I find that 99% alcohol works really good with cleaning gel. 70% alcohol still makes things sticky and i try to avoid cleaning with acetone since it might ruin what im cleaning.
@@hayleyz1703 Denatured alcohol from the cleaning aisle is 96%, I think. It just has an unpleasant smell, to prevent people from drinking it (because it's taxed differently than alcohol meant for consumption). I use that to clean off my gel nailpolish bottles, as it's cheap and widely available. You can order isopropanol (99,9% alcohol) online, though. It's not restricted or anything. Just not something people need a lot, so it's not sold in shops.
I experimented with a home gel manicure a few months ago, and I never knew how to clean up the brush (I got frustrated with a bad lamp and had to walk away for a while). Thank you so much for sharing this information ❤ Now I can try again (with a different lamp) knowing that I won’t have to worry about messing up any other brushes!

@yanautau5041 but many polish removers have acetone too, just not as much. But 100% acetone will eat through many plastics and metal finishes think those sink drain thingies. I ruined my black matte one...been a rusty color since. It was brand new. I accidentally spilled. 😮luckily it was only a sink part. Could have been worse! I still prefer 100% acetone though. I just can't be clumsy.

When I run out of nail police remover, I’ve used body spray (has alcohol in it) or lemon juice when I don’t have rubbing alcohol on hand. It’s perfect for removing the sticky layer on gel polish when you do your nails.
The CVS brand alcohol pads are thick felt and great for cleaning up gel polish. I tear the top off of the packet and put the pad back in between coats and because of the thick felt it doesn’t dry out so I use less.
I don't have many pet peeves but my biggest one is dirty lids/covers/caps drives me nuts! I work in a grooming salon and am always cleaning the tops of the spray bottles, shampoos, tooth paste and ear cleaner

Alcohol isn't very good at cleaning regular nail polish, but it is good at thinning it out, especially if you're running out of a particular color. That's a trick I learned from a manicurist on a recent salon trip 😊😊😊

I cleaned my gel bottle with acetone and it made the paint on the outside of the bottle chip off and it got into the gel so now every time i use that polish i find myself picking out flakes of paint. i use alcohol now.
I watched a video by Shawna Ripari which says it needs to removed with/taken to toxic waste. No idea how to do that yet, maybe pharmacies would take that (in the UK)? Because they take medication to them for safe disposal?

They are all wet, and a wet paper towel would work to clean them. It would be nice if you had shown how to clean it when it was dried already. That way, we can see how easy and quickly you can clean them.

Polish remover is a non abrasive way to remove nail polish, while acetone can litreally melt through plastic

Nail polish removers containing MEK or EtOAc tend to be more effective than acetone and don’t damage nail extensions, btw!

When my nail polish gets clumpy and dry I add nail polish to it and it works.
Don't add acetone or nail polish remover in to your nail polish, though. Both will ruin the polish.
Acetone is awesome if you wanna get the last little bit out- it simply liquifies it/ it’ll make it more dull BUT top coat will fix that up
