37 seconds to the start of race 4 - the director is showing an onboard. Do you not understand that the couple of minutes before the start are a crucial part of the race? We want to see the big picture - not meaningless close-ups. Just because you can doesn't mean that you should. Apart from that great coverage. I love sail GP. Thank you
Me & my Mrs sitting here watching it all in awe, saying Sydney is soo beautiful every 30seconds 🙌🏻🙌🏻 I actually love sailing can’t wait for Christchurch 😍😍
Sydney, San Francisco, Plymouth UK, Saint Tropez, New York Harbor...THESE are the legendary and beautiful sailing venues SailGP should be focusing on, not the persian gulf!
Take out the start in race one and Slingsby stuffed the rest of them big time. Why keep up on the windward side of the line and get hunted every race ?
Great coverage, but give the graphics guy a nudge to wake him up. You guys didn't include the wind direction arrows, kind of critical info especially for hydro foiling cats since their sail is always close hauled and it's difficult to determine wind direction.
Can someone please explain the jumping the start penalty system in Sail GP. Why are they not sent back behind the line like other sailing classes ? With Aust jumping the start and only just beating Denmark to the finish line it doesn't make sense to me.
@@SailGP Thanks! But just so i'm clear are able to say that the full livestream on youtube etc is restricted in certain countries due to local broadcasting etc for certain races so that's why it comes up later for me? Despite the local restrictions will a full livestream replay be generally available a few days after the events? I'm trying to figure out how to watch and keep up with the sport but I struggle to keep up with who broadcasts what, when and where.
Yes stay away from Persian gulf and do sailing in places that have sailing traditions and wind. WA Perth could do with a race. They would certainly be foiling 😂
They've talked about possibly doing two events in NZ because of the demand, but Australia is even bigger (physically and population-wise), so if we can have multiple US events, why not multiple Australian ones?
GBR timing is a problem for them, they don't start, they begin. Seem to like sailing in everybody's dirt. They lose so much on mark roundings. I'm sure they will get better, I hope.
If that was computer generated umpires, they clearly need someone to sort out the code. In the final AU failed to keep clear to weather of NZ at the first mark, and on the last beat AU clearly tacked way too close to NZ. And GE in the second race failed to keep clear to weather of NZ. Bloody mess.
What was Tom Slingsby thinking in races 4, 5 and final. Some of the worst starts I have even seen. If Australian has an on board tactician helping call the start, his / her position on the ccrew should be reviewed. Doug Ringholt .
Nz and Aus tries to have inappropriate relations with Den and should be knocked to second and third for lack of gamesmanship. The race should happen on the course not on the barge....
I can't help but feel the start of these races are to important, Like the boat that starts the best normally wins. kinda makes the races lame wish they had a way to make the racing better and not all about the start.
Bloody hell, Slingsby is like the worst starter ever. How on earth is he winning so much in SailGP is a mystery. Its just incomprehensible what he does at starts. He either willingly goes all the way back behind everybody and then cannot do anything from there. OR, when on a rare occasion he does decide to go in front, he always stuffs it up big time, like he did in this Final. He did not deserve to win it. The only reason he did was that NZ made incredibly stupid mistake with early start penalty for no reason at all. NZ absolutely should have seen that AU and DEN were tangled together around that mark and all NZ had to do was to take a clean start and sail away to victory. Burling would have won this Final hands down, would not even have to work for it.
How to triple the number of subscriptions for SailGP? Easily done: eject Todd Harris. He is the worst commentator in the history of sports commentary. Replace him with Ken Read.
Get rid of these homer announcers! Their noses are up the downunder boats so far I don’t think they could blow them! All they showed in that last race was the 7th place and 8th place boats. Guess whose boats they where? Get a pair of announcers that are not so biased! PLEASE!
Wooo! That was a blast! It's been five years and Sydney is always memorable!
Video quality and graphics are better for this event than the last few. Thanks for the improvements.
🎉 great final. Stick to locations with wind - powered by nature❤

I suppose a shirt night: It`s good to see Canada back !
Great coverage but I would prefer more birds eye view and less close ups.
I agree.
Has anyone inspected the austrslian boat to see if there are hidden motors in the hulls?
🤣🤣🤣
Race 5: What is the "S" penalty before the start on Switzerland and Germany?
Our Umpires have confirmed this was a boundary penalty pre-start!
Start penalty.

@17:49 YEEEESSSS NATHAN!!!!!!
Congratulation Germany France Australia
Don't forget to LIKE the video
Great racing! Congrats Germany for the win! Denmark handed that final to the Aussies with that mistake too close to the mark! Fantastic days racing!
Way to spoil 2 races in 1 comment, thank you for that.
why on earth would you be reading comments BEFORE watching? LOL that's on you. @@chrispbacon9769

AUS needed at least a second penalty….

Why so many freezes? It's annoying! The image freezes every 10 seconds!
Regarding the potential penalty against Germany, don’t the officials depend on a digital tracking to determine a violation?
It's always been about their bias personal opinion more than anything.
What's up with GB ?
Different skipper. Sir Ben Ainsele left, so did the performance, unfortunately...
They picked the wrong replacement skipper. Hannah Mills would be more entertaining (first female skipper) and maybe the better choice.
Whoa! What a battle! Too bad for France, too little too late that time
Giles Scott’s “newbie’ excuse has now expired.
Gbr never should have ditched Dillon fletcher
Dang! The Kiwis had the start in the last race until...
…..until they got it totally wrong.

With Aust jumping the start and only just beating Denmark to the finish line it doesn't make sense to me.
I suppose it is because they don’t manoeuvre as well as monohull dinghies so recrossing the line would be hazardous and slow.
Does anyone have any advice on why I couldn't find this during the event or even 1 day after? It has just come up in my feed today
Hi Lachie, head to SailGP.com/watch to see how to best watch from you location!

@@onlinetuna I've been following on UA-cam and the full day replays are posted 3 days afterwards. The Sydney event was streamed live on local TV.

Maybe a better wind direction today.
Never seen so many boats late for a start. This race is in Australia, you sure you don’t mean genesis island, $ pimps!
have you seen some of the other sports? Stadium naming, formula 1 is nothing but ads/sponsors. It is what makes the sport continue
Please, please, please cut the friggin' close ups....we all want to see the bigger picture.
I saw it for the first time! Why does this loosen? Please tell me! And this competition is very exciting

Giles Scott is still learning I suppose.
When an American commentator discovers a new phrase about Europe "The Great Dane" - x 1000000
to be honest I do kind of feel like the aussies are always very lucky with the umpires
Bravo
We need more onboard shot from behind , the helicopter flights are looking more x d more like a video game.
We need access to what the umpires see.

Denmark deserved to win. Two small mistakes and win's gone

Gosh, that's very negative, I'm sure they have a bit more grit and determination than that. They need encouragement. Where's your spirit.
So you just want the favorites to race, then? Boring.
