It seems pretty natural that there are. I'm in the boat of starting with a small project and it's a conscious effort not to get caught up in that mindset. Doing everything solo means there are a lot of open ends, and a lot of unknowns and a lot of uncertainty about tomorrow. If you're not careful, it's easy to get overwhelmed. I can see how there is a strong appeal in building up structures and processes you're familiar with, to cut down on any of those uncertainties even by a little. And on the flip side, because of the uncertainty in the lack of those structures for you, it is also easy to project it onto the customer and think that they will choose your competitor with less uncertainty over your scuffed startup that is just you winging it in your garage or whatever. "Why wouldn't they?" The natural conclusion is then to position yourself such that this distinction doesn't exist. What makes it so hard is that, of course, that customer segment does very much exist and they tend to be the big fish. It is not always obvious to someone new to the game that your customer segment has to evolve every day, and it can be perfectly fine (and even an advantage, like stated in the vid) to not focus on that audience on day one. Catching a couple small fish is better than no big fish. The smaller fish will eventually even go on to help attract the big fish, and will let you get past the starting screen in the meantime.
