This is awesome - inspired me to start something similar based of your experience. @NaterTater - how long did planning, build time take - what are the gotchas?
I probably "knew" i was going to build it/something for a couple years. Planned and sketching spanned several months just a little here and there. Design/blueprint was a couple weeks on the side and build was mostly done in a 2 week span (several vacation days). Main gotcha is the kids would've been fine with an A-frame swingset. 🤣
_Great work!! I have a question, i'm doing something similar for the school of my children, what is the best method to fix the tower posts to the ground, better to make small concrete bases and immerse them or fix them with metal bases screwed to the concrete?
Mine is not anchored at all, just resting on concrete pavers. Post in concrete in the ground will eventually rot so my opinion is metal anchor plates in concrete.
Nathan Sumner WOW Nathan Congrats, it looks so freaking awesome!, I am afraid to build something like that for my kid and he get tired of using it after a month LOL
I’m 41 and just bought my first home. I’m only now thanking my dad for all the things he built for us as kids. Didn’t really appreciate it till now. I learned a ton and enjoyed it.
Would you take the time to provide blue prints for this? I'm more then happy to pay for it. With Covid, playsets are getting really hard to get so building one will be the next best option. Please respond and I can give you me email! Thanks
@@NaterTater Understand it might be hard to get the time to do the blueprint/ 3d prints but it does seem like many people are interested. I'm 100% on board for it if you get to it anytime soon. Really incredible job!
Can't believe you did this entirely on your own. Dad of the year! Great video.
Thanks!
I don't care how old you are, having a castle to play in would be awesome! Great work!
🤣 thanks!
I would loveeee those blue prints 😂
determination at its finest
Hoy moly you are the real deal. This is incredible.
Thanks Katie, the girls love it!
This gentleman is a hard and efficient worker. 👊🇨🇦
Thanks Jason!
What a labor of love.
Wow so cool! did a good job there!
@Andrew KB & Joliverpro thanks for the compliment, it was a fun project (and still is!)
Love it, great video ❤
Классно, ты крутой папа (You're good father and engineer, great work)
Great video please help do you have this video showing how to build???
I don't

@@NaterTater Great!!! thanks alot :)
what instructions did you use to achieve this, I would like to build this for my 5 children, please help
I drew up the design myself

Haha yup. A month later: "Can we go to the park down the street dad." Yeah ok. ha
But the point is he will never forget you took the time to build it for him

efword1 nice ❤️ its a blessing having a dad that takes time to do cool things for you and with you
amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
This is pretty cool. Did you just design it as you went, or go by some plans? How much wood did you end up using?
Nathan Sumner how much did it cost you to do this ?
How long did this actually take did you keep track?
This timelapse covers 64hrs of work. Add in other fishing touches and exterior stain and I had about 80hrs in it.
This is awesome
Amazing..
only a dad works that hard =)
Funny you can see him going down the slide to get to the saw LOL
Gotta be fast!
Could i ask around how much something like this cost if you build it yourself?
@@NaterTater damn

Wish the build plan was available to buy
I've considered making 3D plans. No answer for you yet though.
Ok. If that changes let me know. Till then will just keep watching at .5 speed trying to learn till lumber comes down
@@NaterTater same, also interested.
I think its too much time/effort and too little payback. Talking to others there doesnt seem to be a widespread appetite to pay for plans.
@@NaterTater Are you willing to sell the plans that you drew up? No 3D plans, just the hand drawn ones you have

i swear he literally castled in chess
hi, how much does it cost ?
It was about $6000 in materials, less than half of that was the lumber.

Beautiful but too fast Flash
Maybe if I was a qualified builder instead of a qualified idiot (refrigeration technician) I could do this.
I appreciate my refrigeration.
