Look at all the wee scientists in chat, with their emotional and volitional (you don't want it to be true) arguments. All based on faith in their own religion. You accept by faith what others say about the Universe. You accept it because you want THAT to be true rather than accept there is a God and he has made himself known to us. In other words, you desire to be your own God and don't want to submit to a higher authority. Just because you believe that, doesn't make it true. All the belief in the world will not change the FACT that there is a God. Your beliefs can't change whether it is true or not true. It either is or is not. And all the evidence points to an IS. You just volitionally or emotionally deny it. None of which is based on rational reasons.

This is all smoke screen. Turek assumes that the oak tree is "programmed", and thus he assumes a programmer. These are not necessary assumptions. But more to the point: For any given worldview, ask yourself if it provides useful, predictive models of reality. There is no question that scientific inquiry has changed human life in real, measurable ways. The fact that scientific inquiry doesn't answer all questions does nothing to diminish the vast and easily demonstrated benefits it has provided. It's true that science is built on philosophic understanding that preceded it. But this makes no difference as to the veracity of science. It seems extremely likely that combinations of elements would produce their exact results whether or not humans were around to observe and test it. Whether or not a human ear perceives it, a tree falling in the forest will still disturb the air molecules around it , thereby creating what we refer to as "sound".

drumrnva funny thing is that God also created science, men think they can outsmart God.

+Rei: Putting aside my near-certain conviction that you'll never demonstrate that any god created science, I'll ask you this: Is science a creation? I thought it was a method of examination/inquiry...

Well as a Christian I believe and I'm certain in my faith and believe that God created me that includes my brain, so yeah I would need my brain for scientific examinations. But you believe your knowledge comes from a fish that eventually evolved into monkey and then into you.

The Old Testament is a book of horrors . It came from God but God is a moral genius. Go figure. A grown man talking here..

&Not2Yield I actually didn't profess anything. I just asked a question, hence the "question mark"

Hey Frank, if you were choking to death on something lodged in your throat, would you prefer i sit by quietly praying for god to intervene or would you prefer me to adopt science and perform the heinlich manouvre on you ?

Paul Osbourne That is a fallacious, straw man argument. Nothing Frank said suggests such an extreme and illogical view of God.

Longest argument from ignorance I've ever heard. Well spoken. That's about all I can give him.
