Great demo. My only comment would be that it seems more prudent to drill the hole BEFORE installing the crack expanders, as the expanders can cause the crack to run if it's an unstable one.
Great job I wish you guys where here in the UK, because here the windscreen repair people won't repair any cracks longer than 1.5 inches and they always say anything longer than 1.5 inches can't be repaired. All they want to do is sell you a new windscreen even though a long crack can be repaired as seen in this video and other videos of professional windscreen repair people in the USA.
Ive got a deep score on my windscreen some little shit did with a sharp object. I have some of this in the drawer so will try and repair it. For a crack like that though I'd rather just get a new windscreen.
Good demonstration but it must be understood that a crack repair will always be visible at certain angles and lighting conditions and can avoid costly replacement by restoring the structural integrity of the windshield.
@@user-oo8sk9wm8d In all honesty, there is no good way to get “trapped dirt” out of a crack. It’s important that if you get a client with a long crack to have them put packing tape over the crack to keep contaminants out until you can repair. I had a customer that waited MONTHS to get the damage repaired 🫣. The pvb was actually discolored from being exposed
I noticed that you didn't give us an inside view of the final result? That's because the crack is still very visible isn't it. mmmmmmm the wonders of camera angles. Some people call it proper gander.
The repair will leave a slight hairline after it is completed and prevent the crack from spreading which is completely normal. Some people like this because it saves the original factory seal and saves money.
just put insurance on your windscreen and make a claim when it does crack, especially if you drive on highways and make sure they replace your windscreen not repair it, these are temp fixes, your windscreen is now weaker
I believe he angled the drill bit so that it intersected the crack at the end of the hole. The way I've seen it done however is to drill only about 1/32" away from the end of the crack then tap the drilled hole so it forms a bullseye, then press the end of the crack a little bit so it continues to crack towards the hole and terminates there, joining it.

I have to agree with the others...that end result looks like crap...but this video was done in 2015...7 years ago....What's up with the new resin technology.....That "Liguid Glass" stuff looks like it give phenomenal results WITHOUT the "bridge and suction" hassles
That's more or less inevitable. This makes the windshield reasonably strong again, and can spare you a replacement. Given how expensive a new windshield is, patching the first crack at least saves you some money.

It shouldn't matter because you're not creating a hole you're just cleaning it out
Thank you for the video and you did a great job, very detailed of what's needed to be done!
Great job

Very interesting. How much a repair like this cost? It's not cheaper to replace the glass that has a better warranty ?Thanks for the upload.
Very good presentation thank you!

Are you using the mechanix pro line resin?
Best resin and best kits glass mechanix very good
sometimes you can just run the resin on the crack without using the injector with the clam...

why must i chase the cat
Jamaluddin Jaafar because they taste like chicken
I rather paid my $50 deductible and get a whole mew windshiel. Since the repair to the crack will cost more and isn't worth the hassle.
How much did you charge to repair this crack? Thank you.
What if the crack starts at a chip and spread upward. Do you start at the chip and work up or drill at the opposite end and work down?
How do I remove dirt from the crack and I want to clean the crack from the dirt inside
Start at the chip and work up. Working against gravity is actually better.
Is your crack through both pieces of glass? I ask because if not how would the spacer work if used inside the vehicle?
The spacer provides pressure from inside and the resin will infiltrate much easer as the crack being “opened up”.
@@riverpinewood6560 Does anyone in the state of NJ do these kinds of repairs and if so who and where?
how will you repair crack if its from inner side ?
From where I will get those machines and kits plz suggest me
He drilled away from the break, so what good is injecting resin in the new hole? How does that help the crack?

How do I remove dirt from the crack and I want to clean the crack from the dirt inside
I would use a strong vacuum first, then maybe compressed air to blow out any remaining dirt.
dam that looks terrible... thanks I know not what too do now. crack expanders and now running the injector down the crack.
Any location in philadelphia

What kind of drill bit?Is it a special type for glass?

I can still see the crack
The crack will not completely disappear but it will prevent further damage. This will prevent the factory seal from breaking and save you money.
