  • Winsor McCay, The Famous Cartoonist of the N.Y. Herald and His Moving Comics aka Little Nemo is the first film realized by • Winsor McCay
    It was released in 1911. The film features characters from McCay's newspaper strips: Little Nemo in Slumberland . It contains a live-action prologue which shows how the enormous number of drawings (4000!) necessary for the animation were made. It is one of the earliest animation movies ever realized.

    Call Continuity: he was wearing a hat while drawing on the board.But this is great! I worked for 17 years at the company who produced gels for Disney and other "cartoon" producers. Killed by digital.

    That's John Bunny! One of the first comedians to become recognized in early cinema. He was very popular, being the rather larger man in the first shots of the artists laughing about making a moving film!
