Hey guys, sorry for the delay on this upload! I finished it a while back but had to wait 30 days for a copyright claim dispute to expire before I could post it. Already working very hard on the next video! Thanks for watching!
You should review more Disney Channel original movies... especially the Paper Brigade. Two others that come to mind are Smart House..and one that is similar to Johnny Tsunami called Brink.
Small chance; but alittle over a year ago or so there was a commenter in the brutal moose videos who said they had cancer and watched these videos with their dad and it brightened up their day. I responded to their comment and they were absolutely pleasant and wonderful; Brutalmoose brother I hope you’re still around and feeling ok since we spoke. I hope you and your dad are both smiling and enjoying the time you got. Most of all I hope you’re happy and feeling at peace, friend.
I feel like Disney knew what real bullying looked like but had to tone it down for TV. And they often ended up with these weirdly non-insulting insults. Like what's a more badass image than a kid just chillin around a mountain covered in lava. May as well have been like "Maybe if he didn't spend so much time talking to hot beach babes he'd be a better boarder."
Idk, I would've thought the dad leaving when he saw his son sitting alone at lunch was because he didn't want to embarrass him? The other kids at this school are already making fun of him for being from Hawaii of all things, there's no way they wouldn't pounce on him if they saw that the only person who wanted to have lunch with him was his _dad._
I mean the real folly is planning th lunch visit in the first place: like imagine he did have new friends all around, and suddenly the new kid’s dad sits diwn to have lunch with you? You can’t pivot from that.
I remember my first time watching this movie. My, very, very crazy great aunt who didnt make it past the 4th grade in school, walked in about half way through. She told us every single thing that would happen in the movie (she had seen it before), we thought she was insane. Every single thing she said was true. That is how insanely wild this movie is.
It's weird seeing Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa play a character that's not evil and/or trying to devour souls. Unless there's another aspect to this character I'm missing.
-He's a neglectful father, oblivious to his own son's feelings.- I misunderstood. Peter doesn't surf at all in the movie, and in fact he does everything in his power to curb Johnny's surfing craze - Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa plays Grandpa T, the legendary surfer whom Johnny looks up to.
“Tsunami” is a reference to the tsunami of souls he consumes, not water. Not many know this, but Disney’s made for tv movies and Mortal Kombat exist in the same narrative universe.
Ian has a point... I really miss extreme board sports. I miss the simpler days when a weird dude rolled around on a little wheely board and then he had some video games.... good times
This movie was taped off tv at my grandparents house. I watched it 100 times growing up. This review is awesome to see since parts of this movie remain ingrained in my brain to this day.
"Hawaii" would totally just be like a nickname if they were buds. Reminds me of "Hocus Pocus", though, when the bullies call him "Hollywood", which would also be a great nickname if you moved to Salem like that.
Keep your tips up refers to the sign that is at the top of chairlifts, telling you to "keep your ski tips up" so they don't stab into the back of the unloading ramp and make you fall on your face.
Was the person who wrote the Dad character Asian? Because as an Asian American, he really nails the Asian parent. Maybe they were reliving their childhood trauma 😂 Also as someone who lives in Hawaii the mountain comment is hilarious to me/ essentially implying that we’re constantly surrounded by active volcanoes.
Heck, I don't even see how it's supposed to be an insult. Can you imagine the guts somebody would need to have to live around constantly active volcanoes? To suggest that's a person's norm is to only insinuate how tough they are to be able to survive in that environment.
Early 2000’s movies will never get old, especially since the amount released is insane! Thank you Ian, you sir are the lens I love watching them through.
Thank you for clarifying that Yungtown’s new Holes review is about the movie Holes with Shia LaBeouf and not Shia LaBeouf’s holes. The kids are much too young to see any Honeyboy holes.
I usually don’t like when mainly solo UA-camrs collaborate with someone else, but I really really liked it here. The editing as always is super fun, cheered me right up. Thank you Ian, and the other guy!
That "somebody please help me" expression at 16:43 is so me when at basically any social event with more than four people. 😂 I love everything about this video. Getting a video of Ian and Luke dissecting a DCOM is a precious treat. Time to re-watch a few 🤩
Let's go another DCOM review!! After your video on Zenon a few years ago, my roommates and I all marathoned all 115+ DCOMs simply because you shined the light on the joy they can bring. Thank you for that, genuinely a highlight of my time with friends. After watching every one, my girlfriend and I have started watching them again to become the only people to watch every DCOM twice, and making a podcast on them. It's been super fun, and I fully attribute it to your work. Thank you for making these videos, leading to some of my best memories. ~BenG (FYI the best part of this movie is tied between Zenon deciding to throw herself off a cliff to be cool and multiple kids sneaking on a plane to Hawaii)
That's really awesome dude! Way to stick to your guns! It's very difficult to follow through with something like that & you definitely deserve praise for accomplishing your goals!
"Hopping a military plane" may refer to traveling "Space A" on a military booked flight. It's when the military books out a whole plane but doesn't actually have enough personnel/gear to fill it so they give out the seats for free. Civilians can fly that (though I think they have to be family).
Ian's desk matches his skin-tone so well, it looks like he has a third arm extending from his crotchal region, holding up a large water bottle, or whatever that container is on his desk.
Holy crap! I remember when this movie came out, and I thought the main character looked SO MUCH OLDER than me. I thought "I can't wait to snowboard when I'm a big kid like that!" Damn you, Relentless Passage of Time!
As someone who's been skiing for over two decades, I can say with some certainty that Johnny wouldn't have been exaggerating that fall into the ski shop as much as you'd think. Falling that way onto snow is one thing, because the snow cushions your fall a bit (especially if it's nice and powdery). But falling that way onto the (presumably) carpeted-concrete floor of the ski shop would be a lot more painful, and Johnny would probably be sore for a day or two. Also, as much as I adore that one-liner from the ski shop manager (and I totally do), it baffles me why rentals and returns would ever _not_ be at the same counter with the same building entry point. That just seems incredibly inefficient.
DUDE you have no idea how amazing this timing was! I was binging your content for the past few days and had finished yesterday, this came just in time! Thank you for the video!
Love having some new BrutalMoose content but I will say I hope this isn't the direction the content keeps going I personally feel like the best is when Ian talks to us the viewers and cracks jokes at his own pace. Feels more connected and personal and mellow. The back and forth banter in this video sounds more like a podcast rather than a fun review. Again all my personal opinion but feel free to disagree or agree.
I remember seeing TV Ads for this film when watching the channel back when I was a kid, but I have never watched the film. Speaking of Disney Channel Original Movies, maybe one to look at would be GOING TO THE MAT.
This is the timeline where instead of finding the well of souls and the secret island he just ends up in hawaii and decides that surfing is way cooler than world domination.
Ironically enough in 2023 there was a huge explosion in popularity of pickleball in my area, they held public training sessions and competitions and stuff in my hometown. Everyone was pickleball obsessed
Ahhhh, a Brutal Moose collab review of an old Disney movie hardly any one remembers, and on a weekend no less. Staying out of the cold with some fine entertainment 🍷🧀
Had a big smile on my face watching the whole video - I love seeing you and Luke work together! As a Nickelodeon kid, I didn't experience most DCOMs as a youth, so these videos are very informative to me 😌
Keep your tips up means when you’re getting off the ski lift you need to keep your skis pointed vertically so they don’t get caught and break and you can get off the lift right
Tips Up: it's a sign on the chairlift warning skiiers and boarders to keep the front of their skiis or board elevated when exiting the chairlift, so that they dont dig into the snowbank and pull you off the lift. We always call it tits up too lmao

so happy to have another excellent dcom review, great job as always! although i am immensely distracted by what looks like a binney brush hat hanging up in the background??

Sorry you had to deal with yt’s bs Ian, thanks for the awesome video as always bro! 👊
No worries man. Keep up the outstanding work.
our patience will never diminish for you, moosey.
You should review more Disney Channel original movies... especially the Paper Brigade. Two others that come to mind are Smart House..and one that is similar to Johnny Tsunami called Brink.
Gonna savor new Brutalmoose like my name is Johnny Umami
Johnny has quite the pedigree. His Grandpop is Shang Tsung and his Dad is the bully from Karate Kid II
yeah I kept wondering why they are noticing all these Disney Channel people but never mention Chozen or Shang Tsung?
So what your telling me is that Johnny can steal your soul?possibly? XD
Pretty sure Johnny's dad was also the race car announcer in "Better Off Dead"... which also happens to be the best ski movie of all time!
@starkitten0075 OMG, you're right! I love that movie!
Villian arc. Fights dude from Brink.

“Guess he’s never been near a mountain that didn’t have lava coming out of it!”
What a strangely complimentary insult.
I feel like Disney knew what real bullying looked like but had to tone it down for TV. And they often ended up with these weirdly non-insulting insults. Like what's a more badass image than a kid just chillin around a mountain covered in lava. Agreed, I think that was the only good call the dad made in the movie lol
That's how I interpreted it too.
I mean the real folly is planning th lunch visit in the first place: like imagine he did have new friends all around, and suddenly the new kid’s dad sits diwn to have lunch with you? You can’t pivot from that.
Ian talking about movies I have never seen is something I will drop everything I am doing to watch
I don’t think I’ve ever agreed with anything more than this…
I'll drop everything I'm doing to watch you.....
@@gaki8844 who me?
11:57 reversing the footage but keeping the normal audio is such a simple edit but I can’t stop laughing at it
This is funny. Literally the other day I was thinking “Man, I’m in the mood for a new BrutalMoose video.” And now here we are.
i have that thought every day
you'll only have to wait another 5 months to a year if that craving comes up again
Dude, that shot with the stuntman! Fully face toward camera for like three whole seconds casually boarding away! They completely gave up, lol!
Plot twist: the grandfather only got the Johnny Tsunami title after he stole the soul of the prior holder
Only few people will understand
Finally, Ian and Luke's review of Johnny Tsunami has been released from the Disney Vault! Awesome video as always.
Ian’s absolute reveling over Johnny getting totally munched by Vermont menace, The Brett, is pure gold.
The subtle tray explosion at 5:57 sent me
I know, I couldn't believe they didn't say anything about it!
@@Malbeur To be fair, I saw that comment and still had to watch it twice to notice it.
How did it do that?
@octaviacoquus8857
Fluid + cylindrical container+ energy = plop.
Dad leaving his loser son had me in stitches 😆
"keep your tips up" is a safety thing for the ski lift. When you get to the top, you keep your tips up so they don't get caught in the top ramp.
Tits*
Always glad to see Yungtown
I got served a snowboarding equipment ad on this, I love that UA-cam ads are taking Johnny Tsunami as a sport film for sporty people

I love this story.
Why the fuck she spoiling
It's weird seeing Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa play a character that's not evil and/or trying to devour souls. Unless there's another aspect to this character I'm missing.
Where do you think he got the power to surf so well? He collects souls on the mortal Kombat island as a day job, and surfs on the weekends.
-He's a neglectful father, oblivious to his own son's feelings.-
I misunderstood. Peter doesn't surf at all in the movie, and in fact he does everything in his power to curb Johnny's surfing craze - Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa plays Grandpa T, the legendary surfer whom Johnny looks up to.

Commenting in hopes of boosting the vid so Ian can get to 1M subs this year, totally deserved and long overdue
The kid with the dreads on his hat is officially the coolest thing I've ever seen
This video gave me the realization that we need more xtreme sports compilations backed with smooth jazz
