Coconut bonsai is easily one of the best bonsais. You can make it stand up and look like a animal, you can make it look like its sitting on a rock, so much you can do with it, and its different because the focus is on the roots not the tree and leaves.

Looks like, he doesnt speak english fluently.. So be patient and be polite sir... Im from indonesia too and i would try to help explain what you're asking. He use paint that we usual use it to paint wood. And the liquid is mud, in indonesia we call it "lumpur".

The paint he used is the kind of paint that people usually use to make furnitures shine, I don't know what it's called, the colorless one. The mixture he used before putting the moss is soil mixed with water. Maybe clay.

Is there a difference between burrying the coconut and leaving it exposed when growing your plant? Does one technique help the plant grow faster than the other?
From a growing stand point, fully emersing the coconut in the ground is better as you wouldn't have to set back its growth by cutting its roots like what the latter did. But that will take away from the "bonsai" nature of the video (as people tend to associate bonsai as mini trees with a lil roots, a "trunk" and smaller leaves). Without it, it'll just be a regular coconut sapling.
Thank you for this video! The plant (bonsai) you created is beautiful. If I can find a coconut that will sprout I am going to do this. The coconut you chose looked old, so does it take years to sprout? Will a coconut with outer soft fiber shell removed also sprout? Really love this idea! ♥️
