Eh, I disagree. There are so many times where he tries something extremely dangerous when a simple test that should've been run right when the patient came in based on their symptoms would've resolved things. In the real world he'd have lost his medical license many times over.
@@DoctorERI used to work as a telemetry tech and I'd always have doctors stop in to check rhythms. Whenever I was watching House as background noise they'd usually stay and watch with me and tell me everything wrong, but they also always still loved watching

The clinic duty ones are always the funniest, I'm sure they've read up on many of the real life cases where people have done dumb things and ended up there wondering why they're not well, only to realise, they did a dumb, which would technically come under House's "neurological problem" diagnosis... :P

He's used to exposed fractures, bones don't squirm
There's sometimes things that can bother a doctor, but they don't really show it for the sake of getting their job done. I've seen a surgeon admit to feeling uneasy whenever cutting into cadavers, because the feeling/texture is so different from a live human in an operation, and another one put on a face of disgust and did a shiver when looking at a medical scene where many worms were removed from a patients abdomen.
I've been a nurse for 15 years and thought I was immune to feeling queasy until someone said the phrase "greasy keys". I almost retched when I heard it, so that was a first.

Could you react to scenes from the miniseries 'Painkiller'? It's less medical and more about showing the signs to look out for if you suspect you have a bad doctor because sadly they do exist. It is based on actual doctors who over-prescribed Oxycontin when it first came out without fully understanding what it was. One of them actually said something along the lines of "People who are much smarter than I am said this is how it's done so I am not going to question it". Maybe you could point out other warning signs that are in the show. They also had good doctors on the show so maybe you can tell us what they were doing right and what qualities you want from a good doctor
I'll have to give that a watch. By no means am I saying that you're wrong, I just enjoy this topic a lot. One of the biggest driving factors for over-prescribing Oxycodone was greed, much less ignorance. We've known about the addictive qualities of opium derived drugs since we isolated codeine and morphine from it.
The companies who make medication often pay doctors who prescribe their medication. It's a bit insidious, but good doctors won't let the money sway their opinion when prescribing.

I had recently saw some epsodes of the 2022's Mike Judge's Beavis & Butt-Head eps with medical scenes. Mostly the characters getting hurt.

Some of my favorite episodes you should react to are "Act Your Age," "Fetal Position," and "Resignation." All three are very interesting, very rare cases.
That last one, the one with the parasite eating the patient's drugs, wasn't that the episode that the patient also had a rare disorder than nullified her perception of pain? Having a 25 foot long parasite in your body would mostly be impossible because it would be painful and get found before reaching that much mass.

For the record, if you didn't catch it (though you probably did), the girl with the tapeworm also had CIPA, which is why she was awake for the procedure to remove it.

I watched too many episodes in a row and spotted the script formula.
Once you spot it, you cant not notice it.
"Its been 45 minutes. The patient is still sick. The team is busy in the conference room, trying to figure out the root of the problem, and House is off buying, or is inside a very important "plot McGuffin".
Suddenly, his forehead scrunches. This is the tell tale sign he's about to "House".
BOOM! Just like that, he suddenly has it all figured out and rushes to the office to treat the patient.
Now either he shows up in the nick of time, repremends one of his staff for nearly harming the patient, and saves the day
OR
He shows up a few minutes late, but dont worry; his staff has it all covered. The figured it out off screen while House was rushing back.
Rinse
Repeat
