Can I make Premiere Elements to create automatically an slide show from a videoclip selected by me ? (instead of the more usual method of providing still images as input)

In Premiere Elements 2024 Adobe introduced Highlight Reel which will effectively let you select clips or a mix of videos and stills. It uses A.I. to analyse the footage and produces a “reel” which is effectively a slideshow which can be saved using a range of social media presets. There is a similar feature in Photoshop Elements 2024. Check out my videos:

Great video, do you know what the difference is between film dissolve and cross dissolve?

Hi James, I always use cross dissolve with a slideshow. I would say film dissolve is probably more useful for moving images (video clips) where you want to make it an obvious part of the story and make the transition deliberately longer so that you can see one clip blending into the next. It could be used to blend a title into the unfolding story.

I have the audiofile from a VHS tape. I have to lengthen each frame to match the audio. How do I do that?

Normally you can select (highlight) the video track and drag to the right to extend it; so it matches the length of the audio track.

Thanks for this “Slide shoe” video using PE Can you do more?
I’d like access to creative ideas For instance, can I make a template like they have in PSE. Are there other aps that focus on creating slide shows that I can then import their video output into PE (other than the lame PSE templates.

I think most templates are created in AE and will usually be compatible with Adobe After Effects or Adobe Premiere Pro. I did use Pro Show Gold & Director in the past but Photodex has discontinued those products. It was standalone slideshow software although it could be output as a clip for further editing in Premiere Elements. The replacement is called Photopia - see link - but it requires a subscription. If you only make the occasional slideshow it’s possible to buy a monthly subscription rather than annual.

Very useful but...is there a way to automatically adapt the picture duration to the music (for example a mp3)? Unluckily I don't have the bundle with Photoshop...

If the mp3 track on Audio 1 is longer than the photos on video 1 you can drag to fit. Or make the music slightly longer and add two key frames near the end. You can then drag the yellow band down at the end to fade the music out. See this link:
