Yea same here, classic 2005 nostalgia of him and the cabinet cutting promos every Friday night Smackdown, orlando jordan, basham brothers, jillian hall, man those times were amazing 😎
Apa bradshaw was the best version of him, JBL might be him in real life lol i could be wrong. In the locker room i heard he was kinda a hardass but he looks like "that type" of person to act like that. Apa bradshaw was the coolest i hope one day he comes to that, cause him and farooq just work out great.
Jeez watching taker be a person will never not be weird. This is the same mf who crucified, hung, and buried people yet he's the absolute chillest guy around
Good lord, 30 years later I still love me some Undertaker. He’s living proof that even if you wear all black and play a dark role…there’s heart underneath!!!
JBL and Farooq (or Ron Simmons) had some of the hardest hitting clotheslines I've ever seen! In terms of being underrated wrestlers I would probably say My top 3 right now are #1Sting, #2 Booker T, and #3 Dean Ambrose.💯💯
I couldn't stand JBL. I couldn't believe he had a 9 month WWE title run. But now I realise he really was one of the greatest heels to ever do it. Shame he was mid in the ring because he could've been on a heel Mount Rushmore
With all the controversial things - JBL is a f'n legend. Definitely on of the best heel world champions in this century. And one of the best on SmackDown brand
Hate they didn’t get the push they deserved , if they had still had a working relationship with Japan around that time , The Acolytes in AJPW/NJPW as tag champs would’ve went dumb crazy
I completely agree with Undertaker here, especially with his regards to JBL’s promos, JBL was fucking awesome when he was cutting an In-Ring Promo and on Commentary. He’s gifted in all arts.
John looked formidable in Blackjacks tag team. Back then I used to think that they were very underrated. Still remember his clean win over Vader, which was probably his biggest win before he became JBL.
Freakin LOVED the APA!! After team 3D and of coarse behind Brothers of Destruction, easily a top 5 Tag team. They didn't make it big, but they made WWF BIG!! DAYUM!!
Not the most underrated though. Most underrated was definitely Lord Steven/William Regal. The mat technician, catch and chain wrestling skills were monumental. Regal is not only the most underrated in Takers time, but throughout all time.
@DukeRhodes regal was everything but a physical force. He was great for mid guys for him to dominate and peak into the main eventers quarrels from time to time. No one denied his skill but he wasn't the full package
JBL was the catalyst to the modern era. Taker feud - Taker went from being not just the face of the company but to having his own tier, he was in his prime yet he was already treated as a HOF. Backstage it was already like that but it trickled over to the wrestling fans. Eddie feud - like it or not, the JBL character was the PERFECT heel for Eddie's Latino Heat. Not only that but him being a relatively big guy and putting Eddie over after Eddie had just beaten Brock really boosted Eddie's booking. He wasn't your traditional underdog luchador, he was given the "Vince" stamp of approval. Cena feud - to me, this is where Cena's run climaxed. He became THE GUY. He became so hot that IMO, had Cena stayed in SmackDown, things could have turned out even better for him. Bonus: HBK feud - both were clearly past their prime but the promo work really helped them elevate the feud.
I was a fan of JBL since his Bradshaw days. He was tall, brooding, and that lariat was nasty AF. Him teaming up with my other fave Farooq really cemented him as one of my top five faves. I actually felt sad when they broke them up and he went on to become JBL. I get people love his heel persona then, but I missed the ol' APA backstage clips.
JBL's championship run on Smackdown was legendary. Everyone talks about the stranglehold that Triple H had over Raw back then. But man, those ten months that JBL had the title were something else.
I had no idea Bradshaw went on to be this guy cos I stopped following WWE/f just after the raw era.. that is genuinely amazing character acting and dedication to the sport and his workmanship
JBL had 1 of the best "Lariats" or clotheslines in wrestling history. He dug deep for the power for tht clothesline, real deep, like he dug all the way down to Hell
I actually really agree. Jbl was poppin when i was a kid and boy, you loved to hate him. He won when you thought he was gonna loose. They really pushed the length of his title run. Some crazy matches with eddie too
many of these guys like JBL, Mick Foley, Mable/Viscera/Big Daddy V, John Cena get their push or elevated push from a rub of Undertaker . . . being in a match or championship match/WrestleMania match with The Undertaker has time and time again gave the much needed push many needed
I’ve never seen a switch flip from low/mid card to top guy quicker than JBL did in the spring of 2004. At Wrestlemania 20 the guy was lost in the shuffle in a bad tag team turmoil match, two months later he’s got mega heat and main eventing in a bloodbath against Eddie Guerrero at a sold out Cow Palace for the WWE Title, filled with Latinos who wanted to see him get killed. He was the best character of that era and was perfect for the heel during the era of the Bush Administration.
I think he did some decent work as a commentator too, he was the guy that most people don’t agree with because he wasn’t always cheering for the baby face
JBL was amazing at playing a big dude that was a believable coward. Most dudes his size won’t even try and when they do try, can’t pull it off. He’s an actual good worker.
JBL was a great modern-day version of Ted DiBase. Smug, arrogant, with that smile that you wanted to smack. Just made it that much sweeter when he lost. Still remember he "I Quit" match with Eddie where he just went "Ok son, I quit!"
I remember when I first realized JBL was Bradshaw from the APA... I was embarrassed of myself knowing the name was right there, but he didn't look the same to me. The APA were one of the best parts of Attitude Era to me.
The very 1st time John Bradshaw Layfield came out, he immediately over. He cut the perfect promo and made it feel like he was dropping his gimmick and being his true self. Very very good role
Mankind is forever underrated even as big as he was. He doesn't get enough flowers. It's always Undertaker, Rock, Stone Cold, And Triple H. But he was right there with all of them! Aka Cactus Jack... bang! bang!!
I can’t remember the game from back in the day. But Bradshaw had the clothesline from hell finishing move. I would do it until my opponent couldn’t get up anymore. Good times.
JBL was such a good heel. I personally couldn’t stand him at the time but now looking back you can see just how great he really was at it. Respect to JBL!
I didn’t see JBL when he was in the APA but I watched him when he was the “rich cowboy” JBL and loved his feud with John Cena and Edge for the WWE championship
I will never forgot his run it was like 2 years I hated him so much he kept best all my favorite champions and got a way with it but I remember all his promos and now that I’m older I’m like he was damn good
JBL is a better promo than anyone in the business today. That short run he did with Corbin was amazing just because it gave him an excuse to cut a promise each week. His constant bullying of Kevin Patrick on commentary was also great. Lol
Jbl & John cena gave me one of the most memorable matches ever with their ‘I Quit match’ I stopped watching WWE/WWF years ago but correct me if I’m wrong but that was apparently the most violent & bloody match in WWE history & was super controversial for how gorey & violent it was, so much blood & stuff, didn’t it get WWE banned in some places too? Crazy
JBL and Undertaker Feud was my first exposure to WWE in 2004 on TV. one match where Undertaker chokeslamed him into the car through the roof was scary. i thought he was drad for real
I remember when Bradshaw won the title and his entrance on Raw was like 20 minutes long with fireworks, he kept throwing his arms up and even more fireworks would shoot out! It was ridiculously hilarious 😅
JBL was amazing, and it took until i was fully grown to realize it. As a kid, I hated him just because of how good of a heel he was. Amazing on the mic and a decent in ring wrestler. And his Clothesline just looked brutal, definitely one of my favorite wrestlers.
JBL made us forget how ridiculous it was that a random, very successful business owner just kind of wrestled in his free time… every week…
If Ted DiBiase can do it, so can he.
Speak for yourself
They really should have gone full Commodus on that one, you know?
Undertaker and Kane are two of the dumbest gimmicks in wrestling. They're right up there with Abadon!🤣
@@maskedninja876 I know right. The best gimmick was "The Shockmaster" by far....
That’s a good one. JBL’s heel title run was so good. Brought back old school vibes in a good way.

And very well respected and loved backstage lol
Think like this him ( and his brother Kane ) as a father in law how F... ar you if y messed up from 1 to 10
@Staicu96 ......20......10 a piece
He kilt that bad guy role. He made people so P.Od they damn near ran him outta town once. He's a true legend 👏
JBL at the US/Mexico border is still ingrained in my head.what an absolute bastard....brilliant!
Good lord, 30 years later I still love me some Undertaker. He’s living proof that even if you wear all black and play a dark role…there’s heart underneath!!!

Joey Styles: My boy Taker 😂😂😂😂

i@eLite-Tiss91 it's easy when the big guy's drunk as a skunk which all rlaccounts say he was.

As a kid i hated JBLs guts, but as an adult he's definitely the most underrated heel in Smackdown history imho.

His championship run was better than people give him credit for. He was a true old school heel

The JBL gimmick was so good, he knew how to get heat with that character, him and Eddie's fued he did his best heel work

I remember when Shawn Michaels had to become JBL's assistant in exchange for a bailout. The guy was part of some crazy storylines.
Bradshaw and JBL are like completely different persons it is amazing
