    Part 13: • Anthony Ruggiano on On...
    Part 1: • Anthony Ruggiano on Be...
    --------
    In the final clip, Anthony Ruggiano offered his thoughts on mob bosses discouraging snitching but ultimately choosing to cooperate when they face major charges. He also talked about inheriting his father's $1,800 debt to John Gotti's brother, Peter. According to Ruggiano, his father was led to believe to Gotti took care of his daughter after she was involved in an accident. When Ruggiano's father was released from prison, he was given an invoice by Gotti before passing away 18 months later. After inheriting the debt, Ruggiano questioned why he was loyal to the crime loyal before stating that there are no happy endings in the mafia lifestyle.

      It is circle isn't it .
      Back to where it all started
      And so on
      and so on.
      And those who fall out of loop are those who get caught up in golden lights

      Cuz the same way circle choose one it will choose other when it needs to update itself.

      Romanticizing something doesn't necessarily mean it has a happy ending. Although in all honesty, Casino did have a relatively happy ending for "Sam Rothstein" (fictional version of Frank Rosenthal), who ended up "back where I started".
      And the Godfather had an arguably happy ending for Michael Corleone, who wasn't murdered, but died basically of old age, apparently of a heart attack. Sure, he was haunted by the memories of all the dirt he had done, especially killing his brother, but most young people who admire gangsters wouldn't mind such an ending.
      Goodfellas was DEFINITELY a happy ending for Henry Hill, who went on to be a damn celebrity. In his book he bragged about shopping at the Gucci store and eating at fancy restaurants as an informant for the government, he had lots of interviews, hell even one in a video game magazine where he gave his opinion about various gangster video games. Of course, we don't see all of that in the movie, but his biggest complaint at the end was that he had to eat bad pasta. 😒

    The reason why most Mobster's snitch is because when the rule was made and they took the oath, you could get away with murder etc. There was no forensic evidence, no finger prints. Sentences were 5 years for something serious, not 100. No video cameras everywhere. If life changes but the rules remain the same you can't and shouldn't expect people to abide by the rules, because the consequences are different from when the rules were made.

    • @CornPopWazABadDude
      @CornPopWazABadDude 2 роки тому +3

      Wrong. The RICO laws is what ended the mafia. Guys went from facing 5-7 years to facing hundreds of years... And all that had to be proven was they were involved in organized crime aka conspiracy and racketeering. The cops no longer had to catch these guys doing a crime like murder etc red handed, all they had to do was prove they were conspiring with others to commit illegal activities and BAM they're facing life in prison unless they talked. Michael Franzese explains this pretty well in one of his interviews.

    Everything fell apart with each individual family when they had a boss that was a greedy bastard. It happened to the Gambinos with Gotti, it happened to the Columbos, with the Persico family, it happened to the Bonnanos when the old man Bonnano wanted to start a dynasty, it happened with the Genovese family when the Chin died and the nitwits who followed had no clue how to run a family.

      Huh? The guy the Chin handpicked is still the boss of the family… most of the families operates on 3 person panels now where a majority vote is the decision. For the most part they’ve done away with the administration and the underboss, consigliere and boss of are all one vote now. I knew Angelo Prisco from the Genovese family personally for years and years and years. He alluded to it back in the 90’s ! Let alone today. It was too much heat on one person. It also confused the feds because they’d have a panel and a couple of messengers. You’d never know ran what to prove in court you need solid evidence. You can’t walk into a trial with reasonable doubt of who runs what as your defense. It’s smart actually. Not only that, the dirty work is outsourced more often than not with the mafias bottom line now is being about money and money only. Don’t get it fucked up, I’ve seen people get beat damn near to the brink of death right in front of me just recently lol it’s still some tough knee cappers out there who will blow your head off if absolutely necessary! They will much rather hire street gangs and other criminal organizations to do their dirty work now. In 20-30 years the mafia will all but be extinct. A shell of its former self.
