The spores are vulnerable to cold, so they spread slower in ice biomes and take damage from snowballs. You can craft a super helpful block called a CDU that will turn infected blocks and infected mobs back to normal.
Also there are some premade structures that can't get infected by spores
The 3 Calamities also have weak spots that can be removed if hit enough.
Siegers (Scorpion) tail wich once removed will stop it from shooting explosives.
Hullbreakers (Fish) Tongue wich also stops ranged attacks.
Hindenburg (Giant Air ship) there are i believe bodies on the lower body of it that can be broken off. Im not 100% sure what they remove tho.
All these also give you bonus materials. Think of em as Monster Hunter Part breaks lol.

A cheval de frise is what the French call a barrier or barricade. Like a spiked fence. They were used to stop horses, basically impaling them so soldiers in war couldn't just barge through on horses.

Ow. Yea I think those wooden spikes were sometimes hidden beneath straw or half buried in earth, so the Riders wouldn’t notice them until the spikes pieced through the horses hooves.
It also means "Frisian horse" which also indicates that it was an anti-cavalry barrier like you mentioned

I cannot overstate how much I enjoyed the whole cheval de frise conversation. Did not see the Mr Freeze digression coming at all. Also, America is doing it wrong, I'm french and we have Mr Freeze (and cheval de frise apprently) in France.
After all of these videos I'm still not convinced "The Mustard Institute" isn't just Sean's shady travel agency business.
America has a Mr. Freeze equivalent (brands here are regional. In the west they’re called Otter Pops)

Spore is the closest we will get to Scape And Run in modern Minecraft besides a full-on port. The only thing it lacks are actual parasites, but it has the advanced body horror, mobs mainly spawning naturally instead of in a rapidly spreading biome (although that is present as well), and the drops being more flesh oriented than something like wither or sculk. It’s perfect.
Heres a tip if you revisit this mod one day!

I should also tell you that the spore gets a massive debuff in cold biomes and all spore mobs and the spore itself is weak to fire. Well... all but Hullbreaker (The Fish) if burned enough Hullbreaker becomes immune to all fire damage. Hes the only one who does this tho.
Also you are correct. Prepare... means a calamity mob is spawning.
And Incoming... means a Calamity Mob has spawned and or a calamity mob that has spawned before is now gonna head towards you.

I'm pretty sure the mycelium can't infect ice blocks, if so then it's possible to live in an iceberg.
Spore infection also gets a debuff in cold biomes (i believe slowness, weakness and quicker starving) so yes cold biomes are the best places to live with the spore mod.
Starving btw affects how many Calamities spawn and how often mobs mutate.
Spore needs like with Parasites, to eat. It eats by killing mobs and pasively. Once a spore mob has eaten enough it mutates. Once a Hivemind has eaten enough it creates stronger Infected and it can spawn a womb, Infected Mobs sacrifice themselfs to the wombs till the womb has enough foodpoints, once it has then 1 of 3 Calamitys spawn.
Most common are Siegers. (Scorpions)
Second most common are Hullbreakers. (Fish)
And rarest are Hindenburgs. (Balloons)

Siegers 7/10 change to spawn from a womb.
Hullbreakers 2/10 change to spawn from a womb
Hindenburg 1/10 change to spawn from a womb.
There is also a timer i believe. Calamities cant spawn natrually in i believe 15 days. And Hindenburgs spawn after 50 days i believe.
@@draw2death421some of the things you said are wrong. spore mobs only need to kill one time to evolve. They need to kill 5 mobs to hyper evolve. Age 3+ mounds create reconstructed minds that spore mobs feed if they have extra kill points. (They obtain extra kill points if they already reached their maximum stage for evolution. they give those extra kill points to the reconstructed mind) once the reconstructed mind has 25 kill points, “Endure…” will appear in chat meaning that a proto hive mind has appeared nearby. Phm have a range of 1k blocks. If you kill anything within that range, the phm will sense it and if it happened to be an evolved or hyper evolved, it has a chance of spawning a womb. They require 100 biomass and make 1 biomass every 20 seconds. They also obtain biomsss from eating other spore mobs.
Seiger=ground support
Gazanbreacher=water support
Hindenburg=air support
If you happen to be in the air or water or land when a vigil raid happens, a vigil will send that information to the proto hivemind then it will make a womb depending on where the player is. The phm has another way of making certain calamities. If the player kills an evolved mob while deep underground, a gazanbreacher womb will be made. If the player is at a higher elevation, a Hindenburg will be made. If your on the ground a seiger will be made.

finally new content from Robert, i check every day to see if this man uploaded anything new
Here's more of a challenge to create TLOU even further:
-no cure once infected (infected by breathing in spores or getting an open wound by another infected)
-not only is the infected a thing, but also military personnel that will attack when spotting you (either representing the very beginning of the outbreak or when they see people outside of quarantine zones)
Objective of this play would be to try to look for a cure, so it's not a matter of pure survival, but rather trying to save what's left of the world
I was kinda hoping you guys would turn up the spread rate and just let the infection play out on its own, engaging in a final battle to destroy the hivemind, but I guess giving it more hiveminds works...

When it comes to the Calamities, I believe I have a solution:
Create: Big Cannons
I have an idea for adding some protection to buildings and whatnot in this game: once the build is complete, add a layer of glass around the structure (to prevent infection of the home) and then add a layer of block of choice to protect both the glass and potentially somewhat protect the house from explosives
Why glass? Use obsidian or tuff blocks because tuff blocks have more blast resistance
Or even just make a sky base
Hey Robert, about the Bad Omen and the raids. The raid only will start IF the village HAVE villagers, if its empty then the raid simply won't start, so its not about the village to begin with but the villagers, they trigger the raid, for instance if you have villagers at your deep forest cabin, away from any villages and have bad omen then pillagers will raid your home as if it was a village
so we're not gonna question the amount of times Sean changed skins this game. WHATS UP WITH THE SALMON SKIN? also the long videos are really good. keep up the good work !!!
you guys should totally add the Parcool mod when you play these, it would totally help out a bunch! It lets you do a bunch or parkour like jumping up 2 and 3 block high walls

I may be just a tad bit slow but you should have tried to build a barrier around your base and under as well or nether blocks and stuff like that, seemed like that's what helped kinda push the infection back at least a bit

Hey Robert, i dont know if you will read this, but if you are making another modpack for a video with HBM nuclear tech mod, dont use HBM ntm reloaded, its outdated. Use HBM ntm extended which tries to keep up with the original version and has more performace than reloaded (its for 1.12.2 also)

I believe Marker 2 makes all spore mobs target you for as long as you have that debuff. Don’t quote me on that one though.
The “teeth things” are called wombs which spawn calamities. Spore mobs will sacrifice themselves into them to make them grow and eventually give birth to a calamity.

A cheval de frize is a wood pike that is designed for stopping "horses"
And cheval means horse in french...
13:37 Idk if anyone has mentioned it already but a cheval de frise ,also known as Chevaux De Frise, are basically anti cavalry spikes. They were primarily used, as you probably guessed, as a defensive obstacle against horseback riders. Used in the Middle Ages up to WW2 (shockingly yes) for jungle fighting in the South Pacific.

I fell asleep to this and had such a bad dream. I was in the town I half grew up in a coastal town...and there was a massive saltwater croc and later a massive shark. Dont know what happened to the crocodile but the shark tried eating me. I was like walking over a dock connecting two buildings and it alteied eating me. That was probably when Robert and Sean were fighting the salmon. Lol.
IDK why but Robert and Sean's vids give me some of the most bizzare dreams.

I did the same and here’s what happened:
I started off covered in green powder at this liminal space water park, but many people were there. As I exited the water park I was met with a New Orleans type road where the parties are held, (not with all the people though). I spotted a giant water slide, but not the ones people would normally think of but a massive tarp going across a massive ramp with water on it. Me and my cousins obviously decided to go down the slide despite the dangers. Nothing bad happened on the slide, but I was randomly brought to a wildlife farm hosting animals from outside of America such as kangaroos and koalas. That’s when I saw the kangaroo begin absolutely trying to murder a beaver, so I stepped in and made sure the beaver wasn’t hurt. That’s when the kangaroo came from behind and started fighting me. I threw many punches until he stopped hurting the beaver. I let the beaver go and I started to walk off to greet my cousins again. Instead the kangaroo again tried to murder the beaver. (Don’t ask me why I did this in the next part, my brain had all to blame), so in response I picked up one of the koalas and chucked it at the kangaroo which left him out cold. I again had to greet my cousins for a short bike ride. After the bike ride i found myself back in the water park where there was this jungle obstacle that consisted of balancing on a thin strip of platform over an inch deep pool of steaming buffalo sauce. My dream ended.

I'm an hour in and I have to say, I don't like these infection type mods where there is no way to actually stop the spread. It just kinda makes it all boring and makes everything they do feel worthless and useless.
There is a way to stop the spread actually!
If they did more research they'd have known that, but they've said they prefer going into these without knowing about the mods

Robert, this video was AMAZING! I love your videos so much, they're always so filled with excitement and adventure! You guys did a great job; this mod looks insanely challenging. You and the Grass Man are easily some of my favorite Minecraft creators and I always feel hyped watching your videos! :D
You know what, I would love to see you play another 100 day survival with some infection mod (maybe multiple), but with Valkyrien Skies so you have a mobile base to run away from it.
A village without villagers doesn't trigger a raid. It's not the village structure that triggers the raid, but the presence of villagers. That's why raids can start in player bases if the player has villagers at their base.
