I'm totally with you on the "every skater is doing his best and needs to be appreciated" part and she's undoubtedly good, but i don't think doing 3A - or at least taking the risk - is the ultimate expression of this sport; it's interpretation, beauty and elegance. And that, not cowardice, is what the others are doing. Figure skating is NOT only about technical elements and I fear too many people are forgetting that :(
Hey the girlofdarkness- don´t mind she will come back to her old performance she is so very good and strong so that she can take the bullshit comments from people who cannot really see what she is able to do! Even Alissa had a dark bad day and also she will come back and not give up;-) The sport is so very difficult no one can always do it right at any time...;-) Take care;-)
Everyone's saying she should just forget the triple axel and doing it here was stupid. But she knows she'd never be able to live with herself if she didn't do it, she wouldn't be able to stand the wondering what would have happened if she did do it.
What an unlucky skate for her: there is still something to set, something to change. She doesn't need that triple axel, forget it and go for a clean performance! I hope she recovers and comes back better than this...
it´s so amazing of a skater to do the 3 A so it´s not nice to turn that down here! Others only do the program without any risk that I think is not sportive at all!! But only shows cowardliness -my opinion-every skater is doing his best and needs to be appreciated of the audience and the judges --and the pity if something doesn´t work- they all work very hard ! I´m doing the sport myself so I know what I´m talking about -Thanks for reading this;-)
Everybody says she should get rid of 3As,but she knows better then anyone else that 3A is much harder jumps than the others and that she would do again at competition if she doesn't try any in a season. Besides,her goal is set all triples in FS,so she tried it.
Mao's performance is no worse than that of Alissa's when her messed up and chaotic programs are filled with poorly executed jumps and bad placements on her landings. I prefer watching this to Aliss'a sloppy skating routines.

Exactly. Mao is i am sure the one who is pushing the jump. could you imagine giving up something you worked so hard for?
I'm sure she proof she can do 3A again in a performance next season even in a beginning of the season!!
