Dear Dr London, thank you so much for all of your videos. So enjoyable and informative. I look forward to them now each day. I’ve been retired for almost ten years and cook whole foods from breakfast to dinner. Neither my husband nor I have high blood pressure or other cardiovascular issues, though everyone in both of our families are on medications. Of course we exercise too which is probably a big factor. After watching my father have bypass surgery and strokes, I’m too scared not to at least make an effort. Keep doing your wonderful videos and perhaps you will change life styles and, consequently, quality of life for many in addition to your incredible skills as a cardiac surgeon. Best to you and your family and the cutie dog!

What is often described as "the Mediterranean diet" is kind of deceptive. Firstly, depends which part of the Mediterranean. Starting at Greece and heading east and south across north Africa to Morocco, you do not have "lean meats". You have lamb. High in fat. This is not common, of course, in Italy, France, Spain, which is probably what is REALLY meant by Mediterranean diet. However, in both parts of the Mediterranean, north and south, you have huge amounts of refined flour ---- bread, pasta, pizza, couscous --- which is usually not endorsed by the gurus of the "Mediterranean diet." So they really just need to specify --- lean meats, fish, veg, fruits and olive oil.
Dr. London, do you have any videos that discuss how CV19 (and mutations of it) affects our hearts? Appreciate your content!! im really happy I found you.
We don’t eat as much avocado oil here in Greece. I personally use olive pit oil for sautéing and for all the rest like salads and such I use extra virgin olive oil. For bread we mostly eat sourdough bread as well as other fermented products. We are blessed with a volcanic soil high in nutrients so yeah our produce is top of of the line especially tomatoes and local greens. We also eat plenty of Greek strained yogurt with Greek honey which is our dessert of choice . Last but not least at gatherings and BBQs we eat lamb and goat as for us this is the leanest meat we have and because it’s out in the wild it eats better than a chicken would. For omegas we have plenty of sardines and other local small fish. We also eat avocados. Not forgetting the local legumes that we have at least once a week. I guess the basis for most people buying produce here is to buy what’s in season. Oh and we don’t eat as much processed food as we tend to cook at home more.

I'm a 60 year old female diagnosed with 49% blockage in only my left anterior descending artery. I'm struggling to keep weight on due to excluding many items in my diet since diagnosis this year. I've never been overweight, don't have diabetes or high blood pressure just a family history of heart disease and a high stress job. On a 40 mg statin and my LDL has dropped to 79, along with drops in TG levels and cholesterol. I've dropped from 130 to 106 in weight. We have been told the Med Diet is best for decades now. It is a diet that kept my Italian grandparents healthy well into their 80's and 90's. The problem is people want fast pre-packaged foods and don't want to take the time to cook anymore.
My home diet is very similar except I LOVE rice. I try to make it brown rice , wild rice and forbidden rice and limit the days per week but I have to have some rice!
I’m having a serious problem, I was hospitalized a couple months ago, for chest pains, at the time my troponin level was 600’s obviously they admitted me. They ran a CT Angio, nuclear stress test, ekg, blood work, etc… the cardiologist said he was confident there was no serious blockage, yet I am still having chest pains after sex or when I exert myself. The cardiologist said my symptoms are atypical, most of the chest pain is top of the chest radiated to right arm and back. Currently I am taking losarten in the morning carvedilol twice a day and isosorbide once. I put myself on some supplements as well (k2,coq10, krill oil) my blood pressure is normal sometimes runs low 110/60 still having the issues though. I am still smoking and I am struggling to quit I’m so much medication I don’t think I can stand taking Chantix. I know I need to eat healthier don’t know what to do in my situation
Good morning Doctor My MD doctor says that on my x-rays he saw something cloudy that could have a clogged artery.. after this I saw the cardiologist my Echocardiogram and EKG come out good. Now, I’m waiting for calcium score results. My colesterol is high All my vitals are good. I eat healthy I run and work out. Doctor please could you see on Xray clogged arteries??? I appreciate your answer
Wow, if I ate what you had bought from Whole Foods, I would have ended up in the bathroom for two days. Leafy green vegetables and fruit causes so much inflammation in my gut (ulcerative colitis). Everything you said Dr. London goes against everything my heart doctor is telling me to eat. Especially seed oils. Best of luck to you.
Great haul . Pay now or pay later . Expensive to eat from whole pay check . The veggies aren’t always the freshest so maybe not very nutrient dense…. Grow your own if you can .
I love following your journey. I hate to say this, but I think you are eating way too many carbs for your situation. You might want to monitor your blood glucose to ensure you're not having blood sugar spikes throughout the day. You may also want to consider a whole food keto diet or a low carb, higher healthy fats way of eating. You may have to give up the starchy carbs and tropical fruits. And I'd suggest having your A1C checked--if it's in the very low 5's, then maybe you are doing ok!
I really need the recipe for you dressing for your salad please also give me your recipes you are preparing do you have a cook book thank you for your work
Dr London: the greatest seafood restaurant (ever/imo) is in Savanah. The Shell House!!. Thoughts??? (Discovered your channel. Appreciate you. Thank you!)
Love fresh veggies, fruit, etc but I have a hard time digesting them. I love cauliflower and broccoli, mango and grapefruit but they destroy my gut. I still eat it all but in very small quantities. Would love to know how to counteract the reaction so I can eat more of the healthy stuff.
What about Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn and Dr. Dean Ornish the first drs who showed you can reverse or halt heart disease with a plant based diet very low fat.
Thank you Doctor. 35M, 260lbs, 6'4" with AFIB and family history of heart disease. What were you eating prior to your cardiac event? Do you believe your diet contributed to the blockage? Do you believe in a genetic component that diet cannot circumvent? Appreciate the channel
I’d love a video tackling the subject of eating foods (primarily thinking about red meat) that have higher saturated fat and cholesterol, and the impact on heart health. Plenty of reputable sources say this “war on saturated fat” theory starting from the 50’s and 60’s is highly flawed/misunderstood and has been harmful in pushing people away from whole foods towards processed carbohydrates
Yep. All the items on the doctor’s kitchen counter come from a small portion of any grocery store. The rest of the isles, except for the frozen vegetables, are all highly processed, or contain high fructose corn syrup (it was cane sugar when I was growing up), with some of the food actually engineered to be addictive. Even the dairy isle has creamers they sell for coffee which all look pretty scary to me in terms of their ingredients. Want to see why our country has a diabetes and an obesity problem? Go to a dollar store or 5 Below and walk the isles to see what is sold there. That would give any cardiologist a heart attack. But that’s where the teens go; you don’t see them in the produce isle at the grocery store. And the stuff sold in those stores is in snack form, so the teens end up hitting it all day. The food industry has really become profit driven and messed up over my lifetime. The decay started slowly in the 70’s and has continued to rapidly deteriorate. We have also trained most age groups, with our busy lifestyles, that all food be available fast, hence the explosion in drive thrus. Even the busy professional making a good salary will hit the drive thru for breakfast on the way to work. Making a healthy meal really does take some time.
Had a heart attack June 2023….3 stents in 1 artery…male 72..6ft 2, 163 lbs…cholesterol 140, ldl 90, hdl 40, triglycerides 300…. I’m now on a carnivore diet
@@drjeremylondon It is probably because of the A1 protein, which can lead to lactose intolerance for a large amount of people. As an alternative milk with the A2 protein is said to be much more tolerable to such people.

well into their 80's and 90's. The problem is people want fast pre-packaged foods and don't want to take the
time to cook anymore.
Agreed
My home diet is very similar except I LOVE rice. I try to make it brown rice , wild rice and forbidden rice and limit the days per week but I have to have some rice!
in asia, pets ( other than gold fush ) eat what the family eat !! they live forever.
What does a cardiologist eat when he travels such as travel snacks?
Nuts and fruit
Live ur dig..I think he's into you doc.
Good morning Doctor
My MD doctor says that on my x-rays he saw something cloudy that could have a clogged artery.. after this I saw the cardiologist my Echocardiogram and EKG come out good. Now, I’m waiting for calcium score results. My colesterol is high
All my vitals are good.
Listen to your qualified healthcare professional and your body. Everyone has their own instruction manual
Great haul . Pay now or pay later . Expensive to eat from whole pay check . The veggies aren’t always the freshest so maybe not very nutrient dense…. Grow your own if you can .
I agree!
I bought your electrolyte packets. They were so salty I couldn't drink them. My cardiologist told me to stay away from salt.
Great video! Just curious, what brand of scrubs are you wearing?
These are Figs. Love Figs
This looks so good. Is there an actual recipe on here? I can’t find it.
You have an Aussie!
Sure do. Ollie is the best
Cute dog!
Thank you!
I really need the recipe for you dressing for your salad please also give me your recipes you are preparing do you have a cook book thank you for your work
If I eat over 10 carbs a day my blood sugar goes crazy and they say I’m not diabetic. What do you do with all those vegetables?
Dr London: the greatest seafood restaurant (ever/imo) is in Savanah. The Shell House!!. Thoughts??? (Discovered your channel. Appreciate you. Thank you!)
Nice kitchen !
Thank you! We spend most of our time there
@@drjeremylondon awesome. Families that eat together, stay together.
Dr is talking but I’m watching his adorable dogs
Understandable
Does the counter over-head light tilt like in an operating room?
They may we’ve never tried it
Love fresh veggies, fruit, etc but I have a hard time digesting them. I love cauliflower and broccoli, mango and grapefruit but they destroy my gut. I still eat it all but in very small quantities. Would love to know how to counteract the reaction so I can eat more of the healthy stuff.
Experiment and find what foods work for you
What about Dr.
Do you think that vegan protein is go to source of protein? Why is better than whey?
I like the dogs
My brother… that’s the exact opposite of what you should be eating lol
@ I was vegan… if you noticed the triglycerides were 300…since going carnivore they are 40…you dear fellow are behind the 8 ball.
Sunday and you wearing workingclothes😉
Sickness and emergency operation don't wait for Monday
@@drjeremylondon always on call👍🏻
Is there a reason you choose the non-dairy yogurt?
Maybe he is lactose intolerant because of the A1 protein.
My stomach can handle kefir and raw milk cheese but processed milk tends to give me problems
@@drjeremylondon It is probably because of the A1 protein, which can lead to lactose intolerance for a large amount of people. As an alternative milk with the A2 protein is said to be much more tolerable to such people.
@@louisd95714 And pasturization destroys the important enzymes and denatures proteins that may allow many to digest milk after all. That could be why raw cheese doesn't bother him.
Thank you for letting me know about healthy food I love healthy food and healthy ahealthy drink 🍷🍷🍻 with meals 🍷🌺💛🌹❣️🍰💜🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻
Doc what about smoking weed we need that to deal with stress is that smoking bad also
I love you 💕
Dr Essylstyn would not like all that animal protein and the oil .But generally good advice video.
Do what works best for you!
