this has to be the sole time in wrestling history that Scott Hall was worried about someone else's sobriety.
Haha Good point! Surprisingly though, addicts actually often worry about others even though they have basically given up on themselves. Sounds bizarre, but it happens.
You are both spot on... 👍
Hall did work in ECW for a minute
Addicts tend to be more sensitive than the average Joe because they suffer so much pain. This makes them worry about others but not themselves though. This is often tied to childhood trauma where they are often put in the position where they are made to feel responsible for others' feelings and actions. Some are parentfied, made into avatars of romantic partners for those in a parental position (emotional incest is incest), and/or without guardianship so they must fend for themselves and sometimes act as parents and breadwinners at a very young age for siblings. There is not an addict alive who isn't in pain. Addiction isn't recreational drug use. Addiction is self medication of pain, mental, physical, spiritual, and everything in between and overlapping. If you were hurt as a child, know that, that abuse does not have to define you like it did Roddy. You can be healed. But you must first be very brave and ask for help. And remember, everyone's treatment path is going to be different, rarely smooth, and often long and varied. You can also start on your own right now. And as long as you remember that you call fall off the wagon and get right back on, you'll be okay. Don't let a bad night stop your healing momentum. You matter. I see your pain and I believe you.
@@savagecatgt not my point
Piper had a fascinating life. The odds really were against him. He had plenty of reason to be paranoid based on his life experience. He was abandoned as a child and grew up in a native Canadian reservation as the outsider, said he was the weakest kid his age and when he first went to the New York territory he got treated terribly. The other workers sabotaged his bagpipes so they wouldn't work and the number of guys played ribs on him that were sexual in nature. His big dream his whole life was just to have a family of his own.
Pretty sure he said flat-out Pat Patterson either molested him, or tried to molest him.
I think more than anything, Pat being an aggressive homosexual is why Vince kept him around for so long. Even without his terrific wrestling mind.
Piper was pure comedy and miss him like I miss Eddie Guerro. They were tremendous in wrestling and they could work.
That big smiling Disco head always cracks me up!
then you should check out the video version
That picture of Disco reminds me how corny & cringeworthy WCW was in 1999
GUYS, go check out Piper vs Flair at Bash At The Beach 97, hands down it's Piper's best WCW match
@@Smackerz1988 I'm gonna go rewatch it
Piper was one of the first Heels that were likable. He just looked like a normal guy, but he always took a good beating !!!
@Black Phillip Seen it and loved it when I was a kid, but I dont think it would hold up today

I was reading your comment as I was listening to him talk, I almost spit out my food
@@gibsonzak75 😂
🤣😂🤣😂 Now I can't get that thought out of my head
I've seen it discussed in comments before but it's been a little while. That was literally the first thing that I noticed about this channel. When I first noticed it, I thought "since when did Kermit start doing a pro wrestling themed podcast?" 😂
Yes he does
Wonderful story to start off the work week here. It’s always interesting to hear the different wrinkles of these behind the scenes anecdotes. I enjoy learning more about how the workings of wrestling come together, and how the personalities that make it happen react to their own obstacles. Thank you for all of what you do and have done! Stay safe and have a wonderful holiday
Roddy Piper is a strange guy: he really is one of the all time GOATs yet he was never a strong wrestler.
He is deceased. He was plenty strong, if you look at his younger days, he had decent pipes. He was never a body guy though.
Nobody needs to do 7 star matches in the Tokyo Dome
@@michaelbarker3749 he never really had good matches besides the Brett match. I just never got he never put anyone over. They literally gave him hogan savage type of treatment but he was never as big as them.
@@Cream-2128 he could work a crowd into a frenzy though
@@michaelbarker3749 Piper vs Bret Hart, may be the only match of his that I would ever rewatch.
PUT THE SMILING DISCO HEAD ON A SHIRT AND I WILL BUY IT 💯
Superbrawl 99 is the final GREAT moment in WCW history. I remember the PPV well. Plus, it had Disco's greatest ever match (Booker T vs Disco Inferno)
Im sorry but that ppv was trash. WCW last great ppv was either slamboree or spring stampede.
@@thewhitepanther6052 what are you apologising?
@@thewhitepanther6052 fun PPV. I was there. Weird booking, as every match result was exactly what the crowd wanted. Except for Booker T and Goldberg, we were behind all the heels that night. Poor DDP and Flair had no chance with the fans that night.
Savage was paranoid about Hogan too? No, I don't believe that. LOL. You can see the paranoia in Randy's eyes. Just like you can see the lust in Hogan's eyes for Elizabeth.
"THOSE EYES! Those eyes lust for Elizabeth brother".
Piper vs Austin would have been 🔥
happened at Mania 21
It was a Pipers Pit not a match..
Saw Piper live with 20,000 others when he teamed briefly with Hogan. Crowd popped WAY more for Piper on his entrance and all through the the match. Afterward, he split the ring so Hogan could do his pose schtick and a lot of people actually started leaving. No matter what anyone says, Roddy had the emotions of the crowd in the palm of his hand. Storytelling, folks. Could anyone today come near that?
Disco says "like" multiple times in every sentence. Hes worse on this show than he is in the squared circle brother
Keeping It Real 100 is the best Pro Wrestling podcast on earth. Love hearing you guys...Keep up the good work!!

Scott Hall is always a trip. But I wanna be the fly on the way when rvd n xpac are together man. Not enough green in a field lol. You got the party goods, we got the goods to party. Scott hall
can anyone else here remember there was a Roddy Piper storyline with Raven? i think it was 98 or 99 and it just randomly dropped... can anyone else help me with this?
Was that where Raven said he had a Roddy Piper poster when he was younger?
@@handsolo1209 yeah, it was this weird thing about how they had some type of link

Gee Mr Wilson... I wonder if a professional cocaine consumption would have anything at all to do with a professional case of paranoia? 🤔😏😬😕🤣
Pretty sure biscoff didn't bury piper he said he loved him and how he dealt with his children
I've heard him say Piper could be tough to deal with
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL I'm definitely no expert but have been listening to 83 weeks from the start and don't think biscoff has a problem with rod but I'm sure others May
Bischoff has a soft spot for Hall, Nash, Hogan, Savage, and Piper. You'd have to ask him why.
Only person from the mid 80s who said Piper wasn't trustworthy was Hogan. JR said if Piper gave his word it was binding.
A xmas sweater would be pretty sweet
it's a goldmine waiting to happen
Piper was eccentric but a great talent
Looking forward to the merch 🗝
I like all piper stories the good and the bad
you found the right place
I liked Piper a lot more than Hall both in and out of ring. Hall was good but Piper was great for many years. Nash and Hall seemed to be jealous of him a bit. I don’t blame them they had to work a lot more than he did and he made more im sure.
Piper probably had CTE I seen a video of him busting a beer bottle over his own forehead
Funny hearing Disco say Hall thought Piper was acting strange while he was high.....
83 weeks is a good podcast. Eric Bischoff has a great perspective on things and the business end talk is amazing. Love keeping it 100 too :)
the guy writing the email was speaking for himself, not us
Did Disco have merch back in the day day?
Somebody now should make 90s looking merch of WCW Disco.
he has a Pro Wrestling Tees store but he rarely plugs it
You got those shirts yet?
I’d like to see and buy a Konan kazoo shirt haha whoo! 🥳
Roddy Piper never wanted to lose, never wanted to do the job under any circumstances, he was selfish, even more-so than Hogan, at least Hogan did jobs every now and then
They were paranoid cause everbody was on that 80s un-cut. ❄ ❄
im a graphic designer and i specialize in logo as well as brand identity
83 Weeks is basically 2 hours an episode of Eric giving non-answers to questions, and downright refusing to talk about what we want to hear about.
i remember reading that Vince made Piper sign a contract that specifically stated that Piper would drop the title at Mania 8, that's how awkward he could be to deal with. I've never understand that at all.
He never held the world title though, did he?
I have to think what I've heard of him is true, bc this isn't the first I've heard of it. He supposedly liked to hide in a bottle. RIP Rowdy.
Piper basically got paid to get stomped and spray painted by the NWO in the late 90s 😂
please. piper went over more often than not and was protected way too much, like usual.
Disco Inferno is hands down, the single most interesting guy in all of wrestling podcasting. He keeps dropping these stories that I've never heard before.
yeah, hes very smart, still looks good for his age.

piper was so strange. He acted like wrestling was real in some sense, like it meant he was a tough guy, up until the end.
I can’t even follow what they are saying. They stomp all over each other’s lines every ten seconds. The one guy is almost slurring his words and speaking so softly is too feint to follow
Love hearing Piper stories. Definitely a strange guy, always talking like wrestling’s real combat, talking about darkness and tough times even though he’d has his life sorted since his early 20’s.
Sure he liked to party but there are no stories, nothing in Bret’s book, or Dynamite, nothing from Sheiky. It’s like the partyings a work as well. Like virtually everything in his life was.
This is the first story I’ve ever heard of Piper being actually messed up.
I can only think of 2 stories. In Bret's book Piper welcomed him into the heels' hotel room by handing him a straw to use for the big pile of coke on the table. In Flair's book Piper wins a drinking/drug competition vs either Sullivan or Purple Haze. Apparently Piper had a ridiculous tolerance for both booze and drugs.
Hogan screwed him several times, bit when they got older they bonded
hogan put both piper and savage over on wcw a lot. I think the 80s guys were paranoid with everyone above or near their spot. They were the product of vince mcmahon creating that paranoid work environment
such as when?
@@KeepinIt100OFFICIAL he lost 2 times clean to piper in wcw. The first was by a sleeper at starrcade after a 4 month feud to see who was "the biggest icon of all time". As for savage he didnt put him over but he did work with him a lot to draw money together
Only one buying a disco shirt is disco....
you'd be surprised
Wrong. Disco is great. I have several Disco shirts. Been a fan since I was 13.
Piper wouldn’t put over Hogan where they could have flipped the belt back and forth but he put over Brett for the IC title. Dumb business
Check out Pro Wrestling Tees out of Chicago for making more merch. They work with a ton of wrestlers and podcasts.
can anyone remember the WCW PPV, i think it was maybe Great American Bash 97, there was a tag match of Flair & Piper vs Nash & Hall and it's truly one of the worst matches that you will ever see.
Apparently Piper went completely against the booking plans so they had to call it in the ring, i have no idea what he would do that at all.
I know what you are talking about. But that was not at the Bash. The match took place at the Nitro in Boston before the Bash. I heard Nash got physical with Piper backstage. Ironically it was the same night Shawn and Bret had a fight backstage as well.
@@norbertschnurrbart936 same night?! holy crap do i love wrestling
I'd pay to watch 99' Nash versus 99' Piper in a boxing match. Sounds entertaining

Don't be a twat. Disco was awesome. He could have been way bigger of a star than he was.
