2:15 the first BBC 1 logo I can remember. Introduced on the day Tom Baker made his debut as the Fourth Doctor in Season 12 of Doctor Who, the episode Robot
British Broadcasting Corporation also owns its UK home video sublabel, BBC Video, which released British programme on VHS, DVD and Blu-ray Disc such as S Club 7 in Miami, Doctor Who, Planet Earth and Fawlty Towers
Is that so ? Well, my State television , Rai (Italy) used to have some very scary and aggressive static and non - static logos and intros and outros , at least till 1986
Best logo for me, 1985. The COW image in this is just wonderful. Shame they couldn't stick with the 1985 one, lovely gold colour. Still, have to move with the times I suppose.
This is fantastic, except ... the ident channel logo is really distracting and really, really annoying ... enough that despite a deep interest in the subject of idents I find myself wanting to actively avoid this channel, sorry. Thanks anyway for the hard work.
With the little help of Ben from Oddity Archive with his Test Cards and Patterns video, thought of remaking my BBC ident and begin collecting BBC logos, and I was able to find the earliest BBC logo from 1934 from an archive website (the original one). I’m able to find a clip of a BBC ident from September 5, 1981 (different from the blue ident also from 1981), and believe it or not, found it here at UA-cam, though I wasn’t able to copy the uploader’s channel name. I’m admittedly being meticulous of gathering idents and pick the best one for an ident of a particular year, but on this ident from September 5, 1981, in this case I automatically downloaded the clip via IDM, renamed it to the ident date and directly close that UA-cam tab where the video’s being played, and later I wondered I forgot to list the channel name. It wasn’t found like simply searching “bbc logo september 5 1981” or “bbc logo 1981” etc, with consecutive clicks on the right portion or “related videos” where I randomly found that video. I can’t find it also via History on the left portion ‘coz I wasn’t able to log in on my UA-cam account, neither on my other accounts, also I’m on incognito mode at that time (like I always do when opening my social media accounts) so yeah.
Great logos and idents but I couldn't watch it. Your "Ident Channel" box/website promo moving about on top of the video really spoilt it. I clicked on this video to watch vintage idents, not to be told to go to your facebook. I understand that you may want to 'watermark' your content, but as it's the BBC's content, I don't see why your watermark features so prominently
I feel like I can remember one from when I was young, maybe 1997-2002? Where there was a lady in a purple dress dancing, for some reason this one stuck with me in my memory. I can’t find it anywhere, don’t suppose anyone knows what I’m going on about?
1953 is kind of creepy. I didn't watch much past that because the damn channel ID blocked a lot of the view. Stick it in a corner. I'll watch a different channel for info instead.
Great until 2002, rubbish since The story of BBC 1 is really epitomised in these logos. It’s sad to see the channel that was once the greatest in the world become the woke propaganda that it now is.
A concept through time, picture,LOGO, identity and corporate images all seamlessly included in this excellently devised video.

Only when we got to 1997 I was like I know this. Nice to see in the 80s how polished the logos became.
I remember the 'old' BBC1 logos from all time in my lifetime, although I was only born in 1978. Maybe there will be a more updated one in the future.
I was born in 1978 too, the earliest one i remember is the 1981-1985 ident
Seemed like there was a lot more islands north and east of Australia on the mechanical globe before what appeared on the 1985 COW globe.

The 1936-1960 are rest are not very scary lol
Modern ones are poor. So little vision.
For me they are great with many memories, pretty much boring from 2002

@Kukilatoo i mean its still annoying but ok
Huh? Distracting and really really annoying? Crazy how you had to look for this video… to write that…
The yellow bar that moves continuously from right to left messes up the whole picture. Really annoying

By year of TV broadcast alone, BBC has a three-year jump on NBC. 1936 to 1939.
