As a pilot and employee of any airline he would be flying as a non-revenue passenger and as a courtesy a non-revenue pilot checks in with the pilots flying as they board. The flight attendants would know this also based on his ticket indicating a non-revenue passenger.
Or perhaps racism is good for clicks. The story is pure B.S. The author of this fiction knows nothing about airline operations. Or perhaps he wrote this 60 years ago.
@@BlackwaterBud The point is not if the story is true or not, nor is it about the writer's knowledge about the airline industry. This is about the discrimination in our every day life and the importance of acknowledging it and doing something about it.

i have listened to many stories, and it always amazes me how well the people handle the situation. im not sure that i would have been so graceful. my hat off to captain marcus johnson
That airliner lady should’ve been fired. She had no right to decide who sits in first class and who don’t the money is not coming out of her pocket if we can afford to have it we are entitled to get it.
For the person that said this is BS, they are missing the point sure it was fiction but people are that way today if you just open your heart instead of your eyes 👀
I wonder what would have happened if Marcus had been a normal passenger, not a captain. It seems that Sarah was soon put in her place, having a low status job. Class is always a factor. Marcus always knew that people's attitude would change when he put on his uniform.
and if it is not true, i am sure that there are situations like this, that do actually happen, and it is a real shame, in my opinion and with out prejudice
Anyone familiar with airline procedures would know a pilot flying non-rev isn’t just another passenger! This situation just shows the assumptions people make. Respect to him for staying composed.
This story is truly impactful and makes us reflect on the prejudices that still exist in society. A pilot being asked to sit in economy class just because of his skin color is a clear example of the unfair treatment many people still face. What happened next surely left a memorable lesson for everyone present and for those watching this story. Hopefully, this video will inspire us all to judge people based on their abilities and character, not their appearance.
It is really touching but a valuable lesson to all of us. What I learnt is that all involved were ready to reconcile, and mediate. We learn through our mistakes if we are ready to accept our mistakes and overcome them.

This story is a good start for all Americans to understand the challenge some of us still experience to this day. The color of your skin still matters, your race still matters, your birth place still matters. Working for the airlines for over twenty five years, you can find a very challenging situation almost daily. It creates a very unsafe work place. Standard company policies and procedures , federal laws and guide lines, and even union membership laws do not even address the problem at hand. To foster and apply all the necessary measures to protect all of us in time of injustice that any member experience is just to follow the law and implement a true concept of valuing each individual as an asset in our pursue of the ever challenging American Dream. That is my opinion as a brown skin man of fifty five years of being a proud American naturalized citizen.

Wow, what a story. The lady who created this fictitious story to humiliate Capitain Mark Johnson, is knocked down herself; unforgettable self-inflicted infront of the staff members and passengers. I have heard stories similar to this. But the way how she started the whole thing is so moronic and the way how Capitain M. Johnson and others dealt was superb. The Capitain is genuinely a noble man with character. The lady is a disgraceful may be she got fired. The act of the passengers and what they did is truly an act of dignity with respect give them credit.
Complete BS story. None of it is how seat assignments work and flight attendants don’t move passengers around. A flight attendant would also not ask to see a first class passengers boarding pass as she would have a boarding report with each passengers name, seat assignment and travel priority. The FA would have instantly known he was deadheading crew member. If there was in fact an overbooking which is not done in first class deadheading crew members are the first to be moved. The entire story is so fictitious as to be laughable.
I agree. Story is moving, but too "perfect". The first thing that made me doubt the story was that "Captain Marcus" had not been a part of the preflight briefing and secondly, I'm pretty sure that "Captain Chen" did not have the authority to reassign himself in this situation. He was the assigned Captain and that could not be changed on a whim. Further, (I don't remember the departure point, but) a simple cross country flight to Los Angeles does not require a relief pilot. This story is BS. Not even a nice try. I agree with the sentiments but the story doesn't ring true. I'm calling bull shit and I'm giving the video a thumbs down. Patrick Cowdrey, Central Point, Oregon.
More BS emerged as the video continued. The narrator says that "some students in the back of the plane heard the initial conversation". That's absolute BS. You could never hear a conversation that far away in that acoustic environment even without the ambient sounds of other people's conversations. From first class, all the way to the back of the cabin? More bull. I agree- the kind of discrimination spoken of here should never take place. Neither should bullshit stories. Like this. This is a political video. Patrick Cowdrey, Central Point, Oregon
