For everyone complaining about the price, if you hunt, does a high dollar rifle kill a deer any better than a cheap one? Especially when you can shoot 1 or 2 deer a year (in many areas). Does every duck hunter need a Benelli Cordoba to shoot some ducks over a Remington 870? People are enthusiasts in their own right. What seems overkill to one person may fit another's fancy. I get crap for having high end fishing gear. The same people giving me crap have jacked up trucks with aggressive, oversized tires and other mods and, never take the truck off the pavement. I don't hunt, have money into my truck or spend money really on anything else besides fishing. Do what you do
Hobie-Wan Kenobi totally agree brother. Ppl give me crap about my high end gear and my rods are in the 250-300 range. I don’t buy the latest fashion outfits, don’t have 20 pairs of shoes, don’t go out and eat 5 times a week. Everyone has different interest. Buy what makes you happy and stop judging. I hope one day I get to own one of these conquest. They look amazing.
Hobie-Wan Kenobi yeah don't get knocking people for high end gear, I personally stick to lower end mid range gear but I'm only 20 don't spend more then 150 on a rod now I also stick to under spending 150 or less per reel too. But it's easy to understand why you you'd want to get the high end stuff adding most brands are backed by life time warranties on there top shelf products.
I was speaking out of pure functionality. Most people's argument to buying expensive fishing gear is that they catch the same fish with a 30 dollar combo or a 300 dollar combo. Same can be said for hunting or most sports
To keep everything in perspective, there are plenty of guys in $50k + bass boats when a $15k boat could get the job done. That makes a $600 + rod seem not so excessive . Just looking at it from another angle. 🎣
Well it's up to people, high end gears are more satisfy than low end gears in my opinion. There are a lot difference between high end gears and low end gears, quality and performance. Yes, I agree that they can both do the same job, but that doesnt mean buying high end gears is waste of money. Spending money on something you like doesnt me you over spending, it's all about enjoying your life.
man these Tim and Matt dudes cant win for losing! guy makes a Ned rig video and people COMMENT adding their to cents, "reminding" us exactly what he already said in the video. He does a $200 combo video guys say they want something more high end. he does a $600 new Loomis rod video guys bash the price! Loomis isn't pricing themselves out of the market people, this is their new, HIGHEST END ROD! Matt how do you even have the time to reply to all these people just talking around in circles man? just keep it up some of us are watching and listening. I don't expect this comment to last long I won't get sucked into tons of negativity and I'll just delete it but I love you!!!!!
I don’t care what anyone says about the price of these rods...the 844c is the best jig rod I’ve ever owned. And it’s not like there’s even a “close second”. For jigs of ALL SIZES...finesse on up, the 844 is a absolute monster. Puts them precisely where I want them *tick...BOOM* and they’re out of the water before they know what hit em. Perfect action, lightweight, comfortable, eats up any bait you tie on (within reason), no fear of breaking the rod and you can feel everything. That’s as good as it gets in my book...whether or not its worth $700 is up to you. For the record, I paid about $400 for mine...you just have to be somewhat “resourceful” and patient...
I absolutely love the sensitivity and power of the expride As. Loomis and shimano are two of my main brands for rods so this looks up my ally. I have heard some reviews but I look forward to hearing your reviews after you guys have thoroughly fished them. And although i am a big spender when it comes to quality, in order for this rod to be worth the money it really has to blow the expride out of the water. Thanks in advance Tim and Matt.
Ryan Lol I have a 842s conquest myself and I absolutely love it. But if I'm being honest the difference between this and an Expride or even a Zodias is not a $400 difference IMO.
The rods are pricey but, the Conquest is sick. It is everything that people complained that was missing about the NRX. I have a video review the Conquest as well and I can tell you that the rod feels ligher/better balanced that the NRX and more durable. I have had reservations when laying into a hookset with the NRX and other high end rods. The Conquest feels "confident" under load and can handle some good hooksets. As far as the price, give it a few months and deals could be found.
TacticalBassin It is great that it's solid yet, has a nice, complex taper to it. Hard to get a good taper with that reassuring backbone. Looking forward to the on the water footage. It's been negative 0 for a few days. Gotta wait for a week to get it out
Never seen an NRX break and I own a fleet of them, so do two of fishing buddies. I have seen two Exprides break and one was on one their videos lol. So I’m not sold on the carbon tape gimmick doing anything. Not saying it’s a bad rod but seeing two break...I’ll stick to the made in USA Loomis blanks. Like the look of the NRX better too
Glad I bought a medium and medium heavy mag bass casting pair before the latest price bump this past winter. They were expensive at $735 a piece but now they’re pushing $800 but on the water you can definitely tell the difference.
Got an NRX that I still haven’t tried yet, too cold in the Midwest. But St Croix Legend Elite have torzite guides, $200 cheaper than the Conquest...they actually come in cheaper than the NRX as well...lookin forward to comparison of NRX vs Legend Elite...love my Elite, so we’ll see come early spring. Great vid Matt
Can you make a video about fishing in winter for trophy bass from the bank? You can talk about the best locations and what are the best baits to use from the bank.
Every time tacticalbassin puts out a video it always pisses me off to see they still only have 86k subs. This damn channel deserves 500k subs. I hope 2018 gives your channel 500k+ subs keep up the great work tacticalbassin!
Love my Poison Adrena's with Spiral-X and my Expride's with Hi-Power X. Accuracy and pinpoint casting is very noticeable. Can't wait to try a a couple of the 7'6's! Great video!
Matt, you are holding the 844c in the video. Since you prefer a longer and moderate action for jigging I'm curious what technique you would use the 844 with. I just got a 844c mbr in the ex6 series (couldn't pass the deal up) and being solid water here in Illinois I can't test it yet. I already have a dobyns savvy 735c I use for jigging but can't wait to compare.
Although I am not likely to spend 675 bucks on one rod, I like keeping up with the technology. It will trickle down over time to rods more in my price range.
+Money Bass 👍 No Shame in That! They're the top of the top. We've got to try them but you won't see us with full lines, we've got to stay in budget too!
If i was to start buying better quality rods which techniques would shine the most with a better quality rod? Just trying to figure out where to start.
Hey guys just wondering how do the Nrx rods compare to the conquest rods in sensitivity? I know the conquest rods are basically the mag bass Loomis rods with Shimano technology but are those less sensitive than Nrx rods?
Hey just wondering if you've had any experience with the Shimank scorpion 17 DC? I recently got it and everything is great about the reel. A great DC scream, really smooth...but it doesn't seem to be casting very far. It's paired on a Shimano Expride 6'10 medium for jerkbaits (which is what you recommended). Fell in love with the rod, but kinda disappointed on the distance of the DC right now. Any suggestions of what might be happening? Oh btw I'm throwing mainly 3/8-1/2oz jerkbaits such as the vision 110 and the vision 80. My line is 12 lb mono. Thanks!
TacticalBassin I don't think so, it's spool tension is set just to where there's not side to side movement in the spool. Another question, I don't want to be waisting your time, but Im trying to get a new buzzbait setup and T-Rig set up before Spring/the spawn starts. I'm only 15 but I'll work hard for my equipment. So price point isn't really a problem. Anywhere between 500-700 is about my price point (per setup). Thanks!!
I know you guys are patrons of G Loomis, and Shimano, but have you ever tried Gary Loomis New Brand. North Fork Composite Edge ? The Black Widow looks so Fine, but there are very very limited supplies .
I think it's interesting that in 2020 your view has shifted. I know you still like the Conquest, but you continue to seem to support the NRX lineup more and have said so in your recent videos. I JUST purchased my first NRX last night. I can't wait to test it out. -mM
I've been thinking about going ape sht crazy and pullin the trigger on a super high end combo... is this Conquest really worth an extra $180 over the NRX?
hey Matt Im wondering if you ever get any of the Megabass true Jdm rods or any of the other true Jdm rods. if so can you review some. Im thinking about getting a Couple I've been looking at . thanks guys!!
When can we expect to see a long term report on these rods since you guys have been fishing them for a while. Like myself, I think most folks (other than the detractors) will be most interested in how they compare to NRX.
We love the Dobyns Champion Extremes, they're great rods and we use them a lot. That said, we know the limits. If you're looking for that crazy sensitivity, they aren't playing in the same ball park with the Conquest or the NRX. It really is that different. That's not a bash, we love the rods, that's a real answer.
PD1729 for real honestly dobyns colt line makes me feel stupid spending the cash I have on other rods. 80 bucks and it feels like 200 bucks in my hands
I’ve personally always been a dobyns guy with shimano reels, but i may need to save up for this one. I’ll have to do a lot of research first but i’m looking forward to eventually trying or maybe even purchasing one!
Aldebaran is shallow spool with a different brake system for lighter lines and lures, basically a niche market for "finesse" baitcasting. Metanium is the "regular" baitcaster for the normal Med-Heavy-XXHeavy rods, significantly larger spool for larger diameter lines.
+William Johnson No advertisement here! We're giving a fair review, just like we did of $100 rods last month. There are guys with all kinds of budgets and they all deserve a look before they buy.
Hey Matt love your videos.im just getting back into fishing. Thanks for all the time you spend posting all these videos. The conquest 905c mbr,can that be used as a swim bait rod?
I was able to try one of the Conquest rods and they are almost identical to the NRX that I have. I don't see the big difference and it is not worth the asking price. I love my 2 NRX, 1 spinning and 1 casting and that was painful to buy those. I now buy a lot of the E6X rods, they are a great rod and 1/3 of the cost. A very small market for this kind of price point I would think.
Loomis told of a time way back when a guy brought in his snapped rod, after the guy said how it broke he handed him the same and tied it off and told him to show him how it broke while fighting the fish. Said if you break it I'll give you three of your choice and the guy pulled and pulled and it didn't snap then Loomis took it and slammed it on the concrete then let the guy try again and it snapped. The guy asked where to pay for his new rod.
Exactly, always liked that interview, just dropping it or hitting it on something can weaken it, still looks fine but when a decent bass or heaven forbide a huge cat grabs your crank and the weakness shatters lol.
Yeap I believe it. Pulled in a 15lb sturgeon with a Light power Gloomis WGLX rod. When that sturgeon dove under my boat and almost spooled me, I tightened the drag and the rod bent literally 180 and did not break. I'll never buy anything else! I'm actually really impress with Gloomis warranty also. They know 95% of all rods sent in for warranty is user error, but they honor it unlike St.Croix...
There has been a rod company I have been using named cousins tackle. They are local to your guys state, being California, and I think their products are amazing for the money. But it would be cool if you guys could check them out and possibly do a review on them. I'm not affiliated with them, but personally think they are good rods
I plan on saving up to get one of the more expensive G Loomis drop shot spinning rods but that’s a bit crazy for the price. I’d be afraid to use it. 😫. Cool video though. Thanks guys!!!!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻👍🏻👍🏻👊🏻👊🏻🎣🎣🐟🐟
+BASS SLAYIN' NOOB 86 No worries! Definitely stay in your budget brother! That GLX Tim dropshot with is still an extremely high end rod and knocks a couple hundred off the top. 👍
As I wipe the drool from my mouth.... Definitely sweet, maybe next year at 20% off I might be able to purchase - Without getting divorced!! lol Thanks for the quick vid.
I won one off a give away! Man, this rod is the definition of perfection. I got it paired up with my shimano mentanuim DC. It's a super light combo. Tight lines guys!
Isn't G Loomis basically Shimano anyway? People always say Shimano bought G Loomis for years now and Gary Loomis is not involved with the company for years? Not sure on whats really true but heard this a lot.
This is the Ferrari of rods, I get shitting on the price but no matter what hobby it is there is always the two ends of the spectrum. Rods like this make even the shitty rods better by advancing the technology. In 20 years this type of rod might be in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart
Bought the antares reel about 6 months before conquest release, this is the rolls royce of fishing rods, understand why many arent willing to fork out the cash, but holy s#%t, nothing compares to this. Just compare it to high quality italian skeet shotguns if it makes you feel better.
That's cool. I fished with Stcroix rods for 10 years not understanding the hype around GLoomis rods. The Croixs are fine rods, but I picked up a GLX and an NRX for a bargain. I spent a whole season with the Loomis rods. The following year I sold all my Croix rod for NRXs. The only Stcroix rod I still have left is the Legend Xtreme.
I’m gonna give one of these a shot… I a nrx and I do not like the Mickey Mouse guides on it “coils” on a $500 rod ??? Seriously? I didn’t know that when I bought it online
I got one 2 years ago and they are amazing. Super low weight, feels good, great action. Literally everything you could ask for
For everyone complaining about the price, if you hunt, does a high dollar rifle kill a deer any better than a cheap one? Especially when you can shoot 1 or 2 deer a year (in many areas). Does every duck hunter need a Benelli Cordoba to shoot some ducks over a Remington 870?

I got the 843c. So far, it seems like a stellar rod. I need some warmer weather to shoot an on the water video.
Hobie-Wan Kenobi I believe I saw you initial review, looking forward to your on the water review.
Hobie-Wan Kenobi yeah don't get knocking people for high end gear, I personally stick to lower end mid range gear but I'm only 20 don't spend more then 150 on a rod now I also stick to under spending 150 or less per reel too. Ryan Douche defected
@Ryan if youre so rich buy me one
The duck laughing in the background, hysterically says it all.
Was anyone really expecting a bad review? 🤣😂
The rods are pricey but, the Conquest is sick. It is everything that people complained that was missing about the NRX. +DW B 100%! A lot of that tech is already in the Exprides at mid $200's, the rods we fell in love w ith last year.
I do the same thing brother
This will be a pure luxury want not because I need it but I'm gonna start saving for one. Gorgeous rod
+LMB_ Toad_Catcher Ha! We're in that same boat brother, it's a want rather than a need but if you can swing one... 100% do it!
TacticalBassin Might take a month or two of saving but that rod with a metanium dc just sounds like heaven.
Sounds like they are good rods. To expensive for me. 😳
*Catching Bass for Cash*
+Money Bass 👍 No Shame in That! They're the top of the top. We've got to try them but you won't see us with full lines, we've got to stay in budget too!
Our local shops on Lanier have them......of course they will cut a deal on them
I noticed you said the Nrx rods have different guides throughout the rod, just wondering (im OCD) do they look different or not uniform?
NRX, first 3 guides are Fuji SiC, the smaller ones leading up to the tip are REC recoil guides. Conquest is all Fuji Torzite.
If i was to start buying better quality rods which techniques would shine the most with a better quality rod? Just trying to figure out where to start.
Hey guys just wondering how do the Nrx rods compare to the conquest rods in sensitivity? I know the conquest rods are basically the mag bass Loomis rods with Shimano technology but are those less sensitive than Nrx rods?
the duck in the background is laughing at ya for spending that much on that rod hahaha... no all joking aside I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Hmmm... sounds like the reel is just adjusted to tightly. Any chance that's the case?
TacticalBassin I don't think so, it's spool tension is set just to where there's not side to side movement in the spool. Another question, I don't want to be waisting your time, but Im trying to get a new buzzbait setup and T-Rig set up before Spring/the spawn starts. I'm only 15 but I'll work hard for my equipment. Wish I bought them earlier because they went up!
I know you guys are patrons of G Loomis, and Shimano, but have you ever tried Gary Loomis New Brand. North Fork Composite Edge ? The Black Widow looks so Fine, but there are very very limited supplies .
Best combo i own truly enjoyable to fish!!! Thanks for the recommendation guys!!!
which rod do you have?
904 MBR its a fantastic pitching and jig rod!
paired up with the antares its just insane how good it feels
I think it's interesting that in 2020 your view has shifted. I know you still like the Conquest, but you continue to seem to support the NRX lineup more and have said so in your recent videos. I JUST purchased my first NRX last night. I can't wait to test it out. -mM
While everybody is complaining about the prices, I got mine from the Shimano elite code. Half price off homie! :)
The ducks in the background seem to like the rod 😂
+Hayden Marshalll Ha!!
1:37 even the ducks be laughing at the price of this rod
I've been thinking about going ape sht crazy and pullin the trigger on a super high end combo... is this Conquest really worth an extra $180 over the NRX?
yes!
Just bought one, going to compare it with my nrx
Hkacp how’s the comparison?
hey Matt Im wondering if you ever get any of the Megabass true Jdm rods or any of the other true Jdm rods. if so can you review some. Im thinking about getting a Couple I've been looking at . thanks guys!!
those ducks in the background matt just put the rod down and pick up a shotgun😂
+BASSINWITHCLASS Hahaha! They're terrible!
When can we expect to see a long term report on these rods since you guys have been fishing them for a while. Like myself, I think most folks (other than the detractors) will be most interested in how they compare to NRX.
Did the ducks take Time place?
I know its off the video topic but is the daiwa tatula HD a good reel to pear with the dobyns fury 806 swim bait rod
Shimano poison has the same built too with half the price but I want to feel the conquest rod in my hands.
Hey Matt, can you compare the Dobyns Champion Extreme vs the Conquest? Big difference??
We love the Dobyns Champion Extremes, they're great rods and we use them a lot. That said, we know the limits. If you're looking for that crazy sensitivity, they aren't playing in the same ball park with the Conquest or the NRX. It really is that different. That's not a bash, we love the rods, that's a real answer.
Sweet looking rod! Thank you for posting it!!
+Interp66 We're happy to do it 👍
I’m not putting 6 Benjamin’s on a rod
+PD1729 Fair enough! 👍 Did you catch last month's reviews of $200 and $300 combos?
PD1729 for real honestly dobyns colt line makes me feel stupid spending the cash I have on other rods. 80 bucks and it feels like 200 bucks in my hands
I would
Cool story
What Conquest would you fish Senko with ?
Love your video. I have a 853 NRX paired with an Alde 50MGL I also have a 893 but have been debating between the Met MGL or DC?
We've just started playing with the DC but its sweet!! If it were me that's definitely what I'd get at this point.
Greatest rod ever built!!!
Yes Sir!
So would this be a good rod for me to put my Antares DC M.D. on?
I don't think any rod is worth $674.99
Matthew Lucas gotta fish w one bro
Matthew Lucas you might change your mind
A decent kayak is cheaper
Matthew Lucas go to Kmart and get the Grey shimano it works just as good .. caught 9 pounder and it played it perfect
Bass fishing NYC I'm not going to buy the cheapest there is, but I'm not going to spend almost 700. And I'm not going into a Kmart
I like Loomis rods but I like my Daiwa Steez AGS rods a bit more. Ergonomics mostly, and the carbon fiber guides are amazing
+Lex Cooper We've used them quite a bit too and a few of those models are AWESOME!!
I would like to see a review between this and the new St. Croix Legend X rod
I’ve personally always been a dobyns guy with shimano reels, but i may need to save up for this one. I’ll have to do a lot of research first but i’m looking forward to eventually trying or maybe even purchasing one!
I have an opportunity to buy one of these Conquest rods for $520 + tax on black friday at a local tackle shop. Wondering if I should get it.
I know this is a year ago but I got one about a year and half back and I love it
Is there a updated video to this... on the water review ?
Matt, did you notice that dock laughing at the background? Haha so funny, anyways I got mine delivered today, I got 844c as you recommended. Thank You
Conquest as in conquest the deer? If so they expand so big now and is doing so great now.
after just picking one up in cabelas and feeling how light it was I'd say yes lol
+Andy D Crazy isn't it??
TacticalBassin yea it is, might have to save up for one
What is the difference in Aldebaran v Metanium , both being same price...and I read reviews of dogging the NRX compared to Conquest... REALLY 🙀
Aldebaran is shallow spool with a different brake system for lighter lines and lures, basically a niche market for "finesse" baitcasting. Metanium is the "regular" baitcaster for the normal Med-Heavy-XXHeavy rods, significantly larger spool for larger diameter lines.
So does it fall in the shimano warranty or Gloomis?
GLoomis
That duck was laughing at the price of the rod you were advertising that is insane over 600 dollars probably close to 700 with tax!!!!
+William Johnson No advertisement here! We're giving a fair review, just like we did of $100 rods last month. There are guys with all kinds of budgets and they all deserve a look before they buy.
Sorry you’re broke.
Do you guys seal the cork on your rods?
Would you recommend a dobyns 795 or 806 for a first Swimbait rod
806
Why are the 883 and 884 real hooks different?
Hey Matt love your videos.im just getting back into fishing. Thanks for all the time you spend posting all these videos. The conquest 905c mbr,can that be used as a swim bait rod?
Haha is Tim sitting in a bush over there with a duck call? Hahahaha c:
+Shane B 😂 Those birds were brutal!
VIDEO-
Do a buyers guide for texas rigs and stick baits for pond fishing please!!
Is that Tim laughing behind you LOL
Loomis told of a time way back when a guy brought in his snapped rod, after the guy said how it broke he handed him the same and tied it off and told him to show him how it broke while fighting the fish. Said if you break it I'll give you three of your choice and the guy pulled and pulled and it didn't snap then Loomis took it and slammed it on the concrete then let the guy try again and it snapped. The guy asked where to pay for his new rod.
+Lance Howard Ha! It's amazing how many "failures" have nothing to do with the rods. 👍
How does the weight compare to a expride of the same length/power?
+manzokazi Significantly lighter. But as you know we still LOVE our Exprides!
What is the best rod and real baitcasting combo for a teen under 200
We actually have a video we did last month on that exact topic. Head into our backlogs and you'll find it.
Ha! We're happy to do it :-)
I won one off a give away! Man, this rod is the definition of perfection. I got it paired up with my shimano mentanuim DC. It's a super light combo. Tight lines guys!
Fenwick makes fire Rods I have two of them
Do the new big bait rods G Loomis put out that replaced the 956 and 957
That's out of my price range for now. I also wait till they test it with the fish on it in the water of course.
+bobfishnut It's going to be fun!
Still would like to get your guys opinions on the actions vs the nrx
Yes they definitely have different actions but look forward to comparing them!
They have got to be sweet rods..I cant see them being much better than the NRX though!
I don't know that better is the right word. They're really different.
I love my nrx's, we'll see how this one goes.
Kalue Vue I have the next sjr842s nrx love it this new rod looks like an nrx with a update to blank
+Kalue Vue We're looking forward to your report back 👍
love you videos guys
Thank you!
+thedude756 Thats a great perspective! As tech advances, prices drop and quality advances 👍
Now that my friend was well put!👊💥
So what’s the verdict? Is it worth it? Better than a nrx? Blasphemy to say those things
How about a review on ALX Zolo rods? I've been hearing they're NRX quality and sensitivity but at around $220.
Bought the antares reel about 6 months before conquest release, this is the rolls royce of fishing rods, understand why many arent willing to fork out the cash, but holy s#%t, nothing compares to this. Just compare it to high quality italian skeet shotguns if it makes you feel better.
Totally agree! Such AWESOME equipment for those that want to play!
Found one new for $500 shipped. 7’ Heavy MBR...
Would much rather buy two St. Croix Legend Tourneys!
Ducks are cracking up
ill stay with a st.croix..these are excellent made strong, extremely sensitive, and very light weight, and priced reasonably with lifetime warranty..
They feel nice but I will stick to my NRX and GLX for now
All 3 are great!
Well I did it, bought one at the sportsman show, but at a "good" price :) . Can't wait for ice out up here in the north.
and also edge rods by Gary loomis himself!!
$700 for a 842s is not a bad deal if you look at it as buying 1 rod to do all spinning applications
G.Loomis has and is still pricing themselves out of the market regardless of quality because very few if any can afford them!
Can u please do a review on the new Phenix feather bass spinning rods please
You guys should do a review on the 13 fishing reel with zero ball bearings
+Bradley Thompson 👍👍
Bradley Thompson shimano all day
shimano for the win
Get the Zodie rod from Shimano same x shift just different components ...........( I believe )
You should have tested out it’s accuracy on that duck in the background
+Sir Gillium 😂
that rod vost more than my freaking kayak
They're VERY pricey, its not for everyone.
TacticalBassin no kidding man
I want one and want to pair it up with the Antares DC
+Ying Yang Yeah Buddy!!! What an EPIC combo!!
Kistler is just as good but won’t break the bank
Check out the Phenix Feather for 1/4 price
