It's because you got the wrong pillows, and the wrong backs with the wrong seats lol Deep seating requires 29-in back, where is the regular seating requires a 35-in back. If you get the deep seating setup should also come with the smaller 29-in pillow it's not them it's you lol you don't know how to set it up or you pick the wrong configurations

You need to buy the deep seat back which is needed if you go 3 or more deep.

this is a problem when you have a choice of deep or shallow seating. not always going to line up.

Because I believe you are missing the deep seat back
... you loose 6 inches if you have it in the deep seat configuration ...
