You always bring topics that are educational and so fun to learn about. I feel you have educated me in fashion, color and fabrics, now you continue with perfumes. Thanks a lot, Justine.
Thank you so much!
I can’t second this enough! Your videos have been educational and informative from since the time I started following you. I eagerly wait for your content and never miss any of it!
Yes please! More perfume videos please. I love the language of perfume, i.e the description of the notes, ingredients and also the inspiration. Sounds like poetry to my ears.
I used to wear eau de toilet in university as parfume was too expensive. Then I worked on the maternity ward of a hospital where no scents were allowed - pregnant women with extreme morning sickness aka hyperemesis gravidarum and scents do not go well together. Haven't worn floral scented products for decades and many body products contain the cheaper synthetic fragrances which turn my stomach or trigger a migraine. I enjoy the scent of citrus, lily of the valley, and lavender from fresh plants. Since this is a series, would you be able to discuss the natural vs synthetic fragrances, Justine? Merci from Canada.
yes! same! I came here thinking she would talk about the toxic chemical fragrances. I can't deal with chemical smells - headache and nausea - and this is a hard issue to have in this world where we think everything needs to smell good. I would love to hear her discuss this topic also.
Yes I commented on this too. I do OK with essential oils and many naturally-existing things, but not so much with pretty much anything you find on the toiletries or detergent/cleaner aisle of a grocery store.
I love getting the education on this!
It’s hard for me to pick, but I would say that right this second, spices are what I’m drawn to. Ginger in particular.
Same here, I wear essential oil based scents now
Lily's the valley is always synthetic by the way, just in case you or someone else is looking for perfume it's not gonna be natural, something about how you extract scent not working with how lily's of the valley produce them.
Justine, You are always one step ahead of the other influencers! Well done and congratulations. Pleasure to watch your videos and yes, please make more videos about perfumes.
Clearest diagram I’ve ever seen on the branches that make up the olfactory tree. So beautifully clear, Justine.
I really hope we get some kind of guidance from you in terms of fragrance, because it's been so vilified I have stopped using perfumes altogether. Info on how to recognize a health non damaging perfume, and even tips on brands using harmless ingredients would be so wonderful! For both women and men. It's a true jungle out there right now, so overwhelming and discouraging.
If you're asking about people who have sensitivity to perfume, I hate to say that anything that isn't an essential oil will give someone like my father a headache. I'd say that wearing scent is great, just in moderation in case you run into someone with a sensitivity
Oh, I'm really looking forward to your series on perfume!
I really enjoyed this topic of perfumes. I believe in wearing perfume, even if I’m not going anywhere. I just love it!
Same here!
Love this topic and by the way your pullover looks fantastic 😍
Indeed. Beautiful pullover
I was in Grasse too about one year ago and found the museum and all the perfumeries so fascinating. The flower fields and the museum garden were beautiful too. I welcome your new series! Thank you!!
When I went in the Museum of perfumes,I didn"t want to leave.!!! And I bought sooo many perfumes there !!! A beautiful day of my life ! Really !!
Yes! Me too. And the price is unbeatable. I got myself a 100ml bottle of Parfum for $50.00, and discovery set of ten 10ml fragrances for $30.00
I’ve been a Chanel 5 devotee for years, I’m 65. It makes me feel pretty, chic and timeless.
YES! I'm so happy to hear of this series coming! I'd love to hear the story of you trying to be a perfumist, if you are comfortable talking about it. Love from Mexico!
Wonderful breakdown and I look forward to the next in the series. Speaking of perfume as a daily necessity, during the pandemic when we had to remain isolated in our homes, I ordered the scent Beige (which I discovered in Tokyo) from Chanel online (stores don't carry it where I live) as a birthday gift for myself. I wore it every day and it was a great lift for my spirits.
Great video Justine, fascinating.
1) I LOVE that sweater!!
2) this video made me SO happy. I love perfume, so this topic made me excited!
Wonderful video, Justine!
So thrilled you are doing another perfume video, and will also be doing a new video series on perfume! 💖
Just as I am getting into a new obsession with perfumes, you decide to make a series about fragrances, lucky!
I am obsessed with scent and perfumes since being a child, I used to collect little bottles of perfumes that were coming for free with magazines :) now I am more into essential oils, regular perfumes feel quite strong to me now. Looking forward to more videos!
Loved this video! 😊Very clear explanation , so now I know what I’m attracted to some perfumes and not others. Great job as always.! 👏
This is so interesting! 😊 or is it you, Justine, who makes it interesting for us? ❤ 😊Either way, thank you, and yes, we want moreee! 😂😂
Oo I love that jumper! Looking forward to this series as a perfume collector & long-time subscriber.
I prefer florals. A few years ago I visited the Fragonard perfume museum/store in Paris. I fell in live with their scents. Wonderful video. Thank you.
I love love love…Patchouli, neroli, ylang ylang, sara, and so much more!
oh yes! you are THE person i would LOVE to hear more talking about one of my favourite subjects. and yes, fragrance is POWERFUL! Emotion, memory, cultural history... the world is fragrant. and so have humans been since the very beginning of human culture itself
Justine you are wonderful! Thank you so much for this series. Can you talk a bit more about the differences between eu parfum and parfum?
Thank you so much for bringing contents about perfume making! ❤
I can't wait to follow this new series - I love perfume and this was so interesting. I think my tree is Coco Chanel is my absolute favorite so I guess I am in the woody tree ;)
Excellent way to explain perfumes to a regular audience 😁😁😁 big hug from Florida
I really appreciate that I watch your videos and learn something. Not only are your videos interesting, but I actually gain knowledge. Thank you!
Yes thank you!!
When I was living in France I loved the amount of perfume advertisements everywhere!!!! Like how in the US there is fast food advertisements everywhere 🤣
I am so excited for this series.
Wonderful video! I began to develop an appreciation of perfume because of you and it was great to learn more about it. Thank you!
Great video! Very educational. ❤
I will wait for new ones😊
I have loved your content for years. First of all you do still content, that is creative, thoughtfull and thoroughly researched. I love the Parfume topic. Really looking forward to seeing the new Series. I ve just learned two years ago that there is a different world of parfume beside the Fashion Parfüms that dominante the market in germany and I am now wearing different stuff from smaler houses like Goutal, Maison Francis Kurkdjian, bdk
Yes please! I would love more videos about perfume. BTW I loved the blooper at the end :P
Love the video! Looking forward the next video from the series!
And I love your pullover. Where is it from?
Thank-you! I've missed your content! I'm glad you've re-appeared. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. Please include lots more examples of well known perfumes 🙏❤
I love all your videos. Thank you. Yes, I would love a series about perfume. 😀
Excellent topic ! Please, keep educating … enlightening , Justine !
That was great. Informative for sure. Looking forward to episode 2
Yay looking forward to more perfume themed videos!
Yes, yes, yes this is awesome, I am looking forward to this perfume series!
I really loved your new year review. This video was very informative, thank you.
Yes please! More perfume videos please!!! 🥰
Very interesting! I look forward to this series
I love this video! My fav of all time is Dior - Pure Poison
Love this type of video Justine… I like vanilla and rose and woody and spicy the best!
Dear Justine, lovely video. Highly educational. Have been to Grasse twice and fell in love with the place. It’s a really fragrant experience. The visit to one of their perfume manufactures is highly recommendable. Besides can still remember the scent of roses and lavender when the hotel garden was being watered at sunset. It was so unique that remains as an unforgettable experience. Can’t wait to see your perfume series.
Such a creative, memorable way to visually support the video, thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Lovely video, Justine! I'll really enjoy this series on perfume X.
This series is a great idea💕
Fascinating ❤ Loved this. So original.
I dream of creating my own fragrances one day! YES please, Justine, more parfum videos! My signature scent is Nahema. In highschool, Opium was my fragrance. My mum was a Chanel No5 woman. I also like single notes and to combine them for my own scent. I'm also a gardener, so I'm surrounded by fragrance and associate them with the seasons of the garden.
How serendipitous! Just came over here from parfumo and fragrantica, so of course I would love to hear your thoughts on perfume. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Looking forward to this series!🧡
Good video Justine. I really enjoyed it.
You are my help and best adviser about ALL trends every winter/ summer and autmn👗👕👟 I love it and you💕 Thank you Justine🌺
J'adore ça, merci Justine 🤗👌🧡💚🩵
Your series are always informative and interesting! Thank you!
Really looking forward to this series!
This is absolute heaven!!!
❤ Great video Justine. I love perfume. My friend went to a perfume house in France and brought me home a small bottle of Yves St Laurent. It was exquisite! Loved wearing that.
My Mom when I was growing up always wore Channel #5 when she went out with my Dad. When I smell that frangrance I always think of how she was busy getting ready but her final step before going out the door was to wear parfume. ❤
Ha! Something we can talk about tomorrow at work, except I’ve got a head start already 😁
Bloopers were a nice addition 😎
Hundreds likes, Justine! It's a wonderful topic for your new videos. I love French perfume, fortunately we have perfumes and other beauty products from Fragonard et l'Occitane in my place. Not a huge choice, but at least my favourites: lilas, jasmin et vétyvert. I can't wait for your next video, thank you (merci à vous!) 🥰
This is a beautiful sweater ❤
Génial ! Dire que j'ai vécu jusqu'ici sans savoir ça...MERCI Justine !❤
I have found that I tend to gravitate towards fruity scents, most specifically blackcurrant! And although I hate vanilla on its own, all of my perfumes have had vanilla heart notes!
Bravo Justine, quelle bonne idée que ce vidéo! Merci.
In my teens I had the opportunity to to go Grasse and went on a tour of the Fragonard perfume house. It was amazing. I found my signature scent there and have only purchased my perfumes from there since. Sadly my signature scent was discontinued about 6 years back and I literally cried when I found out. Making perfume is an art and it really does speak to the soul.
OMG Justine, thank you for this video! So glad you're going to give us more info on perfume. Lately I'm hooked on the subject of the latter and I will wait with impatience for the new videos!
I would love to know which perfumes are truely natural? without any synthetic ingredients?
Oh me also.
Omg, I've been hoping for years that you'd make a video like this! ❤
I loved this video and look forward learning more about perfumes. I find it very interesting! I was in Provance many years ago and we visited the perfume factory and store, I was fascinated. My favourite fragrances are Lacoste pour femme and Bulgary Cristalline.
I am really looking forward to this series Justine! My favorite perfume - for decades now - has been Chanel no 19. It's an unusual one and tends to polarize opinions. I'd love to see a breakdown on its complex layering of notes, which emphasizes the artform that perfume making really is.
I’m really looking forward to this series especially since I last week purchased a vintage sample of a perfume I wore in the early 90s 🤗 It cost me way more than I should have paid but wow! Memories flooded back in waves. The perfume (Valentino) has been discontinued for years as far as I’m aware.
Why is the prononciation of Grasse at the beginning of the video sooo satisfying ❤
This was very interesting. I truly enjoyed it, so much so that I wanted it to be longer. I’m looking forward to the next one. I prefer woodsy sents with more masculine aromas added. I was always fascinated by Barbara Stanwycks choices of perfume; Tabu, and Jungle Gardenia. They sound so heavy to me, but also quite intriguing! My mother wore Shalimar. I’m not sure if she used it too heavily, but yikes! I swear the aroma lingered for days after she left!
YAY!! Thank you!! It was fun :)
Love this series! I stayed away from wearing perfume for +-15 years because I have allergic reactions to strong fragrances. But in the past few months I decided to try Michelle Pfeiffer's perfumes because they are supposed to be non toxic. It's working for me🎉. It would be interesting to see a video about toxicity in perfume. There's a lot of misinformation and fear mongering out there (also some truth ) and I think you always do a lot of research before sharing your thoughts with us.
My favorite olfactory branch is definitely the floral one.
Looking forward to more content on perfumes from you as you are always informative -❤ your work! My all time favourite 4 perfumes are: Hermes Caleche & Guerlain Shalimar for woody/chypres, YSL Rive Gauche because of the aldehydes & then Guy Laroche's Fidgi for hot summer days when I want something light & refreshing.
Thank you very much! I am trying to figure out what is my type of fragance. This series will be very useful to me. Again, thank you very much!
Justine, I recently got into perfume, I’m buying a lot of miniatures and trying them out😅 your videos are just in time. I’d really love to see your collection and your favourite ones!
I love this new series perfume is so personal. I find I'm the most picky about bass notes than any of the other elements of a perfume. This is mostly due to the fact I'm very sensitive to musk and I prefer woody or vanilla type bases to perfumes. I love Cedar or juniper as a base I think it's sexy without being heavy. Especially if you throw a little bit of vanilla or tonka in there with it and then you have your light flirty notes on top. But I like perfumes where you have to be almost intimately close to me to smell them on me.
In a perfume, how much is the brand (luxury and ostentation) and how much is the quality of the raw material?
I wear perfume every day; I'm not dressed without it! But I've never given it any thought until now ❤
Merci, Justine! Yes, please, a perfume series is a wonderful idea. I wore Opium for years & still love it, so I guess I lean toward the spicy category? But I also love lavender water in the summer--so refreshing--& whenever I miss my mother, I'll wear Chanel No 5 in her honor. The olfactory world is fascinating, & I look forward to learning more about it from you & branching out on that scent tree.
When I was 18 I read a magazine and fell head over heels for the sample of Giorgio Red. It was my signature perfume for years, and it smelt amazing on me. Then they changed something, and it was never the same.
I've tried endless perfumes since and there are plenty I like, but I've never found anything else that has stood out to me like Red did.
In general I spicy, woody fragrances.
@@helenfitch6590 same thing happened to me in the last year or so. I wore Clinique Aromatic for years, it smelled like patchouli on me which I love. Then the last bottle I bought smelled different. I love Coco Mademoiselle and it will be my next and I see it is on the branches I like.
Super interesting!!! Thanks so much!!!
Great video as always, thank you. I like wood scents, Coco Mademoiselle is my favourite. Did YSL Opium change over the years ? Because the one my mum used to ware is very different than the one sold now. Cheers
Excelllent video, I must visit this place! Growing up in California during the late 60's and all of the 70's we had "shopping mall" perfumes that I remember fondly, none on this list though. I remember one Christmas getting "Arpege" by Lanvin, it seemed like a very gown up smell and I used it for special occasions. The other two that were poplular in my middle school and then high school were Tatiana by DVF and later Charlie by Revlon. I remember the commercial for Charlie and the jingle. The other scent that everyone had was Jean Nate body splash, not a perfume but you became a cloud of scent if you used it.
Today I wear Chanel No 5 and Madamoiselle, I also wear a grapefruit scent by Fresh. I prefer citrus and/or flowers to strong musky scents.
Love the educational content, I always learn so much from you.
This is so nice 😊 thanks!
Super video❤ Je suis trop impatiente de voir celles qui cont suivre ! Un grand merci ! 😊
hi Justine, is it true that there is very little essential oils in perfume and that these days, perfume is a cocktail of toxic chemicals?
I really enjoyed how you broke down the different scent categories. The olfactory tree branches that appeal to me the most are: 1) Florals (orange blossom), 2) Fruity (bergamot), and 3) Woody (sandalwood)-these are my favourites.
One fragrance that perfectly captures the fruity and woody elements is Burberry Hero Eau de Parfum. While it doesn't feature orange blossom, the mix of bergamot and sandalwood is something I absolutely love. Even though it's marketed for men, it’s my signature scent.
I’m looking forward to future videos in your fragrance series.
Jicky , Guerlain's first perfume was made in 1889 and is my favourite . I haven't found a modern fragrance to beat it .
Much needed video ! Thanks for informative interesting video
It's interesting how the perfumes evolve over the day combined with the smell of the body which wears it and how the perfume smells different if someone else's body smell. Can you make a video about how you can find which perfume ingredients suits your personal body smell?
I think it is something only you can experiment with and see what you like on yourself.
