Since you're a Scot, if I'm able to save enough for a trip to Scotland, can I get to the Highland areas via public transportation (train/bus) or would I have to rent a car? The scenery from the show is magic but I know they aren't near large cities. Driving on the left side is a bit of a scary thought for me but if that's the only way to get there, I may have to do just that!
Yes, there's heaps of ways to reach the highlands, trains, bus etc and there are a lot of organised tours. Culloden is a very, very sad place. You can just feel it. Go in the summer, the winter is deadly, have fun!
