Hey! Do you have some literary sources for this topic by any chance? I’m writing an essay about this and I’m still looking for some material! Loved the video❤
The Blair Witch Project also had excellent marketing. They made many people believe that it wasn’t a movie but real found footage. An enormous hype ensued. Absolutely brilliant.
Filmmakers should be mindful of their own marketing as they're writing and shooting. Don't wait for the end to think about how to get people interested!
This video is literally GODSENT!!! I just had a stressfull talk with my team about marketing and getting the movie to theaters. And StudioBinder delivered. I will definetly mention studiobinder in my oscar speech. Thank you. No seriously with all my heart Thank You.
I used to love trailers that were shown before the main feature. I find that modern trailers often give away the entire plot / the best bits, to the point where you wonder if there's any point in watching the whole thing.
Creating interest with trailers is wonderful but giving it all away is defeating. You already know the end, now why should I go and spend my money since I know the outcome?
@@FoodNerds It's often comedies that have maybe one or two good jokes - and they're BOTH in the trailer! And for stories with a twist, I really don't want to know too much, either, or anything with an unknown aspect. It's rather find out by watching the thing.
THANK YOU GUYS!!! literally just in time as I am preparing myself for my Thesis, this is literally God sent for me, you guys are such a blessing for me!!
I appreciate studio binders efforts put for every video, i am a new film maker and benefited from this video. Thanks and keep making these informative videos.
Godzilla minus-one is an awe-inspiring project in more than one way ,but the cherry on top of it is it’s creative marketing campaign ❤️👌💪, especially if we look at the overall small budget of the movie and how they perfectly harness every penny of it 🙌👌
What is marketing according to Seth Godin? “Marketing is the generous act of helping someone solve a problem. Their problem. Marketing helps others become who they seek to become”.
Thank you so much for such amazing content. Educational, inspirational and entertaining: really love the insights, editing and great industry knowledge you impart to the world! I’m a noob learning video creation and editing hoping to start a UA-cam channel - and I’ve learned sooo much from your videos. From lighting and camera movement to how the film industry works. Thank you so much! 🙏 can’t wait for your next video on distribution.
Very Inspiring to learn from you StudioBinder. This Video is A Complete Audiovisual encyclopedia about Filmmaking Marketing. Film Marketing Strategies is A True Art.🌟💯💯🙏😇
In india things work totally different, if people want to see a movie they gonna see , if they don't wish they simply won't no matter how hard the promotion is. That's how Bollywood works!!!!
This week is my birthday 🎂 and as a long time subscriber since your "Making It" series, this new episode continues to fuel my passion for filmmaking ans my ambitions in my final semester in community college.
15:25 You seem quite vocal about this. It's clear that trailers and other marketing efforts can sometimes be poorly received by the public, as demonstrated by the example you provided
Can you make a video on how to make a scene horror or suspenseful? (Lighting, music, dialogue, angles) and what makes a good horror movie? Can you also make a video on how to make a good cinematic movie trailer? Thank you so much❤
I was making low-budget movies, and I really didn't know how to sell them. I didn't dare to make them because there were no orders, and I was very distressed.
*When an ending (conclusion) is shown in the beginning of a film and then the reason that led to this ending is shown the film - what kinda story structure it is called, I mean is it a literary device story style or what?*
We would love to do a video on Mr. Lanthimos. In the meantime, we have two videos on How to Direct Actors, enjoy! ua-cam.com/video/kDzUx6t09tg/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared ua-cam.com/video/SJyTb90neKs/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
Hi studio Binder I am 22 years old aspiring filmmaker i love movies and one day I wanted to make my own movie but after I saw openAI sora text to video generator AI I am little bit worried about my future. is AI is threat to film industry. Please reply
So what I noticed watching this video.. not a lot marketing seems to reach me. And if it does- I am annoyed with it, so it ends up lessening my interest. I sometimes actively search for trailers- and occasionally movies end up in the news, like the Barbie Oppenheimer situation.. but apart from that I can't even remember the last time I have seen a movie poster in the wild.
I aggressively avoid all advertisements. I’ll go out of my way to ensure that I don’t accidentally see an advertisement for something. Print ads are one thing, but I will literally throw my computer across the room if I can’t exit out of a video ad fast enough.
the Godzilla example is not the best example for the foreign category. if we are talking about marketing here so inherently the market should be foreign. but in case of Godzilla the film already had the market in the US.
In Indonesia, you don't need all those steps, nor out of the box marketing strategies. You just need to make a horror movie, do gimmick of audience or actor got possessed by the evil spirit🤣

Totally agree! We covered that one in another video: ua-cam.com/video/H2N-5ejkk7k/v-deo.html
to all the fairness it was only the beginning of the genre, nobody knew that somebody would make a crappy film just to appear it as a documentary.
Agreed, Marketing should be a concern of the Movie-maker, coz if not more, Marketing is as important as the product itself.
Filmmakers should be mindful of their own marketing as they're writing and shooting. Don't wait for the end to think about how to get people interested!

I used to love trailers that were shown before the main feature. I find that modern trailers often give away the entire plot / the best bits, to the point where you wonder if there's any point in watching the whole thing.
We're with you on that.

I think it’s interesting that the business side of show business can sometimes be just as creative as the art itself.
StudioBinder is the GOAT
Thank you!
This is highly applicable for other things such as game development!
Thank you for making this video!
Ikr?
Game Development, Webcomics, etc.
THANK YOU GUYS!!! literally just in time as I am preparing myself for my Thesis, this is literally God sent for me, you guys are such a blessing for me!!
StudioBinder will always be the best ever

I learnt a lot from this lecture....
Absolutely love this channel! Helpful, useful and with a calm narrator without the frenzied hype or robot voices of so many channels.
Thanks for the feedback and we're glad you're enjoying the content!
Now that was a super interesting topic and one that I think I barely have seen any of it. Thank you!!
We were fascinated making this one!
this is terrifying !! the scariest and most difficult part of the whole process !
That's why you hire guys like David Edwards and Erik Ries! They'll take care of you.
Things like this is why i wish gimmick marketing came back. Sure its cheesy, but at least its memorable and creative !
Are you a fan of William Castle's marketing gimmicks? He was the KING! 👑
What is marketing according to Seth Godin?
“Marketing is the generous act of helping someone solve a problem. Their problem. Marketing helps others become who they seek to become”.
That's a fantastic quote!
The most important: word of mouth
so make a good movie
Absolutely. You can spend millions on marketing but the power of word-of-mouth can really make or break a campaign.
hello, another learning.
Thank you!
Our pleasure!
Another interesting topic! Thank u
Glad you enjoyed it!
Can you do something about horror suspense but really in depth and how I can make a suspense scene with one actor
I want to learn this also ❤
Interesting idea! We covered that a little bit here: ua-cam.com/video/FHXh_uy6gT4/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
I love your UA-cam channel! And I just wanted to call out your editor! He does an amazing job on every video
Thanks, we love our editors!
At the end of the day, movies are products that need to be sold.

Happy Birthday! 🍰
Another helpful topic and video! Thank you so much for this❤
You are so welcome!
9:55 Your inclusion of the LIFE press junket made me laugh, having just read some articles about this Jake Gyllenhaal/Rebecca Ferguson film.
Hey look, it's my job!
How did you get into the industry?
Great video!!
Thanks!
for me the best marketing was Donnie Darko's, with countdown!
We don't remember that one but it sounds cool! Can you share a link?
*Could you make a video on camera lens mounts- and nitty gritty stuff bout lenses like Fraction and Defraction?*
We haven't covered lens mounts specifically but we do have a video on Camera Lenses: ua-cam.com/video/uSsIqR3DuK8/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
What a great resource.
They featured The Bucket
We had to.
For anyone here because of Alicia Vikander, the thumbnail image is from the _Ex Machina_ marketing.
What did you think of that fake Tinder profile? Good marketing?
Awesome content 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks 🔥
GREAT VIDEO
Glad you enjoyed it
15:25 You seem quite vocal about this. It's clear that trailers and other marketing efforts can sometimes be poorly received by the public, as demonstrated by the example you provided
Could these tactics and whatnot be applied to a cinematic TV Series?
Definitely! There have been some great campaigns for TV shows.
*Could ya make a video on 'Feminist Film Theory'?❤*
Can you make a video on how to make a scene horror or suspenseful? (Lighting, music, dialogue, angles) and what makes a good horror movie? Can you also make a video on how to make a good cinematic movie trailer? Thank you so much❤

Great, after this can you make Stages of Storytelling in Movies ?
Do you mean something about story structure? We did a video on Three Act Structure you might be interested in: ua-cam.com/video/tvqjp1CxxD8/v-deo.html
@@StudioBinder Thnx this is what I was looking for !
Just read Philip Kotler for overall marketing principles. Then apply those to your project and budget.
Thanks for the tip!
*When an ending (conclusion) is shown in the beginning of a film and then the reason that led to this ending is shown the film - what kinda story structure it is called, I mean is it a literary device story style or what?*
The simplest explanation would be a "flash forward," obviously the opposite of a flashback.
I love this channel
Is there a channel like this but for music?
Where is the English subtitle?
Please upload English subtitles. Thankful ❤
Can you make a video on working with actors? And also still waiting for that deep dive on Yorgos Lanthimos’ work
We would love to do a video on Mr. Lanthimos.

👌👌👌
Hi studio Binder I am 22 years old aspiring filmmaker i love movies and one day I wanted to make my own movie but after I saw openAI sora text to video generator AI I am little bit worried about my future. is AI is threat to film industry. Please reply
AI is just a tool like cameras, lenses, digital editing, etc. We will always need a human behind the storytelling so don't give up!
Star Wars may be the most prime example of how marketing didn't align with core audience or the purposes behind the storylines.
O arsh nice video ❤️

You have successfully thwarted the marketing algorithm!
damn all them takes a lot of money
Ain't that the truth!

Can a movie be shot on iphone and look good?
"Good" is subjective but filmmakers like Steven Soderbergh have shot iPhone movies so it's more than possible!
Snow steam iron by Zack Snyder looks damn good and it was shot on iPhone.❤

In Indonesia, you don't need all those steps, nor out of the box marketing strategies. You just need to make a horror movie, do gimmick of audience or actor got possessed by the evil spirit🤣
Sounds simple enough!
meme marketing
Powerful stuff!
Obviously with as much repesentation as possible.
With today's outlets and digital marketing, anything is possible!
Personally I did not like Get Out.
How come?
10:44 THUG LIE.
