Everyone in this video knew ( mid 1990's ) that Danny Gaither was approaching death with terminal cancer. Hence, the especially intense emotion here. Bill's brother, Danny, possessed one of the sweetest , smoothest voices I have ever heard !

I agree with you. These songs had substance, merit. They were relatable to pur life. Today they all sound the same, are rock performance, and just NOISE! I still sing from the hymnal, and teach this generation of children to sing them.

Pat Lashbrook: According to HOOVER4000, Danny sings :THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT THAT NAME" on the (DVD/CD) video, "BECAUSE HE LIVES"! I purchase my DVD's on AMAZON PRIME and have had good luck with the used copies. I only had 1 that was defective out of 30 purchases. I was able to return it for credit. I also have loved every one of them, they are all a joy to watch! So much musical talent and the blessed messages in each song of Praise. I wish everyone out there could share in the JOY that is this precious Faith. There are so many hurt, angry, frightened and damaged people, not even counting those that have sunk into pure evil in their walk with the devil. There is no other name by which man will be saved, but JESUS!

This was after Danny lost his voice and wasn’t able to sing for quite a few years. I remember when someone handed him the microphone when he was sitting in the audience and encouraged him to try. There were many tears that day as there were on this occasion bcuz so many knew of how traumatic it was for him not to be able to sing for such a long time.
Yes, you are correct, it was at a praise gathering in Indy Indiana when after Ben Speer sang the first verse of the song “The Longer I Serve Him, The Sweeter He Grows” that, Mark Lowry carried over a mic to Danny, the crowd who knew what he’s been through over the years, couldn’t hold back their tears after hearing him sing another verse of that song.
Yes, after all these years, I still have to grab the tissue whenever I watch that video.

I was visiting my Mom and my sister, and we went to their church and sang this song. When we came to the line "Something beautiful," my sister grinned and pointed to herself. When we came back to that part, it went like this:

My sister and I were full-grown adults, and we still almost got in trouble for giggling during church.

Absolutely! As an Episcopalian west coast Yankee, I had never heard of Southern Gospel Music before the Homecoming Series. Thanks to the vision of Bill and Gloria Gaither and a few of their earlier homecoming friends, I was able to be blessed by the faith and talents of some extraordinary artists. Just the list of those in this video who have gone home to be with the Lord is a virtual who's who: in addition to Danny Gaither, I see James Blackwood, Howard and Vestal Goodman, Ben, Brock, Faye and Mary Tom Speer, Hovie Lister, Jake Hess, George Younce, Doug Oldham, Glen Payne, Jack Toney, Rex Nelon, JD Sumner and a host of others. What a blessing!!
So touching...God is good and so wonderful....how could we not have Him in our lives.

I have the same sense of sadness when I watch Gaither videos, W.W., seeing all those shining faces that shine no more.
