Im a guy who dresses in black and has inch long chrome acrylic nails. Ive had my claws for about 6years and i love the hell out of them. :) And they get me exactly the kind of attention i crave :D
Fantastic. Love that. I love when ppl have their thing like that bc you just know they’ve figured out what makes them happy and they’re absolutely living it.
I recently became part of the insane long press on nails gang because my whole life I’ve had an insane OCD disorder that makes me pick my scalp, TMI but, holy shit did press ons save my sanity by maiming me. I can’t do anything but I also can’t harm myself. 10/10
A friend has 45 year old breast implants in because she can't afford to replace them every 10 years like you're supposed to. 😳😬🤷♀️ they have turned to stone and are probably the culprit behind her 🤒 illness. Make sure you've got money put away for the re-up before you commit to fake body parts that WILL degrade.
Yes! It isn’t well studied bc boobs are a “womens issue” but breast implant illness is a thing that lots of plastic surgeons have observed. Dr Youn on UA-cam has a video abt it
Tbh I’m thinking about getting acrylics again. I’ve been venturing back towards femininity on my own terms. I’ve always bitten my nails so the acrylics drive me nuts bc my brain still tells me to bite them when they’re acrylic, but I love the clickety clack too
I started switching genders at four years old, but I was born with ADHD and associated clumsiness (dyspraxia / developmental coordination disorder). I could get long acrylic nails when I'm in a feminine mood, but within five minutes I might be in a masculine mood. Or in a mood to go hiking off trail through the woods and fields. And acrylics are not the look for Bear Grylls realness.
I’ve been getting acrylics consistently for the past 2 years and it’s definitely helped me to not bite my nails. downside though is that the minute I don’t have acrylics I go ham on my nails and the skin around it 🥲
This makes me think of the episode of Bob’s Burgers where they get kidnapped on a low budget cruise ship- the family thinks it’s a vacation but Bob is enslaved in the kitchen… Louise gets the nail tech to put on 8” acrylic finger AND toes.
The horror of 17 year olds getting veneers - I hope you’re going to college and getting an MBA so you can still have useable teeth at 30, save up that birthday money 😬
My sister used to do the same thing, and then she would just get a few layers of, IDK, acrylic I assume, put on top of them to give them some heft and durability.
Same. I have naturally strong nails (and hair, but that comes at the cost of being greasy), and I use them literally as tools every single day in every single situation. I cannot function without them.
Acrylic nails get to a point where they HURT. I had 1 inch monsters & when they would crack & break (I’m rough on them), 2x my actual nails broke down to the quick & below. It was SO painful
I stopped chewing my nails a few months ago by wearing kiss glue on nails constantly until they grew to a better length - then I ripped that shit off and now I wear gel to give them strength while the brittle nail-glue-destroyed-nail grows out and hopefully soon I’ll have actually nice nails :))
My mum used to surround herself with people that have been doing Botox and facelifts ever since they didn’t need it. Now they do need it to have a “normal” face, because as soon as it wears off, they look 20 years older than they are. I asked mum how she never once was peer pressured into it, and she said “because I know, that when I age gracefully, I’m going to be laughing at the shear amount of money I’ve saved to look better than they do. Sure, I’m not perfect, but plastic has a quicker degradation than skin, and I may not be perfect now, but at least I’ll look human later.” As a result I’m never gonna do anything like that. I don’t judge people who want to, or think they need to, as long as they’re doing it for themselves and not anyone else. I also understand that some plastic surgery is for reconstruction, not just for looks (eg breast reconstruction after cancer). Recreationally however, I would never. Expensive and hard to maintain. Also I find it funny that most of that group my mum was in were Anti Vax, only getting the ones that are mandatory for school attendance in the UK. They’re not willing to jab their children with immunising vaccines, but they’re willing to inject random amounts of plastic in their face, by someone who doesn’t even have to be qualified in the medical field. It’s weird to me.
botox only needs to be done like 3 times a year. that's not that much considering how often you get haircuts. it's easily something you can do for the rest of your life.
Serious question, how would you look 20 years older when Botox wears off? Doesn't it just paralyse your muscles to stop you from developing wrinkles, so when it wears off, all that happens is that your face can move normally again?
3:15 I'm one of these people lol I work with my hands a lot (and end up doing more manual labor than what my job actually requires lmao) but I don't want crusty ass nails when i go to shows. i'll usually put them on a day or two before the show and then take them off a day or two after. my nails recover in about a day, and after I have them off I'll trim them and then put on a clear top coat to protect them. also, my ADHD would never let me rest if I had long nails all the time lol
"IT'S LIKE HAVING STILETTOS ON FULL TIME!"... WHY are we dragging Dog The Bounty Hunters wife sooo much?! 😂👠💅🔫 👮🤪... But the skill she has chasing bad guys with 👠 on!...I could never!...I tried to get on a tall ass bar stool once with spiked heels and crashed to the floor. 😬🤣😬...sadly, cause I miss those boots! They were fierce! 🔥
long nails (natural or not) are beautiful-looking and gives you an strange power when you add more body language to your daily basis. But they're not practical, and less when you're not delicate with your fingers while doing stuff.
I’ve had nails for years and I don’t really think about it. However, I’m about to start working in health care and I’ve been getting them shorter and shorter so it doesn’t feel super weird when I decide to stop wearing them.
The wonders of a peel off base coat y'all! Someone who knows better than me can reply and rip me to shreds if this isn't 100% accurate BUT I'm under the impression that if you use a peel off base coat under gel nails they can pop off without natural nail damage. Ive been meaning to test it out, but I know Simply naillogical has done it before (yes I'm a Holosexual 😆💿)
Nails like cardi b are a status symbol, aka u never use ur hands bc u have ppl to do everything for u. Like the richer u are the longer nails u can have. When I get my nails long I get them extra thick so they don't break. Also i get biogel extensions, not acrylic. But I'd never get them THAT long, I'm poor.
I've always kept my nails long my whole life just because I'm blessed with naturally strong nails. I recently had health problems and they all broke off, so I just cut them down short. I. Hated. It. Everyone asks me how I do anything with nails, but how the hell do you guys do anything with short nails?? I couldn't open cans, my scalp was eternally itchy, picking up small things was a chore (actually, anything to do with small things was hell not just picking them up), and my hands looked *short and stubby.* It was horrible, I'll take my vitamins and drink my ovaltine from now on, whatever it takes, because it was miserable.
Having nails full time is protective for me as a nail picker/biter.. just did my own XL gel nails for the first time and very excited to be taking them into my own hands 🤭🥳
This totally bamboozled me - don’t do drag but I’ve painted my nails for years, and recently grew and maintained them (naturally) to almost clickety-clack length. Did not expect to be the odd one out, maybe I’m more trans than I thought 😆
Im a cis lady girl person (w a weird relationship w my femininity) and I’ve been a nail biter my whole life. Total adhd thing, and I’ve always been jealous of ppl who can just casually grow their nails to a nice, normal length wo splitting them or biting them off
They mention in a few minutes that maybe it's their own internal hang-ups that makes them not want the nails during the day... idk, society is misogynistic and transphobic in general and we all react and protect ourselves where we can without realizing. And they're talking a little about drag vs their daytime gender identify. I think it's nuanced and personal.
There's a difference between "I feel like like this when I'm doing this" and "Everyone should do this and that is bad". Please stop trying to find things to be offended about
I see this more like a nuanced conversation abt how they feel in and out of their highly feminine drag personas and their regular gay man lives. Some of their fellow drag queens express femininity out of drag w their nails or whatever else, but they’re saying it doesn’t really feel right for them. They’re not saying anything abt trans people, or what anyone should or shouldn’t do. They referenced some ppl they know who do wear them all the time w admiration. Gender roles and toxic masculinity affects everyone, so perhaps a tinge of that but. It really isn’t aimed toward anyone.
trixie’s mic being dented makes me laugh so hard

I'm dying at Katya saying "life finds a way" after Trixie says that Michelle Visage carries tweezers to pull her card out of the gas pump 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"They can open doors now." Adds another layer of comedy. 😂
Katya: “glue-ons are always vulnerable to pop off.”
Me too, Sis.
I'm not weird out when i see Katya in unhhh without a nail or two in drag.
As a nail tech, I appreciate them calling us artists 😊! This stuff is not a easy as you think!

Crazy ornate nails, exposed chin acne, bad bangs. Omg Trixie you did not have to come for these people that hard!
I’ve always grown my natural nails long since I remember, and I cannot function without them. It’s like longer fingers.

I bought $2 stick ons and wore them out an evening and honestly people didn't even know the difference.
I thought there was going to be clickety clacking in this video 😫 I'm so let down
I'm sorry Jeanette
As a lesbian when I see women with long nails like that especially in “lesbian” porn I cringe I’m like keep those wolverine claws away from me
Lol some femmes do well w them but it’s definitely a conversation to have.
