 pounds)cheaper than the traxxas rustler and broke in a few places drivetrain and the arms and parts here are like finding a white crow and i doesn't even absued it the crashes were accidental at max and msotly on grass or dirt road with a very few runs on concrete still broke...

Looks like a great bit of kit. I feel like it needs some protection for the inside like the dedicated rally car kits. Not sure if maverick do a buggy body for this chassis to fit under the main body to act as a mud guard?
Looking forward to a more throrough test on dirt. Maybe go to a 1/8th or 1/10th (maybe more reasonable, for the size of the jumps) scale outdoor buggy track, and see how it does there?
Got this is US from Amain for $250 shipped. It is an unbeatable deal and a phenomenal performer at 4S. For reference I have Arrma Mojave 6s, Kyosho Mad Van VE as my other toys currently. Maverick is incredibly agile, easy to handle and fast. J turns are effortless, handing is amazing in stock form. Body does scrape when turning at high speed, but it is what it is. Compared to Mojave 6s, it is less refined but you are paying less than 1/2.
Mad value, as I can't put together anything to match, even with used parts, for the same price. For triple price it's easy to DIY something better, but then... 3x the price. :) I've been planning to make a custom 1/8 Repsol-livery Racing Laner with an aluminum chassis with 1/10 short course drivetrain and arms. But I'm seriously leaning toward buying this instead, which would cut the build cost by at least 50%
I have an hpi wr8, thia are also little beasts.. .the problem is that rally off road means nothing for an rc car. Yes they andle a little offroad session but a track qith small stones on it , or just irregular offroad and every tipe of grass will eventually block them. They look cool, they surely ca face some difficult terrain better than onroad car , theie chaszis are a littke higher than them, but nothing else. If u want to go purely offroad short course or monster trucks , some buggys or truggys are the way to go
Exactly. Got to admit it looks cool, but performance wise it's not as fun as pure off road or pure on road RC car. I had Traxxas Rally before but it's very limiting on how and where I can play it.

I am curious about the SkyRC GC301 Gyro. It can use the stock transmitter and just plug in (in line).....In-between the Receiver and the Servo. You can adjust the gain onboard the car..... Of course if you did have a different 3 or more channel transmitter with a dial knob, you can control the gain from the transmitter too.... BUT, just an in option without changing out the Tx and Rx.
@@beyondRC it's pretty fun. Might need a little suspension tuning but I've been running mine on high grip surfaces. From your video it seems like it does a lot better on loose or wet ground. I need to take it out tomorrow. It's been a while.
Looks quite nice this car.. I'd love like to se a 1:8 zd racing pirates 3 truggy on your channel. Just bought a roller and put a 150A esc and 4076 motor in it :) It's my favorite rc right now.
My biggest concern about buying a car like this, is tire availability. It's a uncommon size and category(1:8 rally, 100x42mm and 17mm hex), so there's really no aftermarket tires that match it 100%. My best guess is 1:8 buggy tires, but most of them are 110-120mm tall. The closest I could find, are dBoots Hoons(100/42mm 17mm hex), but they are only good for on-road use. So the question is: What tire category will fit, without rubbing or sticking out?
Good points.....But 110mm isn't too bad, though. I was already checking out 1/8 buggy tire/wheel combos. I wouldn't hesitate to run some 110mm meats.....Especially with the Dirt Biting lugs, AND the increase in ground clearance the 1/8 buggy tires would provide!

you will get parts easier for the maverick, its also larger and 4s capable. It doesn't have gimmicky features like the LED lights on the Rlaarlo but the body is very weak, I did a video of the best upgrades to do on the rx flux its worth checking out. both solid trucks but if you want something slightly larger and more capable get the maverick

i was really surprised when you said it's an HPI, it's clearly another companies car. HPI has almost nothing in that price point with those specs and the body style is very budget looking. with how badly the re-release of the SavageXL was i dont trust HPI to build anything great anymore. i'm honestly surprised they are still around
they are barely still around.. Clinging on. This is a Maverick branded car but maverick is owned by HPI. HPI also own Blackzon which are rebranded HBX models and aimed at the budget market. I think maverick and blackzon are the only thing keeping them alive.

Dont care if I am haha! I have made it publicly known I am against skate park videos as I find a lot of channels do it to get views and have the disposable income to smash cars to bits. I'm free to speak my mind (my channel) and testing RC cars at skateparks is not a good indicator as to how good an RC car is.. any RC car hitting concrete after a huge jump will break. I have seen brand reputation in pieces after some videos on here which is unfair. 9/10 people never run at skateparks. Finally I have young kids and teaching them to respect their toys is what I am about.. I certainly would not tolerate my son smashing up an RC car I saved up for to buy him for his birthday with so little respect. Hey we are all different. .. If those channels feel hated on they can contact me and I will repeat all of the above. youtube is about being your own person not following the crowd. End of

For what it is for "rally type driving" the ground clearance seams pretty nice. The more realistic chassis often are pretty low.

I wonder if there is a gyro sensor. I think you must have a gyro to have good straightness on off-road. This is a great video.
no in built gyro but something like a dumbo rc x6f with gyro would work perfeclty

Dont care if I am haha! I have made it publicly known I am against skate park videos as I find a lot of channels do it to get views and have the disposable income to smash cars to bits. I'm free to speak my mind (my channel) and testing RC cars at skateparks is not a good indicator as to how good an RC car is.. any RC car hitting concrete after a huge jump will break. I have seen brand reputation in pieces after some videos on here which is unfair. 9/10 people never run at skateparks. Finally I have young kids and teaching them to respect their toys is what I am about.. I certainly would not tolerate my son smashing up an RC car I saved up for to buy him for his birthday with so little respect. Hey we are all different. .. If those channels feel hated on they can contact me and I will repeat all of the above. youtube is about being your own person not following the crowd. End of

Anything that’s not tarmac I would consider off road. Roads are generally made of tarmac 👍😁
